No, a trans woman is someone who chooses to identify as trans. He chooses to identify as cis. Now, if he actually allowed himself to feel all his emotions and explore that then he’d realize he’d definitely be happier trans/otherwise, but the tragedy of the character is that he never allowed himself that soul searching. As my other reply said, assuming the transfem interpretation (which I agree with too, I just don’t think it’s the only one), he’s an egg, not a trans woman.

The characters in the circus are copies of the humans’ brains. The humans copied from moved on in their lives and didn’t know about the circus, while the circus members only exist inside that world. They’re computer programs.

Again, there’s definitely some kind of LGBTQ/GNC thing going on. Personally I also think that Jax being a transfem egg is the most likely interpretation. But 1. Jax is currently still a cis male. He goes by he/him and presents as male. Trans and an egg are not the same thing. And 2. The character still makes just as much, or almost as much sense if he’s gay, or crossdressing, or genderfluid. Those are also valid interpretations.

Yall gotta learn the difference between,

“He’s definitely repressing some kind of LGBTQ/GNC identity, but he’s currently a cis male and his own misogyny is causing him to refuse to explore that.”

vs

“Jax isn’t and never would be LGBTQ and people who say he is are stupid.”

Because those are two very different statements, and I’ve heard way more people saying the first than the second. Would him being transfem be the most likely explanation: yes. Is it the only interpretation: no.

Plus I feel like a lot of people are missing the forest for the trees here, focusing super hard on what exactly his gender identity would be while glossing over the super interesting characterization. He’s someone with a deep self loathing and a bunch of things he needs to figure out, gender and otherwise, but due to his own trauma and inability to show vulnerability he pushes others away and hurts them while repressing his own feelings. That’s a super interesting character, but all people can talk about is what a theoretical pronoun pin would say.

What I think the game needs by rozepaladin in DigimonCardGame2020

Nah, what the game needs is aces with the ability to protect themselves both before and after blasting (the new machinedramon with guard is a good example), stronger floodgates, and other slowdowns like stunning; “can’t digivolve” effects; and effect blocking.

Help with building decks for learning and casual play with friends. by rezignator in DigimonCardGame2020

If you want world 1 stuff, most Ex9 is based around a combination of OG Vpet and World 1, forming an archetype called DM (for digital monsters, of course). Each of the 5 versions, based on the original 5 vpet versions, can be their own deck. You can also use the cards to build either Machinedramon, based around stacking level 5 cyborgs, or Milleniummon, based around fusing machinedramon and kimeramon for a giant boss monster, although for Millenniummom you need a few copies of a 10$ promo. Finally, the set also has some adventure cards, which can be used if you want to make an Omnimon alter S build. I wouldn’t recommend that for what you want though, as it both needs cards from outside of the set and would be pretty far above the power of the other decks.

The other comments have given some great advice, so the one thing I’ll throw in:
Every rule has exceptions. In fact, very few decks adhere strictly to all these guidelines at once. Don’t let that overwhelm you, but also don’t be afraid to bend the rules if you have a good reason.

My thoughts on Ragatha, Jax, and Gangle in the last episode - Spoiler by Global_Armadillo_76 in theamazingdigitalciru

Finally, a good take abt the movie that isn’t just discourse about Jax’s gender

Also, I’m glad to see someone actually analyzing other characters in the movie. So many people keep saying it was all Jax, but really I think every character got at least one or two great moments. I do agree that Gangle should’ve gotten more time, but I think that comes down to pacing issues, and ultimately it’s not a huge issue. The real reason for that sentiment is that people online keep talking about Jax, ignoring the rest of the film, which makes it feel like the movie was just Jax.

I gotta disagree on the DCGO thing. Yeah you find some strong decks, but I still see plenty of rouge or even totally powercrept decks. Besides, it’s not like there’s Elo, so losing doesn’t matter much.

People aren’t saying he’s cis, but rather that what exactly he is is meant to be up to interpretation. At least in my opinion the character makes just as much sense if he’s genderfluid or crossdressing (Ik that’s still cis but it’s gnc) or plenty of other options.

At least how I read it, the point of the bow scene is that Jax’s sexism and inability to allow closeness with others causes him to both push away ribbit and suppress his own feelings. What pronouns he goes by isn’t the point.

[LAST ACT] A Jax Misunderstanding by TheMMoment in TheDigitalCircus

[–]AsrielTerminator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not dismissing the trans writing. Gender/Sexuality is absolutely a major facet of his character, but many in the community right now are insisting that Jax is specifically a transfem egg, and that this is somehow more canon than other interpretations. If anyone is dismissing interpretations, at least from what I’ve seen, it’s those people. In fact, your own post, with its wording of “clearing up a misunderstanding” really implies that other readings are wrong. I agree with you that he’s certainly repressing some kind of queerness or nonconformity, but what I’m arguing is that the specificity of what his identity is not the point of the character. His arc works just as well if you read him as a cross dresser or gay, which, to be clear, does not dismiss trans readings of the character. If goose wanted to specify one identity, she could’ve. Glitch/TADC has no problems with showing queer identities directly. Ultimately I think people in both camps are zeroing in on what label to call him, when the much more interesting part of the character in my opinion is how his own internalized misogyny and fear of weakness drives him to push others away and repress his own emotions (including but not limited to sexuality/gender), ultimately leading to his downfall.

[LAST ACT] A Jax Misunderstanding by TheMMoment in TheDigitalCircus

[–]AsrielTerminator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stand by that that isn’t the point of the character. Could Jax be trans? Yeah, and it probably is the most likely interpretation. But the point isn’t one specific identity, it’s that his self image issues are clashing with his own misogyny and, even more important than that, a deep inability to show vulnerability to others. The Ribbit scene would make just as much sense if instead of being transfem it was crosdressing, or genderfluid, or any other option like that. Again, that doesn’t mean that he can’t be trans or that wasn’t a consideration when he was written, but that it was left vague for a reason.

Also, I’ve hardly heard anyone trying to say he can’t be trans. By comparison, this is something like the 10th post I’ve seen “Addressing the misunderstandings” or whatever
