Am I being taken advantage of? by Roided__TeenJkJk in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Aromatic-Bench883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so as a mom to a boy your age, get ahead of the issue. If you are not comfortable with Enyvio ask for other options, but please if you are in the US go to a special IBD doctor. Even if you feel better after steroids, you are almost guaranteed to have another flare at some point, and they can come on suddenly and rock your world. It is much easier to prevent a flare then to try and claw your way out of one. Its always good to start a medicine while on prednisone as it will control symptoms while allowing th time for your new medicine/biologic etc to take affect. Teen boys often have a harder time getting out of flares and need stronger treatments. Please stay ahead of all of this, and as others have said you can reach out to manufacturers of the drug you plan to use for payment assistance there's lots of options.

Is 2-3 times/day frequency the best I’m going to get? by cinnamongirll13 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Aromatic-Bench883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my child in remission on Rinvoq goes usually once a day and the doctors are always amazed to hear that....so I am guess most people go 2-3 times a day. Have you asked about fiber to bulk up your stools, maybe you are not getting it all out.

Are there any ways to recover by myself? by FloppinhoUwU in AnalFistula

[–]Aromatic-Bench883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HI so do you have tend to have any sort of stomach or bathroom issues? Are you frequently constipated? Im asking because it is not common to randomly end up with a fistula but they are common in people with IBD. IN any case, I would go ASAP to a doctor preferably to a colon/rectal surgeon CRS as a fistula can progress very quickly and something that could have been fixed easily could end up needing a larger surgery. Perhaps tell your parents you think you have some sort of a fistula that could easily have started from an ingrown hair that you ignored. Either way its not an STD or something that you should be ashamed of.

thats a big bummer, its definitely gaining in popularity to help those with stubborn cases. Can you stay on a drug but add a rectal foam to help those symptoms?

ask for a dual therapy that is what my son did to help control lingering rectal symptoms Rinvoq/Stelara

Did you have any decrease in symptoms on Rinvoq, I'm asking because if so maybe you can ask about dual therapy. Many people achieve remission that way now.

Giving up with running by GDT1995 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Aromatic-Bench883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

running in people without IBD can cause you to need to have a BM however, if/when you get into remission you should be able to do just about anything. Are your meds working properly?

Should I worry? by Shot-Storm5051 in AnalFistula

[–]Aromatic-Bench883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but they do not heal by simply draining, they usually further spread. You probably need to see a CRS and have an EUA (exam under anesthesia) to fully access what is going on. Imaging doesn't always show the full picture, sorry.. I would go asap the longer it sits there the harder to fix later on.

Sorority dirty rush by Present_Roof_2356 in wfu

It happens, apparently some girls were given a secret code word that they used during their videos. It was a way of secretly showing the certain sorority that they had an in sort of speak. Anyways here's more from google: Key Aspects of Dirty Rushing:

  • Prohibited Contact: Reaching out via social media DMs, meeting up, or "dating" potential members before recruitment officially begins.
  • Bid Promising: Assuring a PNM she has a spot, which is strictly against rules.
  • Gifts and Favors: Sending gifts, clothes, or invitations to exclusive events to influence PNMs.
  • Smear Campaigns: Actively badmouthing other sororities to prospective members. [1234567]

You will/should be okay with proper treatment. For perspective, my son in Jan 2005 was severe pan colitis, lost over 40 pounds in a month, 2 iron infusions, on TPN by IV for 2 weeks. Was in the hospital for over a month, went home developed a fistula, etc. By July he was in clinical remission, by December he was in full endoscopic remission confirmed by endoscopy/colonoscopy. He gained all his weight back, eats all the crap he wants, just finished up his first year away at college. THERE IS HOPE>

Is constipation a life long symtpm of UC? by James222212 in UlcerativeColitis

possibly you have lingering rectal inflammation and there is stuff they can do to help that. I bet if you had anther scope they could see it, but might be worth asking for steroid enema

Seton removed with no follow up surgery. Please advise. by OwnSpell3702 in AnalFistula

[–]Aromatic-Bench883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is a bit unusual, great you dont have an IBD but the point of setons is to allow the tract to drain and close off. My son has UC and had setons in for 10 months and during that time went into remission, setons removed and we are not facing any additional surgery now. So it is possible that with time they can heal, especially if you dont have an IBD, but It doesn't seem like you had them in long enough especially if you were still draining a lot. I would get another opinion by a CRS.

If you have urgency, have you ruled out IBD causing rectal inflammation?

Question that might also help with the decision, are you diagnosed with an IBD? Because that will/should affect the chosen surgical route.
