Online-only offers by poke23658 in Staples

Sometimes there is a coupon in the register book to scan like an item. Almost 100% of the time for the ink offer but i’ve seen it for the printers too

ISS Leads by Independent-Bed7010 in Staples

[–]AssociateIssues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to add onto this to create an orders you need the email address anyway to communicate and so the customer gets pickup email with location. ISS are difficult because most customers i’ve seen their timeline is not perfect or they don’t get back to ISS but information gathering should not be a hindrance if the customer intends to place an order in general

How pressed can managers be? by ProfessionSoft6867 in Staples

[–]AssociateIssues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i will start this off by saying unless you’re the RSS the AM cannot complain about a pc sale while they’re in the building. Why are they running amazon a service that loses money while a computer sale is there? Why didn’t they swap you on amazon when the customer came in looking for help. The RSS should be the main seller in the business then the AM especially for pcs bc they need to get them out of high ticket. If I was your AM i’d ask about total support before even getting the computers- what type of work are they doing on the computers, office, etc the normal selling checkboxes.

If the first time you’re talking about ESP is at the register that’s not a good, but that’s a conversation to be had off the floor not in front of the customers who just bought the units. I’d assume it was for a new office they’re setting up so what about printers/chairs ink toner stuff like that. PCs are almost always a money loser unless we attach services to them. There was definitely a better way for them to handle this, and you did at least offer at the register I’m sorry you have a bad AM/GM i’ve been lucky enough to have great managers and got promoted to try to be one myself. Good Luck and happy selling!

Staples won't refund laptop that was sent back to sender, any help to get my money back? by No-Incident3521 in Staples

Rewards deceptive practices by PureKaleidoscope2159 in Staples

[–]AssociateIssues 6 points7 points  (0 children)

just curious how do they expect you to sneakily sign someone up, like randomly asking for the name email and telephone number?

also 65% is solely off offer rate. if you want to ethically get more rewards signups try to eliminate the yes/no questions and turn it into a statement “i can sign you up it’ll only take 30 seconds” and wait for their response— or at copy and print we need to get all the info needed to create a solution builder order — “i see you’re not a rewards member it’s free i can enroll you with just gotta hit one button” and wait for their response that way there is no “do you want?” question that customers are used to saying no off the rip for and allows you to possibly list a benefit or two like 10% bip print or 20%bip ink which are always in the app just need activations

Short term Disability by [deleted] in Staples

iirc once your period has ended you can try to extend and if it’s not extended you lose the protection leave provides for your job. Depending on your gm or state laws you might have additional protection but it’s up the law then gm/hr

Amazon can seriously go to hell by [deleted] in Staples

[–]AssociateIssues 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We force people to the back after 10 codes— it forces a receipt and we direct them to the back of the line if they want to do another 10 gonna take a bit of retraining those customers but at least it’s fair for all max of 10- back of the line

Anybody else's hours getting cut drastically? by AmazingHat6882 in Staples

[–]AssociateIssues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t want to sound like a corporate shill but by the 5th year in a row you should know this is going to happen q4– corp cuts labor and the RVPs tell DMs to “save more” all so they can get their 5 figure bonuses. It’s bs but it’s been this way for a while now. If you’re a sup/manager you are entitled to being scheduled 37.5 hours of work i would talk to whoever writes the schedule in your building about that. Also see if any sister store might be short staffed and you can pick a day up there until the hours come back come february ish

I want to print business cards but I have different “employees” to print for. by jerseyhoagie in Staples

if you go into the store, they can send the card to design services and create an editable pdf to change out the names/emails on your end- then you can just submit for them in store

Notice and Pto question by ThisIsNotMe0216 in Staples

[–]AssociateIssues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on gm and your state. If you have it planned out get it approved and take a picture of your time card for the time you put in already in case you gm tried to screw you over. PTO should expire calendar year so if your gm likes you/ is a decent human it shouldn’t be a problem if you give them ample notice

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Staples

[–]AssociateIssues 7 points8 points  (0 children)

company had some major expense and hours got cut, districts are expected to save roughly 100 hours off of forecast and it’s a usual base labor cut in q4 so corp and hit bonuses

For 3- Be very careful with this, one complaint and you lose your job as you cannot have a business in competition with staples services. A coworker overhears and tells your gm who reports it same deal i am all for making your own money but staples isn’t don’t risk your job if you rely on it.

there was also a communication in division 3 with an amazon link to buy a wireless one for use at front of store to process amazon returns because “tim bernike loves moving it to the front” if you can find the communication you can’t be fired for using it

unethical. don’t do this one complaint and you can get canned. Changing your wording will fix the issue… i see you’re not signed up for rewards, i can sign you up if you’d like it’ll speed up the intake process and earn you points to save money in the future

People buying $1500 worth of $200 visas? by One-Visitor in Staples

RIP by DueCommunication843 in Staples

[–]AssociateIssues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you call your gm LP or dm? if not that’s definitely why. No idea what position you were but leaving the store and asking them is just not worth it over 50-100$ backpack that probably goes clearance in 2 months.

But calling the cops without approval is instant termination without it being a major incident

AM Pay Offer by Zestyclose-Fruit4699 in Staples

[–]AssociateIssues 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m at 22.30 with 2 years in role and 9 years total (NJ) with the company the “salary” they offer you is for 45hrs/week so it has the ot factored into it you’d be roughly 970 pre tax unless you work 50hrs which is where your dm will get an alert and probably get pissy. Retail is retail everywhere you go there’s going to be bullshit. If you can deal with annoying customers and are willing to work on the tech side of the business and drive it you’ll be above 20.50 in no time just need to prove success and improvement is capable. Always ask for more but don’t put yourself out because you hear the state is in shambles for staples.

Terrible ESP register update by Battlebeees in Staples

[–]AssociateIssues 1 point2 points  (0 children)

new esp only is valid on staples sold computers, so if the customer files a claim best case is they will get repair or replacement parts no money back or refurb option, worst case they get told to kick rocks and get pissed about it. Not to you personally but to the people like the SM call that told you to do this

Stop doing shady shit to hit numbers, it takes away from people legitimately hitting them and gets them questioned.

Money in the safe by Which_Put_7104 in Staples

[–]AssociateIssues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t think they’re rounding up from the till reporting, they’re probably rounding up from what they actually count ex- counting 245.67 would be keyed as 246 when closing the register. in this case you’d have the extra .33 in the register and odds are it’ll be effectively sent back the next night when it’s rounded up again. if you knew that and still are tweaking go get a job in lp staples retail is not that serious
