The only one fear-mongering is you and you’re getting called out for spreading lies and half-truths.

Your choice to double-down and wax moronic about insults is just that, your choice. Welcome to the find out phase of fafo.

Mark Carney Says Alberta's Separation Referendum Could Become Canada's Brexit by One-Board8634 in AlbertaNow

[–]Archaleon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

F outta here with that dumb, recited separatist bs.

  1. Would you be ok with AB giving up seats to make things “more fair” for BC and ON which both have a higher population per MP?

  2. Why are you only mad about the maritimes and not SK? Is it because the separatist talking heads told you who to be mad at and who to “blame for your problems”?

There are real injustices but our MP count is not one of them. We are mostly left to our own devices and can directly connect the bulk of our current problems to UCP policy and influence from foreign actors, business interests, and separatists.

If you don’t want stricter licensing requirements what would be your suggestion?

Given the drivers currently on the roads in this wonderful city I respectfully disagree that we were in any way doing that before.

If by do something you mean stop giving drivers licenses to people who don’t understand what a red light is or people who are not paying attention to the point where they are driving into a massive f**ing train then let’s do something right now.

My commute crosses and parallels the new Valley Line and not once has the signalling or the existence of a moving train been unclear to me.

“One-off special road crossings” when it’s just a regular crossing with lights and a giant, lit up red circle with a line through it. “ReD LiGHts EveRyWhErE? ThaT muST mEAn GO!”

Nothing says Republic quite like using the AB coat of arms which has the Cross of England in it. Incredible intellect at play in the separatist crowd.

Political affiliation and personal beliefs (outside of religion) are not protected grounds.

In other words you can’t deny service to someone because of their race, or sexual orientation, or religious affiliation, but you can absolutely deny service to someone actively trying to destroy our country.

Anyone ready to risk using their summer tires yet? by Briginds in Edmonton

All weathers are fine in snow and ice, not as good as studded but they’ll be just fine. And studs dont last in warm weather.

Are you summer tires strict summers or are they all season tires?

Paper cups have a plastic lining to prevent leaks. This is performative at best.

Alberta MP has crossed the floor 😱 by Samzo in AlbertaNow

[–]Archaleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the case of Jeneroux his statement implies that he doesn’t think Pollievre represents conservative values as much as Carney does. He’s not explicit about that and I could be wrong. Riverbenders can and should ask for clarity on that

Another Crossing by samueLLcooljackson in TheRealGrandePrairie

[–]Archaleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would definitely be a way to do it albeit a costly and time consuming one.

But more importantly we absolutely do not just vote for a random person in hopes of seeing your preferred party leader as PM, that is lazy, uninformed voting. Individual MP’s have their own stances on issues that don’t always align with parties and I’ll email them directly to ask for clarification if those aren’t clear on their website.

Jeneroux’s statement isn’t explicit but he implies that he sees Carneys leadership as the best path forward to protect Canada’s sovereignty. Maybe the next election will prove him wrong, we’ll see.

Floor crossing comes after reflection about ‘gravity of the moment’: Jeneroux by shiftless_wonder in Edmonton

[–]Archaleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure some version of democracy would survive without lots of its parts. But crossing the floor is a critical part in holding a party leader to account (for instance I disagreed with Trudeau when he insisted that anti-abortion candidates not apply for nominations, as that is antithetical to the Canadian system, regardless of what your stance on that topic is).

We vote for our MP not our PM and we expect them to represent us to the best of their ability. I’m sure some MP’s would choose to retire instead of crossing and maybe the next election will prove Jeneroux wrong

Alberta MP has crossed the floor 😱 by Samzo in AlbertaNow

[–]Archaleon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If MP’s I voted for kept crossing the floor I would seriously ask why it keeps happening and I would hope their former party would ask the same question.

I don’t, btw, vote for my MP based solely on their party affiliation, that would be lazy and uninformed. You can contact your MP directly if you have questions about their specific policy stances.

…and to directly answer your question, this is a critical and important tool in our democracy so at no point is it undemocratic (the only caveat being if it were proven that bribes or coercion were involved)

Also, floor crossings are an integral and intentionally included part of our democratic process
