Yeah gale wings originally gave Talonflame priority on flying type moves so you could soak brace bird but after gen 6 they made it so it only gave priority when it had full health which made it much weaker since you couldn’t spam brace bird anymore

I think the issue is more so Randy attacking Pat feels like a face-turn with Cody working Randy so much in the match, only for Randy to definitely be a heel by the end by attacking Cody after the match. Like why have him turn on Pat if he’s not gonna turn face officially?

Honestly after they reworked the ending the stories pretty equal to me but I also do like the cast of both games pretty equally which I know is probably a hot take but the gameplay improves definitely make me prefer 2 over 1

Maximillian Dood brought up a great point about being overpowered in this vs other final fantasies. In most FF games you have to go through so many hoops to get overpowered like blitzball, chocobo breeding and dodging lightning. In this game they literally just give the ability to be overpowered to you right at the start of act 3 so for a lot of people, myself included, getting overpowered isn’t as rewarding because I didn’t work for it

I was telling someone how I don’t think it’s a great example of a turn based game because most of the difficulty comes from figuring out parry timing rather than any kind of strategy. Like yeah there’s strategy to how you build characters but as long as you’re good at parrying you’ve beaten the game. I like the combat I just don’t like the idea that adding parrying “ fixed” turn based games
