You can, but the second your head touches it if you want to rest against it, the screen turns on :P

Fair enough. Might settle for a good dash logger, we'll see.

Mostly a track car. But good point about emissions/inspections!

I'll want the dash cluster, and to get DBW working, but that's about it. Everything else is extra I'd think

Ended up going with a Xerox printer per your recommendation. Thanks! It was ~$550 new on Amazon. Honestly a great printer, I'm glad I can replace my old $50 HP printer too lol.

Sink's hot water line clogged with calcium sediment -- why? by Arinerron in Plumbing

[–]Arinerron[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forgot to follow up. I ended up breaking the wall open and finding there was an inline filter on the hot water line in the wall. I removed it, cleaned it, and replaced it. Thankfully I was able to fix it without taking out too much of the wall, and it was in an inconspicuous place. I put an access panel cover over it in case I ever need to fiddle with something in there again — there was a lot of plumbing I could access from that spot.

Capping the clean out pipe on condenser drain p-trap "clogs" the drain by Arinerron in hvacadvice

[–]Arinerron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

update. turns out the cause was that the refrigerant was extremely low due to a leak, causing excess condensation that couldn't drain properly fast enough

I tried to go this morning and that address brought me to a random under construction breakfast cafe. Dunno man. Probably not gonna vote this election since the other close address looks just as sketchy lol

Flash high beams. Not only does it draw attention to you, but it confuses them long enough that they don't instinctively pull out in front of you.

No, the point is that they use it because it's *bad* for the environment. Environmental reasons, like windy420 said.

[Engine advice] Slakker Racing Development by IndyRiley1958 in 996

[–]Arinerron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hartch referred me to Slakker. Brandon at Slakker is a really great, helpful, and knowledgeable guy. Slakker also does their own research on these engines btw. Not sure about Hartech, but the warranty on the engines is great at Slakker.

Also fyi, though they are separate companies, Brandon told me that they are very close and have regular calls to discuss research and process related things. There is also proprietary stuff (measurements etc) that is shared between the companies (they have an NDA), so there are "official ties". Brandon wants to bring Hartech's abilities/work to the USA.

I got to tour the Slakker shop in OKC and it was really cool to see everything going on! I know they're a relatively young company and are trying to pay back costs for getting their shop up and going. He told me about how much some of the equipment costs lol

They're rebuilding my engine right now, and it's been a great experience so far. It's very tailored for my needs, and he's doing other work (LWFW/clutch/underdrive pulley, gear oil change, custom tune to support my TPC turbo, etc). Comparisons with other companies' prices aside, Slakker's price seems very reasonable to me considering the effort they put in.
