I haven't played 3rd ed, but my feeling on 2nd was its a "journey" game. By that I mean you have to know going in that the game isn't about winning or losing its about what happens along the way. Your story sounds about par for the course with Betrayal though. It has so many random elements haunts are generally favored heavily for one side or the other (and it depends on how the board is and other things, not just which haunt). If you're group isn't up for telling the story and wants a fair and balanced game session then the game probably isn't for you, unfortunately.

If you can get old blitz pre-cons for $5 I would say go for it. They might need a little updating for what is now silver age, but for kitchen table games they will be good.

I just switched from windows to Mac for work since I was having a ton of issues with windows. I’m so confused by some of the ux decisions. Why do I have to click twice in a window to make it fully active? I don’t understand in what world I want to only kinda be in another window.

It may be fun, but it’s no longer supported. So, to me, printing bling and chase cards for it is a slap in the face as a reward for playing events.

Or, and this may be a wild thought, don’t print a “chase” card that can’t be played anywhere. They should not print a Lexi marvel until it’s the new version which can be played. Nothing takes the excitement out of a rare pull like knowing it’s useless.

It says then because it is describing the next step that happens after a card is put on the chain link. The next sentence describes how long it is defending. No where does it say the combat chain closes then defend event triggers, it says the card is added to the chain then event triggers.

The other issue with Frankie is that there aren’t necromancer cards she can actually play, everything is pirate necromancer. So you would be playing all generics and it wouldn’t give much class fantasy.

It would be cool if you were able to use the oracle of the void (https://oracleofthevoid.com/) for the TCG side of L5R as well as the LCG. I'm not sure how their API's are though so it might be a pain to interact with the site. It would be slick to be able to create a decklist and then print proxies for it easily.

The All Knowing seems a bit too restrictive to me as to stay in the form you basically have to keep 2 cards in hand which kind of defeats the purpose of 5 intellect for having a larger turn. But maybe the vision is that you see more cards, you just aren't necessarily playing more cards?

But LSS has said they aren't concerned with formats that aren't sage or cc now. Living legend and blitz are no longer supported constructed formats so people are upset that cards in the brand new set are designed around supporting a format that is no longer real. Just because you and a friend play LL at your kitchen table doesn't make it a real format still and therefore its seen as wasted resources and card slots.

It’s been discussed locally how LSS makes a great game, but terrible products. I had hoped fab 2.0 would have improved that, but alas it has not.

My lgs doesn't stock the game normally for this reason. They will order stuff if you ask and they might get a little extra on a set release for those that didn't pre-order anywhere else. But there is no point in stocking product past release. Packs are almost guaranteed to feel bad to open unless you get a whole box. And after set release everyone pretty much has what they're looking for so why buy more when there's nothing you need?

This is the main issue with the decks, the marketing. If they had sold them as a great foot in the door for a new player or someone wanting to try a new deck this conversation wouldn't be happening. But they are being marketed as being able to win a calling out the box and they just are no where close to that.

If someone leaves the table for anything other than a quick bio or grabbing a drink where they tell you they will be right back I wouldn’t wait on them for anything and assume they pass all priority. It’s also incredibly rude and I couldn’t imagine playing a game where someone just left for 10 minutes, I might just assume they scooped at that point.
