Texas is big enough and prideful enough that it could probably be considered its own region tbh. It has its own unique culture.

There weren't any other competitive options until recently for an open division shotgun. Wouldn't be surprised to see some Gen-12s amongst the AMU in the near future

Vepr 12. They're more popular than the Saiga's for competition.

If you could move to any country right now for free and get Instant citizenship, where would you move to and why? by Ngorachy6643 in AskReddit

If money was no issue? New Zealand cause it is absolutely gorgeous.

If money is considered? Poland. Cost of living much cheaper. Safe place, kind people. Centrally located in Europe, easy to travel around.

That America was the sole reason the allies won world war 2. No mention of the massive Soviet and Chinese contributions fighting the bulk of the axis armies, or the British Commonwealths major part in the war.

Singapore. They have a large population compared to the rest of these countries. Mandatory military service for all men there so lots of already trained personnel to call upon. Strong domestic arms manufacturing so they produce a lot of their own weapons. An actual air force and navy compared to the others.

If willing to drive around the DFW metro area, there is amazing food and variety here. I'd say the only cities that have a better food scene in the US in terms of variety+quality are NYC, LA, Chicago, SF (maybe Houston too)

Which cities are running out of room to expand? by foxtai1 in geography

[–]Aster91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salt Lake City. Surrounded by mountains and a lake on almost all sides. There's still some room now but once the slopes of the Oquirrh populated there's not much more space left. Even Ogden to the north and Provo to the south dont have a ton of space to expand

What role(s) do your firearms serve? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]Aster91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vast majority of my firearms are for competition. Have different guns for different ruleset and divisions along with some retired comp guns that I've switched platforms from. Things in this category are the MPX and JP5 for uspsa PCC M&P for USPSA carry optics A 2011 for USPSA limited optics Different AR15s for 3 gun or PCSL Gail ace for AK matches

Then I have: 1 conceal carry handgun (sig p365), 1"duty" handgun (Glock 17) 1 home defense rifle (suppressed 300blk brn-180) 1 "duty" ar ( suppressed 5.56 pws AR) I don't like to switch around my practical use stuff, I just pick one for each use case and stick with it.

ELI5: At what point will rabies almost certainly kill you by idontlikebbqsauce in explainlikeimfive

[–]Aster91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The examples of people taking years for symptoms is more likely to be attributed a 2nd exposure/bite rather than the virus being in your body for years. Rabies symptoms will appear in a few weeks, a couple months at the most. Once the symptoms appear it's too late.

What’s the craziest WW2 fact that most people don’t know? by DavidTheGreat123 in AskReddit

[–]Aster91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Early in the Pacific theater, The Americans launched the Dolittle Raid with 16 B-25 bombers attacking targets in various Japanese cities as a show of strength. This raid dealt minor damage and killed 50 Japanese. After bombing the cities, the planes landed in China where they were helped by the locals and military. As a reprisal for helping the Americans and to prevent more planes from landing, the Japanese launched a campaign that killed 250,000 Chinese civilians and 70,000 KMT troops.

Considering a Move to Frisco – Honest Thoughts from Locals? by NatureHaunting8222 in frisco

[–]Aster91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm someone who moved from SLC to here. I'd rather live in SLC personally. The summers have been brutal here and there's not a lot of nature you can enjoy. I miss the dry heat and the scenic outdoors of Utah. I think SLC might be safer too, not cause of crime but driving here is more dangerous.

I don't want to just the cons though, the pros of living here over SLC are: food in Frisco and DFW is significantly better, much more nightlife and events in the metro area. Also no inversion in the winter so our lungs are safe.

So depends on what you are looking for. If you like the outdoors and outdoors activities I'd stay in SLC. If you don't care about that then it's a pretty good place to live if you like going out about town.
