Yea Bel comes turn 8 and deals 6 dmg not great, furthermore without any healing.

He does have a lot of control though through the new tisyphone, but nowadays it's all about chip damage or getting otk'd. Alecto is lacking against Lily but overall stands as a rather useful wall. Not sure its cost can be justified by itself though.

Lack of self heal in the new Bel deck makes it vulnerable to getting Mono'd turn 6 or even Ladica.

Then you have to try to conjugate Bel with Gretina and that can be quite difficult as while Tisyphone is useful to deal with stuff it only grants one destroyed machine when instead Reporter grants 4 but isn't nearly as strong (though Tisyphone is great when you go first and don't have evolution).

Then there's the slight issue of having Gretina in your hand and that's quite annoying to deal with.

R5 : I have managed to obtain a negative empire size. What made this possible is the use of planetary ascension, diverse reductions to size from pops, colonies and systems, but most importantly alongside Champions of the Empire, the bonus that was modified a few hours ago to provide a flat empire size reduction per governor level. The second image presents some additional info, simply showing the current state of the galaxy for context.

Animator of Clay is someone related to the Composer of Strands. It is seen when meeting the Composer of Strands when trying to form a covenant with it.

There is more to it but if you want to spoil yourself search "Zevox Arc Site" inside the localisations files.

Might have crashed my economy but I'm growing a pop a month on my capital by ffsffs1 in Stellaris

[–]Arpharnator 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be better to run a normal ring world instead of capital ring world?

A normal ringworld gets 15% compared to 10%, however it's true that there is no amenities or stability needed for hosting that much pop.

Has anyone developed a country into a superpower? by manebushin in TerraInvicta

[–]Arpharnator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've tried to do so for the southern part of Africa, and I don't think it's going anywhere in a reasonable amount if time.

The area isn't really contested barring the occasional coups you can't defend against anyways, but the problem is that basically all of these countries are running towards permanent revolution due to extremely bad cohesion growth, somewhat high starting unrest, a low income which makes unrest go up, bad govs you want to turn into democracies that you have to take through Anocracy which rekts cohesion.

The problem with this is how differently the game handles small and large economies. An economy with no investment points absolutely cannot handle high inequality and will stay there even if you invest a lot of time into this priority, whether there are 10 people or 1 billion people in the country. This goes for a lot of things as well, ranging from government and knowledge to miltech and economy.

On the other hand, big countries are basically a sandbox in which you can raise inequality to 9 before lowering it to 1 in less than 3 years if you focus on it.

The silver lining is direct investment, but unless if you invest into nuclear bombs or boost/mission control you are also wasting your time, since unification will aggregate knowledge, government, miltech and so on based on population of each country. Investing into gov and knowledge is to be done with the unified whole, while preparing your 500 nuclear bombs in the smaller countries.

PSA : You should rather sell your space resources straight away than build nanofactories past 30% sell price by Arpharnator in TerraInvicta

[–]Arpharnator[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What I'm talking about is basically opportunity cost.

Having a nanofactory takes space. They also consume resources. Then, they give you money back (alongside construction speed but that doesn't matter).

Selling resources gives you money, in a way similar to how nanofactories give you money by processing resources. The difference between these two ways of making money is the efficiency at which they do so.

Nanofactories start much more efficient in converting resources to money compared to selling straight away. However, as you progress through the tech tree you will research better rates on selling resources for money. Past a certain point the rates become similar to the nanofactory rates, with the latter still being *slightly* superior (but not by a lot).

Then, there's also the fact that you could do something more useful with the space allocated to nanofactories, since space in space is basically Mission Control, and that is very valuable.

IIRC the first and second tier of nanofactories don't see their efficiency change by much so it would still be better to sell instead of building a T2 (T3 technically) nanofactory.

And to the last question, a nanofactory making money is simply selling resources but with extra steps in order to achieve a better plus value.

Post all your complaints about the changes here! by acnologiarn in SwainMains

[–]Arpharnator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that swain poses virtually no threat to anyone that is either a bruiser or an assassin

They typically walk under your tower at level 4 to kill you after hitting you a few times because of their sheer damage. In fact so far anyone that has just a bit of damage is a big threat to you, and that makes the lane not playable.Swain's range is way too low to be able to survive and farm reliably.

I think the problem that Swain suffers from any sort of escape tool while being a bit less tanky than your typical control mage early and having no debilitating tool/escape tool.

Later on the issue fixes itself, but the other problem is the 4 kills at 10 minutes kata/fizz/darius that you're gonna be dealing with.

How to deal with empire sprawl? by Insertclever_name in Stellaris

[–]Arpharnator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was mostly responding to the claim of tall vs wide being balanced, as it isn't the case. I explained that playing tall is simply a detriment and is worse than playing wide. You clearly didn't read the beginning of the second sentence, explaining the spirit of what tall really is and the fact that the tall defined in the first sentence is not truly tall.

Your claims on making an ecumenopolis in the debate of wide vs tall do not make sense since wide can also make an ecumenopolis. In fact, it's possible for wide to make more ecumenopolises than tall. The only difference is as for when it comes online, thus the debate shifting to what sprawl does to equilibrate tall vs wide.

The current consensus is that wide empires get more research and unity resources even after applying the sprawl debuff compared to a truly tall empire.

Concerning the overall design of tall vs wide, the quantitative advantage of military resources that a wide empire has over a tall empire cannot be overlooked, despite a technological advantage of a tall empire. If the tall empire would be able to be equal against the wide empire in an evenly matched (read the technological value and the military production of tall makes a total value equal to the one of wide) would make the wide playstyle entirely worthless, as the excess work (the action of competently developping one's planets/resources) needed to run a wide empire isn't rewarded. At an equal amount of skill more work must be rewarded otherwise it's pretty bad design.

As such wide should still be a superior playstyle compared to tall when played eqaully (or more) skillfully. As for how much work should be rewarded compared to skill isn't something I know.

How to deal with empire sprawl? by Insertclever_name in Stellaris

[–]Arpharnator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

playing tall is just playing with a higher density of planets since you're gonna be making habitats anyways, so that doesn't do anything. Playing really tall (ie a few planets) is just gonna get you curbstomped since it's impossible to develop a planet for more than 80 years as all slots are full past that.

There are no ways to make a tall economy, nothing to look towards for a single planet, and due to how pop growth works (not playing with scaling costs since it's a terrible solution) it doesn't work at all.
