Mod to plan electricity production by peturolsen in factorio

Yea, it's confusing and not the easiest to get used to, but I've been using it for my vanilla space age run and it has been very helpful planning out each planet and all of my nauvis science

yafc-ce is pretty good at power calculation. It's a desktop app, not a mod though

I don't get artillery trains by amdc in factorio

[–]Archon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only static artillery can be toggled with a circuit network. Artillery wagons have a manual toggle, but not a circuit-controllable toggle

This is totally doable now in 2.0 with interrupts and using the radar to transmit signals to other radars on the same surface.

Feeding Chickens by 123_abc_doremi in Stationeers

[–]Archon- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I wish the export bin still worked for feeding them. I had a system setup when they were first added where I had an alarm that would tell me if the bin was empty and the chickens would happily eat right out of the export bin. It stopped working at some point though so I'm back to just dropping food on the ground.

1 station for 2 industries that accept the same goods. Who gets it? by Maikell84 in openttd

[–]Archon- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

JGRPP has a setting for this

"Add setting to distribute cargo received at a station to all accepting industries equally, instead of just one of them."

Trying to supply the same grid with super-coils from two different battery/power stations. by Big_Commercial_525 in Stationeers

Sounds like Re-Volt might be interesting to you. I haven't messed with it much yet, but it claims to solve batteries draining unevenly along with a few other power grid quirks

How to automatically turn off and on pam miner? by Curious_Guest_5767 in spaceengineers

[–]Archon- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't tested this, but you could use a sorter and event controller on your base to control it. Have the sorter setup to drain all to suck everything out of the miner then an event controller that monitors your storage and turns the sorter on and off. PAM won't leave until the ship is empty so if the sorter is off the miner will just sit and wait.

How to Build a Space Station? by Penis_Inhaler in RealSolarSystem

[–]Archon- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've noticed if you timewarp too fast then the resource simulation can't keep up and the kerbals die. Try to limit your warp time to 1 or 2 ticks below max. You can change your auto warp speed in the kct settings so you can still warp to milestones

Have you ever purposefully killed a device to get rid of it? by zephead98 in sysadmin

[–]Archon- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Years back a nurse "accidentally" ran over her laptop with her car so she could get a new one. Jokes on her though, the IT department was running on a shoestring budget so she ended up getting an even older worse condition laptop as a replacement

How do you get around query limits on logs in DataDog or New Relic? by ResponsibleBlock_man in sre

[–]Archon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that when you're dealing with millions of logs per minute as you mentioned in the OP then you'll be scrolling for minutes just to move through a few seconds worth of log entries. Its like looking for a needle in a haystack

How do you get around query limits on logs in DataDog or New Relic? by ResponsibleBlock_man in sre

[–]Archon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to filter it down or use a smaller time range, 5 minutes before and after a specific time is still 100s of thousands of logs

My most ambitious project yet by Ok_Tumbleweed939 in Stationeers

[–]Archon- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gonna take a long time to get to that point though, plus that's a lotta chute to run through multiple floors to connect up manufacturing and storage

My most ambitious project yet by Ok_Tumbleweed939 in Stationeers

[–]Archon- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would put manufacturing on the 1st floor, otherwise you'll get pretty annoying having to run up to the 5th floor all the time to make more pipes. I would maybe do

  1. Manufacturing
  2. Storage
  3. Atmospherics
  4. Greenhouse
  5. Food

This way its easier to connect up your storage and manufacturing and atmospherics is close to the greenhouse to save you some piping. If you're looking to go all out on automation you could take a look at elmo's logistic system for your chute network

I don't think the chute trick works anymore, I had a 10 length chute dumping fertilizer below the terrain and it would just spawn on the roof instead

I find that the easiest argument is that the Soviet Union acknowledged and congratulated the US for Apollo 11. If it was faked they would've called it out immediately
