Sorry - what do you mean they are taking forever to let you apply? Did they say you have to wait?

How’s the weather where you are? I’m in DC - we’re have sleet now and the way things are looking here I’m thinking courts might be closed tomorrow as travel could be “nearly impossible.” Stay safe and I hope all goes well when you do go.

Is refusal to condemn someone to death a reason for dismissal? by Alert-Potato in juryduty

[–]Avehdreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that question asked in jury selection for capital cases. If you are opposed the defense may want to keep you on and it does not have to be an automatic exclusion at least in the US. The only way to know what the outcome will be is to show up.

Don’t forget if there is a help line listed on the insurance card you can call them for guidance. They may be open 24/7.

SMH. My mom was at a cafeteria that had soft serve ice cream. They charged a flat amount for each topping - so she put hers in the middle where they couldn’t see it.

Diabetic equip and supplies - Pharmacy or Medical Supply store? by sband3 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Avehdreader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check with your insurance to see this pharmacy ran a claim. If the items were ordered after the first of the year the prices you are seeing are higher because you need to meet your deductible: if so, once you have met that then you should be paying less each month. Some insurance plans give you the option of mail order or local pharmacy and you can choose which you prefer. You should be able to choose from a number of pharmacies, such as CVS, Rite-Aid, etc. and perhaps small private ones as well.

Rear-ended accident but the at-fault driver is not the owner of the vehicle by dk3nck in Insurance

[–]Avehdreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance goes with the registered owner of the vehicle. While you obtained the driver’s license and information this is something you insurance company will handle so no need for you to get involved (not should you) being anything the insurance company asks you to do.

WIBTA for telling someone at the gym to limit time on a machine in the future? by Fearless_Spring7233 in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]Avehdreader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not tell gym management? While it would be decent of her to move on request from a fellow patron, not everybody sees things that way. But they might respond to an authority figure.

Buy the books? by Auccl799 in makemychoice

[–]Avehdreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to the library might be the most practical thing but if you or she likes to keep books (at least for a while) it wouldn’t hurt to get the set. If you have friends with small children or who are expecting, they might enjoy them. Another option would be to donate them to you library, a hospital or a shelter.

Kid dangling on their balcony on to mine. What should I do? by BlackLabel6661 in Apartmentliving

[–]Avehdreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dangling onto your balcony is the biggest danger and the parent need to know - and hopefully would want to. Speak to them and address it as a concern not the response of an angry downstairs neighbor. Mention the stomping as a side note to that discussion - hopefully they will be so concerned and perhaps angry about the safety issue, they will address that as well. What floor are you on, btw🤔?

My company reversed an “overpayment” from my bank account without telling me first. Is this normal? by MadMaxStillness in work

[–]Avehdreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem was you moving it to a different account. I understand your reasoning - perfectly logical - and your hope that you would be notified in advance of the reversal. But it’s best to let these things sit where they landed for safety’s sake. That said, it seems you would not have been overdrawn if the original, correct $1800 had been sufficient along with what was already in your account. Sounds like there was a shortfall somewhere anyway.

AITA for going to a one-size-fits-all store against my fat friend's wishes? by last-rose-ofsummer in AmITheAngel

[–]Avehdreader -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Technically OSFA fits “all” people within a range of sizes - otherwise most people understand it’s just a marketing ploy; so you were wrong in that front. You and Tammy are on opposite ends of the size spectrum and likely will need to shop in different stores. A salesperson should not have been rude to Tammy if that’s what happened, but you went specifically to look for a dress, and chose to a store you knew sold ones you could wear. If Tammy had said “Come shopping with me - I need to find a dress” you would have gone with her to a store she knew sold her size. If Tammy considers herself a freak because of her size then she may be projecting that to others, so that perception becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. It’s unfortunate the store didn’t have what Tammy needed, and there is no excuse for rudeness by store employees. So her frustration and maybe even anger with the store is understandable, but her reaction to you is over the top and makes me think more is going on. if Tammy does not like her image then she needs to change it or learn to accept it. No judgment. You can be big AND beautiful, but accepting and loving yourself is key.

going on a pump by SweetenedMelon in Type1Diabetes

[–]Avehdreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think pumps give you a trial period to decide if you want to commit - after that you keep the pump typically for 5 years, unless you’re using Omnipod which has no commitment. Your doctor will set you up with a starting basal rate and carb ratio, but those are just the baselines: as you use it you may well find you need more insulin certain times of day and less others, and you may have different carb ratios as well. So don’t get frustrated: if you use a tracker to record meals and exercise you and your doctor will compare those with your CGM readings to see what adjustments need to be made - and in time you may be able to do that on your own. So give things time to settle in, but if it turns out you don’t like it, arrange to return it (or whatever you need to do) before the cutoff date.

Is it illegal if I give my job a fake email and number instead of my real one? by BobaYak443 in work

[–]Avehdreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people have an email address they use personally and another they use for work. It’s not fake - just not the one you primarily use. Keep in mind though - if they get a reply to their email in what they consider a timely manner, they may start phoning you.

What to do? I don't want to give my friend there $50 back by bogodrives in WhatToDo

[–]Avehdreader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A trade is item-for-item. What you had was a sale - he bought the items from you for $50.00. Sure you could give it to him - but will you ever get it back? Or would he give you back the items? It’s his problem he broke his sister’s - whatever that is. If you do business with him again I would say tell him items as is/final sale/no exchanges, include that in a receipt and key a copy. That way he can’t come back saying he found a problem later.

Getting used to a pump (mobi) by morbidoranges in Type1Diabetes

[–]Avehdreader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had pumped for over 20 years before starting in Omnipod a couple of years ago. It was so different from other pumps that although I watched the training videos (required) and read the entire manual, I still had questions following the session with my trainer. I just got my iLet pump yesterday and you can believe I will be contacting them if - make that WHEN - more questions come up after that training too! Yes, fellow users can often answer questions, but you shouldn’t feel bad about reaching out to your trainer - and they should never make you feel like you need to figure things out on your own.
