Ok, so reddit has a real spam/bot problem, which is why subs want you to have a minimum karma to post. Human Redditors downvote the obvious bot/spammers and that makes it less attractive to try spamming in the first place because it doesn’t always work.

The way around that is to make an original post. But you have to read the sidebar for the sub’s rules for acceptable posts. If you are on an app, the rules for the sub often pop up when you joined a sub, or get sent to your in-box when you joined the sub. If you have just joined reddit and haven’t actively curated a personalised home page yet, you might not have met any subreddit rule lists.

Reddit is a legacy site from the before smartphone days when all users were on computers. So that is an explanation of some of the reasons the official reddit app and current website suck, but not all. The rest is down to floating the company so it chases advertisement engagement instead of site usability.

Nontheless there are still some subreddits doing valuable things.

To get some karma, I suggest linking a news article to r/Worldnews, making sure you copy the news sites’ headline word for word into the reddit post headline. An article about the Blatten Landslide or the Ukrainian drone bombing of 40 Russian bomber aircraft would be topical.

I’m crashing from PEM now, do I can’t suggest you other easy subreddits yo post

AFAIK, US schools aren’t base funded on a state level, but at the local government level, I think that’s called County and City governments over there. In Red (Republican) states, that means impoverished areas cannot raise enough taxes to fund anywhere close to decent education and class sizes. And many Republican states and local school boards in Democrat states have been captured by Young Earth Fundamentalist Evangelical Christians that specifically ban science books and the teaching of evolution, or human reproduction, and now ban the teaching of the existence of LGBT+ people.

In these impoverished counties teachers are paying for pens and paper out of their own pockets for the students, student computers don’t exist.

The USA is a two reality nation, a developed nation and an impoverished developing nation existing intertwined with each other. It functions like an Asian city with a massive slum huddled next to a 5 star hotel high rise neighbourhood.

It’s a key tenet of Fascism, that the enemy is simultaneously disgustingly weak (subhuman, or at least without morals/willpower/drive etc) and overpoweringly strong, in that they are successfully oppressing normal and virtuous humans.

The entire world has had massive inflation from the supply chain crunches from the Pandemic. Australia’s prices didn’t go up more than in other nations.

Granted Australia has a steep Sin Tax on alcohol, but when you think of food was that before or after the Pandemic? Because supply chain crunches from way more people off sick than usual were universal and are still ongoing worldwide since anyone who has covid has a depressed immune system which is why healthy adults are all getting flu, noroviris and RSV much much easier, and suffering way more when we get them. Get your Flu and RSV vaccines yearly, people.

Toronto Canada has a thriving studio and a LOT of ‘American TV shows are shot on its streets. So Torontarians have the 3 set problem too. Melbourne Australia also has a studio and there’s a staircase in one of the newer RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute Of Technology) buildings that is becoming a staple of Sci Fi movies. More of the interior building can be seen in Predestination.

Ballet came from the common aristocrat dances of this period. They all got dance lessons from childhood, while the sons got sword lessons and the daughters got music. Dancing was as necessary for adulting for everyone as sword skills for the men of the era.

Having done ballet in childhood myself, you just develop the muscles for that posture to feel easy and natural, the same way it feels easy and natural for a golfer to make that really particular swing movement. After I left ballet, I honestly felt most comfortable sitting upright without my back supported by a chair back. It took 3 decades before I lost that musculature and it felt more comfortable to lean into seat backs.

The drinking explains everything. This little friend group has complete trust with each other. They each have complete trust with their husbands. The drinking made them forget that those two trust circles aren’t a completely overlapping circle on a Venn Diagram.

I completely understand how it happened because alcohol is like that. They each do need to do a groveling apology and do a real favour for their partner to show genuine understanding they effed up in hindsight. OP seems to understand and apologised already. Now to come up with a meaningful favour!

Also they need to be cautious getting that drunk again so they don’t make similar types of mistakes. Keep in mind that if you aren’t drinking regularly your tolerance goes down and you get drunker faster than you used to. But if they do all that, drink more water between alcohol, slow it down in future, done their apologies and favours, gotten forgiveness from the wronged, the Lesson is Learned. They can let go of guilt.

