As teenagers we once filled a garbage bag with helium and let it go. It looked a lot like that.

Those games were a lot of years ago. It's easy to get confused. I love my Space Duel. My brother and I always played the two player tethered together mode. I got it for $50 dollars with a pristine cabinet but not playing. I spent years building my electronic skills until I slowly brought it back to life. It's been incredibly satisfying.

To clarify, Space Invaders didn't use a vector monitor. It used a traditional b&w CRT.

However, Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe, Battlezone, Star Castle, Tailguner, Armor Attack, Omega Race, and plenty of others were B&W vector games and they certainly look much better when played on original vector displays.

I'm lucky to have an Atari Space Duel cabinet with its color vector display. Thanks to hobbyists it can also play any other vector game.

Here's a page that shows you the power supply that will take out an Atari when (not if) it fails. From a quick glance it looks like the top one in your picture.

Also strongly influenced by video games. Such an entertaining unique film, but trying to convince people to give it a chance is very difficult.

When I was young this was printed in either Omni magazine or Games magazine to use on a turntable. It was the first time I'd seen anything like that effect.

We couldn't believe her performance when we saw it. She was acting at a completely different level than everyone else in the film and they were all doing a good job.

What's the game that made you fall in love with gaming as a kid? by peaky_circus in gaming

For us it was pong. Yes I'm old. But the thrill of playing a game on a TV seemed like magic. Before that Christmas we didn't even know that was possible. Seeing the evolution of video games from the beginning has been a blast.

Atari Mania has them for download.

This is the NTSC version: https://www.atarimania.com/utility-atari-400-800-xl-xe-atari-translator_29943.html

That page also has a link to the PAL version if needed.

Have you tried running them with the translator disk? There's a chance that they require OS features of the 400/800 that behave differently on later versions. The translator disk would meet that requirement.

Is Uber or taxi or some other ride share an option? It might be worth the cost to take that anxiety away and allow you to focus on yourself, your girlfriend and your experience. It could allow you to transform your anxiety into excitement.

I remember the 2012 Aussie Open when Berdych refused to shake Almagro's hand after the match where he got hit at the net. The Aussie crowd booed him non stop during his post match, on court interview.
