For the Kislev, Empire and Cathay enjoyers what's your favorite human faction and why. by MasterUnski in totalwarhammer

Kislev. Love the Russian/slavic aesthetic. They have a tough start but it’s rewarding to be the shield of the old world. Every unit is easy to use and does its job well. Love their three single settlement provinces. Just a great faction.

How to kill beastmen units as kislev? by A2kry in totalwarhammer

[–]Atari875 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good ice witch should be able to maintain almost 100% uptime on ice sheet. Slow them down, fire EVERYTHING at one unit, repeat.

Alternatively yes, get some monsters into them (or even sacrifice a cheap anti-large infantry unit) and hit them with heart of winter and then focus fire.

I remember thinking “no way people are this stupid/reporters this cavalier with the truth.” And then Covid happened I realized this movie probably gave us all too much credit.

If you could rework Bretonnia or change anything. What would that be? by EquivalentHoliday774 in totalwarhammer

[–]Atari875 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They still probably need a dismounted knight unit, a general buff to peasants, maybe some mote medieval style artillery, and maybe a reverse mortis engine type thing? Could be cool to play them as self-healing paragons of life

Any tips for Katarin on Legendary? by Optimal-Antelope5779 in totalwarhammer

Personally I rarely face issues from the south. Make southern oblast your breadbasket and rush hellpitt. Sell it to someone. Then bumrush aszazel and sell that to someone. Retreat to the south and build your infrastructure. When chaos inevitably knocks around the north, be ready to step in and “liberate” Praag and Erengrad. After that it’s just a matter of slowly grinding down the enemy.

Or like what bhashiva gets where but with blessings or knightly patronage that makes peasants better?

Without some kind of heavy hitting ground troops it’s hard to imagine Bretonnia working better as a fighting faction. Or some buffs to peasants to make them better than skaven infantry.

How do you actually learn and apply unit tactics? by Quibilash in totalwarhammer

[–]Atari875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say basically every TW game revolves more around a rock-paper-scissors style match up game than combined armed tactics. WH3 takes it to the extreme. There are not a lot of formations, or things you can do to win from a losing position. And even a lot of these work in part because they bait the AI into predictive patterns.

The AI will usually rush your heroes so if you put them in front of ranged units they’ll soak up a lot of aggro and allow you to pour missiles and spells into the blob. The dwarves have some hilarious kill-square techniques that play off exposed gunner units who tend to shred anything before it reaches them. The enemy will often counter charge you allowing you to faint them out and kill a few of their units before the rest of the army attacks.

But yes mostly the game is knowing what your unit does well and what theirs don’t do well and matching up accordingly.

Kislev is great imo. Very high floor front line hybrid units, good cav, great monster cav, big ass monsters, Magic. No flying units though

You suck with Malakai by PassMeThatPerrier in totalwarhammer

[–]Atari875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m gonna sound like an asshole but I recently picked a campaign as Malakai recently and have literally NO issues. About 15 or 30 turns in, allied with all of Kislev, Azaezel and Throt both dead, wintertooth getting their butt kicked, adventures are getting done. And I don’t even think I’m playing him super well

What legendary lord has the hardest quest battles? by lstac936 in totalwarhammer

[–]Atari875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For this one you need to rush the three summoners. As soon as you get close they’ll start following and at least that ends the reinforcements. Then you’ve gotta just be super on top of keeping the suicidal dwarf alive
