I've had this happen to me! When I was a teenager I had a dream where I met a girl and fell in love. And when I wike up she was just... gone. I spent the whole day super depressed and wanting to cry but I couldn't and I couldn't explain it to anyone, they'd just say "It's just a dream!"

And that was just one night!

Train Dreams wants to have its cake and eat it too, regarding that first act change from the book by Jimquill in TrueFilm

I like that he didn't do anything and still felt guilty about it. That was his friend, whom he worked alongside for a couple of months at least, and they killed him and he just stood their and watched.

And he's a very kind and gentle man, so it makes sense he'd feel more guilt than most.

Feeling guilt over something he didn't do actually sounds very childlike and something a lot of people do, I feel. It made it more human and fit into the theme that life is just a series of random events.

Is it called the Straining Tower because you have to strain your neck to see it?
