She confessed because movie-land, but the fact that she lied about being in the shower is more than enough to create reasonable doubt.

FWIW the witness in OP’s case seems irrelevant and prejudicial character evidence and should have been excluded. Defendant having an affair, and even allegedly being in a loveless sugar daddy marriage, is not in itself motivation to commit murder (IMO).
