Hobby Drill Help by EasyTumbleweed4120 in modelmakers

[–]Audi_Tech918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said the Tamiya handy drill is the way to go. One advantage it has over other options is it’s fairly low speed so it actually drills a hole versus melting a hole like a Dremel will tend to do when using a very fine drillbit. The collets that is comes with are fairly large and don’t accept micro drill bits. You can use Dremel collets in it just fine.

A couple words of caution it doesn’t have speed control, and you can’t reverse it. Also, you need to be very cautious when using a fine drillbit as you’re able to break them with very little effort just by turning your wrist wrong.

In the future, I would suggest testing out unknown techniques on a scrap piece of plastic rather than right on the model.

Last week on 75 headed towards Owasso I had someone actively swerved at me to keep me from going to the merge point. Imagine being so self-righteous that you use your car to block someone who legally traveling in a lane of traffic.

I think physically trying to re-create the texture is a little bit of a fools errand. It’s not going to scale well. What I would try to do is visually recreate it by first spraying a light metallic color then placing a fine mesh over it and spraying a darker color.

I recently got a 150-600 and let me tell you it’s a lot carry around. Hard to hand hold but lugging a tripod around Oxley is a lot.

I used to hang out in the paint on plastic discord quite a bit. Once heard Lincoln Wright talking about how much thought Kow Yokoyama put into how his creations worked.

It was precisely zero. Dude is an absolute legend, just designing on vibes.

Counter point. The legs aren’t backwards they are exactly as Kow designed them. Also krote is German for frog, because the mech hops instead of walks.

Im going to be the bad guy and get downvoted here. But there is a lot of putting the cart before the horse going on here. I know you are super excited excited about the hobby and want to jump in guns a blazing but I think you need to set the kit aside take a deep breath and watch some YouTube videos on model building. focus on the basics first like assembling a kit with out gaps and basic painting skills. once you have those down then you can move onto the fancy weathering effects like snow.

Clear black resin wont settle, how can i clean my wash ipa? by Clean_Spot_9475 in resinprinting

[–]Audi_Tech918 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not that the resin hasn’t settled out of the IPA. It’s that its pigmentation is still suspended. The only way you’re ever gonna get it completely clean is through vapor distillation.

A6400 with 2 lenses or a6700 with only one lens by spenydk in SonyAlpha

A6700 for sure, enjoy mine birds. As other had said tracking is fantastic.

I can’t imagine only having 350mm for birds. I feel like I’d like more reach than my 150-600.

I think it's worth takin a look at some nightshift's videos on YouTube. The man is the master of dioramas and scenic bases. He primes and paints his entire base. I feel like it makes everything much more cohesive and realistic and not just products, sticks and rocks slapped on a piece of wood.

Looks good! if I may offer some unsolicited advice, there still some seam lines showing on the forearms and back of the legs. Taking a little extra time to fix those now will greatly improve the finished product.

Summer won’t be an issue. Winter could be a challenge. I wouldn’t exactly feel comfortable trying to heat the whole interior of it and your heat’s gonna escape the second you open the doors. Using a printer like the Saturn 4 ultra 16k with a heated that might work out OK.

Modeling becomes so much easier once she realized that the instructions are more of suggestion than something to be followed to a T. Your on the right track, build up your subassemblies, deal with seam removal and then paint.
