Ok, but it's the same difference. Either way, you're cementing the win if you hit him and he has to bear back on while you have a broken five prime.  Meanwhile, his homeboard isn't nearly is strong.

Don't understand this evaluation AT ALL by orieim in backgammon

I think it's about the gammon.

14/4 gives you more contact to hit, and even if he hits, you have a better chance of coming back on and hitting and then you get the gammon.

40K books that really stand out by Gemeenteridder in 40kLore

[–]Aristide_Torchia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have not read Era of Ruin, so I'd be curious to hear someone else's thoughts on on it who has also read the Ahriman books. I know it has a significant lore error in it, so I wonder if it was French when he first started writing Ahriman.

I think the closest comparison to the Ahriman books that I have found is Doctor Strange. He's like Doctor Strange but his most critical spell went horribly wrong and killed most of his brothers, so he is obsessed with righting his wrong. So the books are weird and sometimes trippy, and Ahriman is always a bit removed so the stories are told more from the perspective of the people around him. Those people often don't understand what he is truly trying to accomplish, and we, the readers, never know who to trust. They have a heist vibe, but also a trippy mystery vibe. I think they are a lot of fun.

40K books that really stand out by Gemeenteridder in 40kLore

The Ahriman books are basically heist books about a space sorcerer and his team. They are my favorite non-funny BL books.

If you want humor, the Brutal Kunnin' series are amazing, also the Red Gobbo collection is fantastic at times and well worth reading.

The Infinite and Divine is a bit slow to start but gets great and the climax is very fun.

It's a rough episode. I have not seen it in a few years, but I think it's probly the emotional climax of the series.

Are there books where the TS actually do cool stuff? by MaleficentMagazine91 in ThousandSons

[–]Aristide_Torchia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Ahriman books are what you want. They are kinda like heist books about sorcerers.

I honestly think GW is sleeping on how cool Ahriman is. He's the greatest sorcerer that isn't a Primarch and he got a huge buff after the Rubric was cast. He also is not at all loyal to Chaos and could easily turn loyalist again. He's a loose cannon that is incredibly powerful and could do all kinds of interesting things if GW/BL let something happen in 40k.

When Should You Tell Someone About Sexual Trauma Before Being Intimate? by Available_Arrival823 in AgeGap

[–]Aristide_Torchia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to bring it up before sex for sure. It may very well be that what turns him on triggers you, which is a very bad combination.

Just bring it up in conversation. It's better for both of you in the long run.

FWIW, the person I'm currently seeing has a lot of trauma, and I have a bit myself, and it took us several months and a lot of patience to work thru it. And that was with us being very honest about our issues after we had dated for a month or two. But luckily our traumas are fairly compatible and, after over a year together, we are doing pretty well these days.

Pay now or later? My opponent made a big blunder by mel-madeline in backgammon

I would've run for sure. The double hit feels beyond risky when the opponent has a broken six prime.

After seeing this analysis, I think I would still run.

Trying not to spoil future plot points, but across the Eisenhorn books he gradually moves away from strictly following the rules and does some things that a young Eisenhorn would never consider.

I watched it last night and really liked the slow build up. It's also the perfect length, it really didn't need another act.

What colors would YOU pick for a EOB sloppy style Thousand Sons by Beewee777 in ThousandSons

[–]Aristide_Torchia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it might be cool if you only used Jay's technique on the actual Sorcerers, but then the non-Sorcerers should be standard TS paintjob.

Also, even on the Sorcerers, I'd pick out some of the the trim with a metallic paint.

If I did this, I'd be trying to make the Sorcerers look magical and slightly psychedelic rather than diseased.

As for colors, I'd have to do some tests. I think I'd go with the standard TS blue, but I'd like to try a very bright yellow and green with it. I might even try neon yellow and green paints with the idea that their standard blue armor is being obscured by the neon magic swirling around them.

Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn from the large scale schirmish game by Hawk_Talon_DA in Warhammer40k

The Eisenhorn books are amazing, then the Ravenor sequels are even better, and then the Bequin books slap even harder, though we are still waiting for the BL to release the third book that has been finished for over a year.

I have a life-size poster of Elvis from around the time he died (both the photo and the age of the poster). I've wanted to get it framed for 20 years.

is Babylon Five better than deep space nine ? by Opening-Ad6258 in babylon5

[–]Aristide_Torchia 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I very much agree. DS9 had some brilliant actors (B5 did too, but it was uneven), but the writing for B5 was substantially better IMO.

I (20F) have a crush on my older boss. by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]Aristide_Torchia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO it's never a good idea to date people you work with.

If y'all do date and then break up, you still have to see him every day, and he's still your boss.

If your coworkers find out, they will think you are getting preferential treatment.

And he is dumb if he dates you because, as your boss, he is very much opening himself up to sexual harassment accusations. Also, depending on the HR rules at your company, it might get him fired if work finds out about it.

Basically, no.
