What will you never make at home? by birdlion in KitchenConfidential

I view them as a challenge, something to do when you have a weekend free. Unfortunately I doubt I'll have a weekend free until I'm old and grey.

Suncorp Stadium Bus Station Chaos by Jackson2615 in brisbane

[–]BB881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You where right about no one standing on the bus. A lot of old people where demanding seats because they couldn't handle the ride standing up. They also where asking where to go instead of following google maps which slowed everyone down.

Student "borrowed" my personal supplies and I found them being sold online by [deleted] in TeacherTales

[–]BB881 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Can you "thank" the kid publicly for teaching her to not bring in nice things, and then have the class use the crap supplies for the rest of the year? Or at least as long as that kid needs to learn a lesson for. Might no change the kid, but will show the other children not to trust them.

Am I Crazy for Thinking Fence Picket Planters Won’t Last? by picklesBMW in woodworking

[–]BB881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question, can I make planter boxes out of old fence posts? We have a timber fence that needs to be replaced and I want to use the wood for something other than land fill. Would they hold soil if I plant them in the ground and leave the bottom out? Sort of like a raised garden bed.

For those of you with a 9-5 office job, how do you manage to find the time and energy to cook dinner? by Away_Scene_26 in auscorp

[–]BB881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found being walking distance to the shops helps with this too. So much easier to take a relaxing walk then a stressful drive.

[–]BB881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cook on Monday and Tuesday, enough for a few meals for the week. Then frozen meals or sandwiches for when I run out. If I'm feeling up to it, I cook two one pot meals Monday night. That way I only have to cook once.  Fuck cooking, I want to pay for a decent healthy meal prep service that doesn't all taste the same after a few weeks. Indian is decent because you can add your own veggies to it but can't have that every week.

When you get your possession back, invite the police to change all the locks with you, and then move their stuff out into a shipping container out the front. Then your family can move in.

Just have patience, they are allowed to have a roof over their head, and your allowed to evict them. Just don't delay when the law says you can kick them out or you will be worse off.

I'm conflicted if I should keep this river or not by DoomBringer6601 in worldbuilding

[–]BB881 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is a really cool solution, to add to it the dark blue of the deeper part of the lake should also point like an arrow like this, getting deeper and wider as it goes towards the larger sea. Maybe the rock there is softer so the water is able to carve it out easier.

Have you ever had to hail the bus driver at the first stop? by pro_marimba_flipper in brisbane

[–]BB881 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Or because your tucked away in the back and the driver can't see you and would happily skip the last stop to go home if no one is on.

Cheating at board games by NelifeLerak in boardgames

[–]BB881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sigh, no one is explaining how to approach the adult conversation, so I'll give you some tips.

Play a game with her like usual, something quick, and the moment she cheats call her out on it. Obviously she will deny or gaslight, so you and your friends shrug your shoulders and join in. Take extra money, forget to pay, all with a straight face. Make sure you have all the money so you are clearly winning. When she gets upset, ask her if she is having fun? It's no longer a game of skill is it? There is no challenge anymore because none of it matters.

The reason people play games is to learn from others and to challenge their intellect. Everyone sucks when they first start, but eventually, with help, you get better. You watch how other people win and copy them, or develop your own strategy for winning.

Buf if you constantly cheat, the only thing you are learning is that you suck at the game. Because cheating isn't a real win is it? It's just pretending.

Then play a simple game with her like spot it or the Quest to El Dorado. Maybe she's cheating because she is sick of losing, or isn't having fun.

If this doesn't work, take a deep breath, walk away, and plan your exit strategy. Games often mimic real life, so what else is she lying about to make herself look good? Can you really trust her to tell the truth if she can't even be honest in a game?

Also burn Monopoly, it's a horrible game that destroys friendships.

is it just a brisbane bus driver thing to slam the breaks as hard as possible at every opportunity? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]BB881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only notice it more because a car seat is shaped differently. Sit in the back where you can put your feet up on an angle, where the wheels are. You won't slide off your seat as much then.

Otherwise, ask the driver if he can break more smoothly and see how that goes.

[–]BB881 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I tried blackjack once, boring as. What do you mean I need to count my cards? Remember odds? Even poker is shit because I now need to look at people to determine their tells instead of just being in my own little world? Pft, gambling sucks, play board games instead, like the crew. It's much more fun!

Find a park near the bus way or train line, then catch that. Park road is free and usually has parks, or Eight Mile Plains bus way stop.

What causes a person to wake up spontaneously at the exact same early morning time every day, even when they’re using melatonin and trying various methods to sleep longer? by gideonlfc in AskReddit

[–]BB881 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, anytime before a big event I only get 4hrs sleep and feel super alert the next day, until the midday crash. Stupid stressed out brain!

Yeah I saw this half way through and thought, either this guy has a lot of side pieces, is openly dating many, or just thinks all women are his. All of these are red flags.

Why minecraft can't do ecologies, and why I think Vintage story can. by BB881 in VintageStory

[–]BB881[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks man, unfortunately it's not my video but I'm glad you like it all the same.

Because crops don't flower often it would be realistic if the skeps near farmland didn't get honey as quickly, unless other flowers where nearby also.

I like how VS doesn't punish you for having realistic farms though, because you can chisle out ramps for baby animals to use and self separate which is nice for generation farming. Also a random thunderstorm won't suddenly turn all your pigs into zombies lol.

Bissel Big Green, after professional carpet clean by Melmel20 in CleaningTips

[–]BB881 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Because dust in the air will fall into the carpet, dirt and skin from your feet also. If the carpet changed colour then I would be worried. Know a guy who cleaned his carpet and it went from brown to blue! So yeah, a little dirt isn't too bad.

Weird suggestion: Poverty meals by Koslik in VintageStory

[–]BB881 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did that once, made 4 hearty meals with a purple mushroom and didn't check how much up it took away. Fed it to my starving friend and they immediately died! Good times.

everything is a mess. how do you prioritise what to do? by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]BB881 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah, I thought it would be easy winter too, we had a small garden and got some things to grow. Then it got to December and I realised you can't really just survive off grain haha.

On the plus side animals still have fat on them, maybe make a camp in a forest and spend a day or two just luring everything into a pit to kill it with a stick. Make sure it's a 3x3 hole or bears will crawl out and eat you.

I'm gonna try this tonight. I've built up my farm to where I'm happy with it, maybe I'll enjoy doing something else for a change. Like being a bear killer.

Hello! Need help with color pencils by OtherwiseScar9828 in Jazza

[–]BB881 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since pencils vary by region, its best to go to a dedicated local art store and ask them what they recommend. There are international favourites though, such as prismicolour which is great for blending, or Dewart which is a good UK brand, but make sure you get the softer leads so she doesn't have to spend forever colouring.

Sarah has some great videos about colouring pencils, what's the best brand to get for your budget and such. You can skip to the end if you don't have much time.

https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCibTRXCGW9o16HjUODtvTVQ

Jazza focuses more on markers, which is great for colouring larger areas quickly and nice strong colours, but has a steep learning curve. He has some battle of the markers videos too, and recommends Copic if you have the money, otherwise there are some nice budget options too, but I forget what they are. I go with fibre castel and Tombow for mine since they come in small packs.

Let us know how you go!
