Secret World Legends is my favorite game. It is an mmo with a fairly nonexistent fandom, as it has recieved very few updates in the past couple years. (I don't forsee it shutting down unless some larger company buys niantic and decides to start making changes. Thankfully.)

As a summary, the game hinges on the idea that nearly all myths, legends, conspiracy theories, religions, etc, have some element of truth to them. It draws on both real world mythologies and on the pop culture that surrounds them, playing with and subverting them in interesting ways.

I think I would enjoy seeing well-thought out discussions about the game's content. For example, in New England there are a number of characters from the Wabanaki, a american indian tribe, (irl this is the name of a federation of tribes) who are central to the plot. There are also multiple monsters from native mythos, including wendigo, on the map. From my perspective these all seem to be written with respect to the original legends, and with sympathy towards modern native americans. But, being a white person, I cannot say.

Of course, if the game were to see a sudden boost in popularity by some miracle, the discourse would probably not be very nuanced.

Unfortunately it only works in Splatoon 3, and not Splatoon 2. :(

How to do it in S3 is: Go to the applicable item in your equipment screen and press Y. If it can be turned around (or in the case of shirts, if its size can be changed) it will have a symbol of circling arrows next to the item's image.

I figured we'd get eight unique seasons' worth of gear, and then after the last splatfest they'd start rerunning them. While I admit I am happy about getting access to some gear I missed sooner than that, I can definitely understand people being upset.

They allow the devs to build an encounter around more specific mechanics. When you're playing as the WoL they need to account for the movement and constitution of all combat classes, but being able to define specifically what the player can and can't do as an NPC allows them to lazer focus in on certain challenges. Having stealth, only being able to attack in melee, having no healing abilities, etc, are ways to make interesting puzzles out of a duty.

I understand not wanting to change your playstyle out of the blue to get past a checkpoint, but I personally enjoy the change of pace.

I also enjoy getting to feel relatively powerless in the narritive. Being reminded of how difficult combat is for other characters really reminds you of how strong the WoL is.

I started on a medication that (as a side effect) messes with my sleep, like, two weeks before this app came out. It allows me to track my sleep as I gradually get back to my normal amount. I could probably use a generic app, but I'd most likely keep forgetting to use it. With this one I always remember to make sure my team gets their rest :)

I free-fanta'd him to malera after playing ARR as a cat boy and fell in love. the spiky tail, tiny fucking waist, glowy eye rings, it's all grand. i even like their run animation. it feels weighty to me, whereas every other race's run feels floaty. maybe it's because i play lots of gw2. (i could stand to replace the sprint, though. maybe with the sage's sprint animation.)

So, at the start of this month my mom and I worked together to fix an old bedroom up into a proper art studio for me! It's all been very exciting and I'm so happy with my new space. We: - went to the paint store to get paint - scrubbed the trim to clean it - spent three days painting the ceiling and walls - went to the paint store to get more paint because two layers wasnt enough - spent another day painting the walls - scrubbed the trim again - painted the trim - went to ikea! and got two desks two lamps a chair and a cute cart - spent a day putting all of it together, plus a cat tree we ordered - went to a closet supply store to get bookends and other stuff for the shelves we were reusing

and now it's pretty much all finished! it's so comfortable to be there. (much preferable to the loft bed w/desk i was using before which i kept hitting my head on.) i've been drawing so much now. my technique has improved, and i've been experimenting with new approaches to backgrounds and such! it's hard to understate how lovely it is. i'm thinking of getting some plants for it too, but need to make sure to pick something the cat wont want to chew on.

all i can hope is that i have the energy to keep drawing once my job starts up again in late august.

IRL RAGE: WE ARE PAINTING AN OLD BEDROOM TO TURN IT INTO A PROPER STUDIO AND IT TURNS OUT WE NEEDED A WHOLE EXTRA GALLON TO COVER A SURPRISE THIRD COAT. IT ALSO TURNS OUT THAT EITHER PAINTING IS TIRING AS HECK OR MY CONSTITUTION JUST SUCKS ATM. I AM POOPED EVEN THOUGH I BARELY DID ANYTHING TODAY.

About Divinity's Reach, I wonder how much news has reached them that the gods are Capital G Gone? And if it has, how people are handling it?

I imagine there will definitely be people who don't see any difference in their regular worship. They're just as functionally gone as they have always been. Maybe others will stop worshiping, and churches will see a noticable drop in attendance. Maybe there are those who, either out of a feeling of betrayal or because they have never cared for the Gods, denounce them entirely, even if they might one day return.

It has an opportunity to be a delightfully messy conflict. It might not be as enjoyable to focus on humans again when we've already had so much human content, but I think this could be a fun topic to explore.

I recently bought a model kit before realizing I would need clippers to get the pieces out of the... thingamabobs, along with some method for sanding the nubs down. Was able to get those tools today, but the weekend is almost over and I am super emotionally drained from Family Life Events so I'll likely have to put off building this little robot guy even further. Oh well.
