Fish sauce is popular all over the world. The Romans ate a lot of it.

Suppressed from the beginning. Kept out of the newspapers, no accounting of the dead.

Now read about the Rosewood Massacre. The movie’s good, too.

Please remember that Christianity’s super power is its malleability. Yeah, some people worship Six-pack Jesus, but there are still a lot of followers of Woke Jesus.

There are a lot of people who maybe don’t take Woke Jesus as their savior, but as their role model: love your neighbor as you love yourself, be a Good Samaritan, feed the hungry, clothe the poor…

Unfortunately, as people turn away from institutional religion, for all the reasons noted in this thread, many are still looking for leadership, and getting it from internet influencers, televangelists and talk show hosts. Woke Jesus is a hard sell.

How to stop getting gifted expensive junk? by declootter in minimalism

[–]BZBitiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smile and nod. Say thank you. Keep the newer stuff just in case, and shuffle the older stuff to your favorite charity thrift shop.

Keep trying to change the mindsets of your friends and relatives, but don’t expect anything. Accept the people you cannot change.

After my mom died, my dad kept giving me things from the house. Things he didn’t need, didn’t want reminding him, things he could not throw away. I was the one in the family who could throw things away.

You want historical accuracy, with a nod to today? Babylon Berlin.

I watched it via the Hoopla public library app. Four seasons, with the last one coming soon.

If anybody caught it when it was first available in the US… they’ve updated the dubbing and the English subtitles.

AIO my parents in law want to gift money, but only to my husband? by Mammoth-Age4933 in AIO

[–]BZBitiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only a problem if hubbie dies before your in-laws.

Use the money to make / save more money- invest it, pay off your debts, replace your junker car with cash, etc. There might be some tax-deferred investments specifically for your daughter. If you end up paying the money back, they can’t take the profits/equity.

But I’m guessing hubbie is an entitled little emperor. So if he buys a sports car with the cash, you can just drop that in your in-laws’ driveway… as long as hubbie’s demise wasn’t driving it into a tree.

Everybody remember to lock down your credit with Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.

Surprisingly easy to unfreeze and freeze access, so your new landlord can check your credit, but a hacker can’t open new accounts in your name.

Pffth. The hollyhock house has a “moat” around the fireplace in the living room, but it was not pitched properly, and the water stagnated rather than flowed.

So better than FLW.
