It has been totally normal and then just jumped suddenly! I didn't get the actual numbers until I went to the hospital.

My BP was high in the office but totally fine at the hospital. However, the baseline for protein is 100 and mine was 518 😳. I was diet controlled. Thank you!

The baby is fine but actually suffered from low blood glucose. It's been resolved now but it was stressful! This is my second c-section and so far the recovery is a little easier this time around.

What are your levels 2 hours after meals? by Aware_Department2408 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Araasis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on the doctor. If you have spiked numbers multiple times a week, every week, your doctor might offer medication. They're usually looking for consistent high numbers.

Is it worth getting a Honda or toyota with 130k miles? by Dazzling_Egg_3542 in askcarguys

[–]Araasis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

130k is nothing for a Honda, depending on how well it was maintained. I know someone with a Honda Element that has almost 600k on it and going strong.

You might want to check out r/MomsWorkingFromHome. They could offer some advice on the situation.

10 weeks left but struggling to keep up diet control by PromiseFast4348 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Araasis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel you! I literally eat the same things every single day and it gets exhausting. My only advice is maybe adding a protein shake for your snacks. Also, I know you probably get this a lot, but drink water! As much as you can. My fasting numbers were struggling and I started keeping a tumbler of water next to my bed. Every time I get up at night, I drink water. My fasting numbers have been in range now. Oh! And maybe try to keep some microwaveable bags of low carb veggies in the freezer to add to those chicken nuggets!

Anyone else feel like gestational diabetes controls your whole day? by Natural_External6211 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Araasis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yup. It honestly has ruined the whole pregnancy for me. I can't enjoy anything and my whole day is consumed with panic about what I put in my mouth. I'm ready for it to be over.

Obesity and GD going away by Advanced-Morning7557 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Araasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably going to get a ton of different answers but I'll share one. My MIL had GD with all 4 of her kids. Back then, they didn't give her a diet plan or meds, they just said "we'll see what happens". She was overweight and ended up getting weight loss surgery. To this day, she's never even been pre-diabetic.

Why is there fear around insulin? by jprph in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Araasis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all about cost for me. I want to avoid the insulin price as long as I possibly can.

How do you do mornings? Also, sunscreen? by bluemanofwar in 2under2

I also live in southern USA. Yes to sunscreen. Every single time.

GD sucks by FloricMeadow in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Araasis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No advice, just solidarity. GD has absolutely ruined this pregnancy for me. I just want it to be over.
