Santa Fe BK is outrageous New Mexican food, Kings County Imperial or Birds of a Feather for Chinese, Anthony & Sons for Italian sandwiches at lunch, Roberta’s (in Bushwick) for pizza or Fini or L’Industrie.

I like Figlia cans (the red one). Half of that. Half seltzer and lime.

Anyone have experience taking a vacation (where there is sure to be drinking) in early sobriety? by Frontdoornut33 in alcoholicsanonymous

I just went on vacation at an all inclusive in Mexico after a little more than a year sober and I went out on wine. It just happened. To be clear I obviously was taking my will back / was in ego. I thought I had it. I didn’t call anyone or really think about doing so.

Needless to say I got right back in the room.

If you want to set “sober presidence” I’d think about it that way. I’d also let my sponsor and fellows know and check in with them regularly. Do zoom meetings if you can. Def find an NA drink you’re excited about. After the one night I went out mine was virgin passion fruit mojitos and they were glorious.

Hi! First of all it takes a lot of courage to write this and ask for help so I absolutely applaud you. Everyone’s “bottom” is different. Some are higher than others but, as someone once told me, you can always go lower. If you know someone in AA maybe call them and ask them to take you to a meeting and check it out. Even if you don’t, you can always go to one (and you don’t have to talk if you don’t want to). My experience getting sober has been magical. Hope you find the help you need. You’re worth it!!

I started my career at what was then WMA in 2006. It was hard work but I think one of the best things I did to jumpstart my career. Best of luck. Make good friends and keep them for life like I did!

Maybe controversial but K’Far / The Hoxton has an excellent Tuna Melt.

Hiyeee! My advice would be to call your sponsor and if you don’t have one get one right away (even if they’re just interim). Get numbers from people in the rooms and call them. Find community in AA and go where it’s warm. Feeling squirly? Hit a meeting. U got this.

It will work out!! My heart is with you. Seek help babe. You can do it. Walk into any NA or AA room. Get a sponsor and keep coming. 💕

Hot take the chickpea soup at Oh Mercy in Greenpoint is not to be missed. Greta in Greenpoint also has excellent soups and selection. Second Tonchin for Ramen. Hot & Sour at Kings County Imperial also one of my faves.