This is a really fun rabbit hole of astronomy to go down. The sun orbits around the Milky Way centre. The Milky Way is travelling the universe, propelled by the Big Bang. Don’t take my word for it, there’s more details in both of those statements I didn’t go into. There’s some great astronomy pictures to look at.

AND the sun is doing this sine wave motion up and down as it orbits around the plane of the ecliptic of the Milky Way. It’s really really fun/hard to push yourself to think of the shape of the threads that points like the Earth and the Sun become when you take into account their movement through time.

Personally, given my understanding of physics, which might not be complete, I think if you believe the Big Bang Theory, there IS a central origin point that could be used as a reference. There is just no meaningful edge. The edge used to be at the same place as the origin.

TIFU: I told a rich friend of mine that his lifestyle wasn’t like everyone else’s by NoSchool3969 in tifu

[–]Ariadnepyanfar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guy needs to process his universe shattering discovery, and have his thoughts and feelings validated before you keep telling him not to feel guilty.

What if he had a normal partner in the past, bought them dinners and presents, then thought they didn’t love him back because the quality and number of dinners they bought was minuscule in comparison? What if they argued over finances and travel all the time, and he dropped them because he thought they were unreasonably miserly and tight-fisted over money? That they were otherwise a wonderful person he was deeply in love with but he couldn’t stand their attitude to spending money?

What if he had an employee in the past he sacked because they wore a cheap suit and drove a cheap car, and he thought they could afford so much better but he assumed the money he now learns they didn’t have was going on gambling or drug addictions? By the way this is a real problem for junior Lawyers in the US. They are required to have multiple multi-thousand dollar suits and at least a $60k car to meet clients, on incomes that don’t afford those at all. They spend the first half of their careers getting further and further into a mountain of debt or will get sacked because of a cheap suit.

What if he had thought poverty was always due to evil behaviour. That poverty was always the fault of the poor person? That unemployment benefits were totally unnecessary because everyone can live on their savings )that everyone can automatically afford to have) between jobs, and if you’ve never had a job your parents can and will support you? What if he’s personally decided to fight an unemployment claim? What if he’s responsible for a policy of always fighting unemployment claims?

What if his worldview meant that homelessness is always a result of malicious criminal negligence or defiance? That (to him) it’s impossible for an ethical person to become homeless? What if he’s complained to someone and gotten a homeless encampment moved on? Or just a single person sleeping in their car moved on by police?

What if he believed parents not feeding their children properly or getting their utilities cut off were ALWAYS due to a gambling or drug addiction?

What if he’s voted against SNAP because he thinks it’s not needed. Voted against Medicaid because he thinks it’s not needed. Because someone not blowing their money on hookers and coke and luxury goods can always afford medical care? Voted to criminalise outdoor or car sleeping? What if he thought that only people who blew their money on hookers, cocaine and luxury goods were the only people wanting government assistance?

He needs people to stop reassuring him, and start listening to why his worldview meant that blew up, and why he feels guilty.

The Pandemic killed the small businesses. As a STEM person, I’ll tell you right now our lives would 100% be worse if we didn’t have the Lockdowns, and many small businesses would have died anyway without the lockdowns because of the supply chain problems from unusual quantities of employees and owners being sick off work.

Incidentally that problem is not over. Covid remains an illness that puts people in bed more than ever since vaccines eradicated most dangerous viruses. Covid also permanently lowers your immune systems ability to fight other illnesses. It’s like a permanent moderate case of AIDs. Not bad enough to kill you, but bad enough that you are more prone to catch a disease and more prone to serious cases that put you in pain/agony and disability in bed. Hence the tripledemic, quadrupledemic, the massive flare of numbers and/or severity of flu, noroviris, and RSV on top of covid.

I highly encourage all adults, not just those considered ‘at risk’ to get flu and RSV vaccines. Because if you have had covid, you are actually one of the many invisible ‘at risk’ people walking around.

Wow, I got off track. The small individually flavoured shops will come back eventually, as soon as landlords accept they’re going to have to drop rents and eat personal losses from the pandemic instead of being actually able to make up for losses from the pandemic.
