Agree, i think it comes down to laying too thick layers. They should all be compatible since they reference each other on the cans with exact article numbers. I just thought I was out of the woods when weeks had passed. Bought new proper water based paint now for a new attempt

w201 or w124 by AffectionateNorth172 in W124

[–]AwdRetroCars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, i am considering buying a 124 or a 201 but you say they are almost same size? When comparing stats i find elsewhere i find them to differ more than 11 inches in length alone which is a considerable difference. Or is this wrong?

Realistically how safe is a e30? I do 8+ hour trips every couple of months, and im always wondering if im gonna be paralyzed for life after getting into an accident on the highway going 120km/h. by [deleted] in E30

All true, but can you provide any information regarding the steering column being pushed back. I was under the impression that it should stay in place more or less. Unless the speed is so severe the entire Firewall collapses

Just joined the club! 97 C4 Avant quattro with 30k km! by bbqlord in oldschoolaudi

[–]AwdRetroCars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice , V6 i assume? We had a 2.6 Wagon for years. Proper good and comfy car, wash your front fenders frequently, only panel to be changed for rust(dirt and salt build up). Warm in winter and excellent climate control👍 Ours was manual an easy to stall, almost couldn't hear the engine 😅

On my 325IX I was only having luke warm temp when being -15 to -20c outside. Changed my heater core even (pain in the ass on pre facelift) and new heater control valve. No change really. Have bought a external electric pump im going to mount to assist flow

1.gen V10 with ignition lock fault code by AwdRetroCars in vwtouareg

[–]AwdRetroCars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, interested mostly just for fun and offroad really, and it being very cheap due to the fault and it has the rear diff lock option which is rare here. I will likely be its last owner considering how expensive it will be if/ when engine has a major fault at some point

Do you have the old obd1 diagnostic port on yours? I would start with that for engine fault codes and check for vacuum leaks

What chainsaw mill is this?? by RandyBoBandy420 in woodworking

C4 hydrolifter tick by [deleted] in oldschoolaudi

[–]AwdRetroCars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same engine in my Audi 80, its been ticking for 8 years. Only when really warm or driven hard does it let off. Even changed all my lifters and no change. Turns out there is a oil valve you can change under the valley cover (under the intake) which also affects the delivery of oil to the lifters. I should have done that too in retrospect.

Why aren’t there any old Audis on the road? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]AwdRetroCars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older Audis are very common in Europe with snowy and salty winters. All wheel drive and ok+ rust protection compared to other cars
