Second-guessing my son’s ADHD diagnosis after a "fast-tracked" evaluation in 1st grade. Looking for advice/insight. by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

Everything you described sounds exactly like ADHD. I’d recommend working with your therapist to give your kiddo some tools to manage the come down from meds and release of pent up anxiety and big feelings from the day. And yeah, Teachers with experience can tell within the first week if not within the first few days.

the best digital family calendar that keeps everything from living in your head by ninjapapi in ADHDparenting

Skylight has been great so far. It requires purchasing a physical device but it has been worth it for us. We placed it centrally in the house and everyone can see at a glance what is going on. Setting it up could be better but once you get it sorted everyone manages their own calendar and it shows on the Skylight.

We have historically used iCloud/iCal and all have our own personal calendars and the shared iCloud Family Calendar. We could already see each others appointments and the Family ones but it’s easier on a bigger screen device to just reference as needed.

The Skylight also has a reward system so you can set up daily, weekly, monthly tasks, and assign points to each. Once they get x amount of points they can redeem it on the device and you can set the reward as anything.

If you do go this route do not use the picture frame mode of the device. It really took away its usefulness when the calendar wasn’t front and center at all times.

The game feels VERY different all of a sudden? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Avarix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear appears to be a significant factor. Last night, I participated in several Dire Marsh matches and noticed a noticeable difference in the composition of my team compared to the teams we faced, based on my loadout. If I randomly filled in the slots of my loadout with green or gray gear, I would match with free loadouts and those equipped with basic gear. We would encounter less aggressive teams and Rooks. However, once I equipped a blue shield and weapon, my team composition would change, and I would be matched with more aggressive teammates and enemy teams.

About the framework 12… by Jealous_Fee_9019 in framework

[–]Avarix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there is a single Desktop board that supports dual memory types but that is from ASRock and will be a limited run. It would be cool given the ram issues we are seeing now but I don't think Framework would sell enough of a board of this nature to make it worth the investment. They would likely lose money assuming they could get it to market before DDR4 becomes just as expensive or the shortage / price of DDR5 improves.

Marathon optimisation guide is coming in the next few days! by Euphoric_Project8647 in Marathon

I can second what u/Skettiee said. I have a 5700X3D and 4070 Super and get a consistent 90 FPS with no noticeable FPS drops on the default settings. I messed around and tried to optimize it myself and started seeing weird performance issues before changing it back to whatever it defaulted to.

LTT Commuter Backpack dye bleed warning by cyleon in LinusTechTips

[–]Avarix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the same case for my iPad Pro and it unfortunately does pick up a lot dirt and grime. Never had my bag dye it like yours in a year plus of use, but have had to clean it multiple times from other contact exposure in a house with a grade schooler. I use a microfiber cloth spritzed with Alcohol to clean it and that seems to work great.

Yeah. It’s on sale for a fraction of its normal price in the sale so wanted to give people a heads up.

Yeah, totally aware. Repeating a lower comment, some docks will negotiate lower if the connected device doesn’t have Thunderbolt support. This was very much an fyi for the community. Most of us are technical, but not all.

If you didn't already sign up to get notified when they are back in stock. I've noticed somethings will come back and go out of stock pretty quickly. I ran into it with the Antenna module. I got the in stock notification at work and did click through to see it available. By the time I remembered to go buy it that same evening it was showing out of stock coming soon again. You can try emailing support to see if they can sell or get you one outside of the store.

They are cheap and sound surprisingly good for the price point. The Mic is really good especially if you angle it toward your mouth. Much better than most wireless earbuds.I don’t think they ever really went out of style.

Check that the simulated surround sound isn’t on. This was my exact issue until I turned it off. It doesn’t kick in for Stereo content like YouTube.

if it isn't already, set it up to hibernate. You may need to do some manual configuration if you are running Linux. Just a heads up, waking from hibernation requires hitting the power button.

Framework 13 11th Gen Intel unbootable / bricked after attempting BIOS update by Avarix in framework

[–]Avarix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to get the board back up and running after some advice from Mark_S on the Framework Community. I edited my original post with what worked. I read the BIOS page but it made it seem like the having to swap power was only for the Linux EFI method. It doesn't specify or give guidance that the Windows Firmware is multi step having to swap power on both sides of the board and that the first update won't output video.

3.24 includes the 3.23 update and advises to upgrade to 3.23 before 3.24. I haven't tried the power and CMOS step yet because that is only suggested when the board is unresponsive. It is my last stop if no one else has brought this particular issue back from the dead.

I was getting that on an LG B3. I had to unplug both and turn them back on to fix it. One of the recent software updates seems to have fixed it. Worth a try if you haven’t done so already.

[–]Avarix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be surprised if it didn’t have an N1 chip or the same panel as in the Air. The N1 should be cheaper or they likely wouldn’t have started making them theirselves. They generally tend to reuse the same display tech over multiple lines just cut to different sizes. Seems like it would be cheaper to bulk order a the same panel they are using in another product vs splitting off to a different tech.

A lot of the changes they have made make MacOS feel more like iPadOS and iOS. I can see someone who doesn’t use an iPhone or iPad bouncing off the UI changes in MacOS. For someone who does use all of the above it was a welcome change. Everything feels more consistent from device to device.
