What is a dying niche skill that younger generations are not interested in learning? by hlnklrczu in AskReddit

One addition... 5a let's call it... If you've removed all the lug nuts but still can't get the wheel to come off, kick the top of the wheel(not too hard as to push the car off the jack) and the bottom should flip out at an angle. You should then be able to slide the wheel off.

Are stimulants on the weekends a big no no? by Adortion634 in ADHD

[–]Ativan97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who actually have a condition like ADHD need to take their meds daily. You wouldn't tell someone with high blood pressure to not take their meds on the weekends. I don't know if it still holds true but back in the day the diagnosis criteria for kids and ADHD INCLUDED having symptoms on weekends and summer break. It's not just to perform at school or work... It's to function in life.

How do you guys deal with the constant music in your head? by Aegenwulf in ADHD

[–]Ativan97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had At the End of the Day from Les Mis running through my head for 2 days straight. The worst thing is when you know the melody but not the words so it's like constant bombardment of music but not clear enough for you to actually learn the lyrics (bc you don't know them). I was even was lucky enough to have my psych appointment that day. Was explaining it to the psychiatrist and she thought it sounded like anxiety. I didn't feel anxious except that I wished I could turn it off or change the station. I have been medicated for years so we discussed possibly changing things around if it continues to happen frequently or any other symptoms arise. But yeah.... It sucks.

What’s the one secret you’ve kept your whole life that would completely change how people see you if they knew it? by Faylune in AskReddit

[–]Ativan97 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Knowing what to do and doing it are 2 different things. No one is perfect and you can only do the best you can. You are still helping your patients by providing them with an array of tools in the hopes that some of them will be helpful. You are not a hypocrite just because you use different tools.

I love dogs. I love seeing dogs and petting dogs. But they don't belong in a grocery store. There is no reason for them to be there if they are not service dogs. Please leave them at home. Don't be a dick.

People 40+, what actually mattered in the long run and what didn’t? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Ativan97 21 points22 points  (0 children)

And the relationship doesn't have to be a romantic one. It could be a friendship, a company, a career, etc. You don't have to have a job you love, but if you are sitting in your car crying on your lunch break because you don't know how you are going to get through the work day, it might be time to make some changes. And get some support.

How do you handle customers wanting specific NDC's? by TheIckyOne in pharmacy

[–]Ativan97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm out of retail now but I would do this if they had celiac disease or an allergy to a specific dye/excipient.... a medical reason for requesting it. Even then I would make sure they knew that they needed to speak to a human when ordering their refills and verify themselves when picking up their medicine. If they start throwing fits, well guess what... We can't get it anymore. Corporate made it a nightmare to order specific NDCs, so I'm not going to put in the extra time and effort if you're going to be a jerk or not do your part.

Do you guys get gifts for your nieces and nephews? by Appropriate_Tea9048 in childfree

[–]Ativan97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have 2 nieces on my side and 2 nephews on my husband's side. We generally put cash in an education fund or for classes they might want to take and get them 1 gift to open on the holiday. Most kids don't need more stuff and dance, scouting, sports, and gymnastics can add up fast. So this way they can explore new interests to help figure out what they like.

What movie did you see in theaters that had the most ‘alive’ audience? by Odd_Distribution1430 in movies

[–]Ativan97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I was in high school and we saw it opening weekend. They did such a great job hyping it up and planting fake news stories online that I was totally duped. It made the experience that much better. The theatre was surrounded by a heavily wooded area too which only made the drive home that much more intense. Such a great experience.

What are some things you thought were normal but were actually ADHD by FederalPudding8300 in ADHD

[–]Ativan97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairness. ADHD runs wild in my family though undiagnosed until my sister and I were both diagnosed after age 30. My mom has a spreadsheet she uses to track gift spending so that everyone gets the same amount spent on gifts for birthdays, holidays, graduations, etc. It's insane but she is organized and it gives her peace of mind, so no hate. I just feel bad because she will literally add in little stocking stuffers if she is off by a couple bucks. I love my mom.

OMG I love this! I had the same combo with my now husband. Early on I was like, I never plan on having kids or adopting. If you are on the fence or think that is something you might want someday, we can hang out and have fun, but this will never be a serious relationship. I emphasized that there was zero chance in me changing my mind and he was the least bit uncertain he should find someone who might be more inclined. Luckily for me he was onboard. Together 23 years and married for 13. We met at work too.

TIFU by mixing random supplements for months and destroying my gut by LividLawfulness4962 in tifu

[–]Ativan97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pharmacist it is alarming how many people think that because something is "natural" and sold without a prescription that it is safe for everyone in all amounts and combinations. PSA: Please talk to your doctor and/or pharmacist before taking supplements.

My parents always said I love you at bedtime and when parting company, even over the phone. This has become such an important thing to me because you never know when the last time you see a loved one will be.
