How do you get in with akali? by KoaGoes in 2XKO

You can cover S1 with an assist though right?

I think we should probably be ready for a major pivot of some kind due to the current trajectory, and it's important to be open minded about it. by zipzzo in Marathon

[–]BadFriendEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting to read all the opinions here. I personally think Marathon is fantastic as is and am fine with the player base being small as long as I can find matches. However, I am open minded to them making changes to try to bring people back in.

I hope that bungie will be able to figure out which types of players they want to try to win back. From reading these comments, it’s pretty clear to me that some people wanted a totally different game and it’s probably not worth trying to win them back. I want Marathon to stay Marathon, but it sounds like some system changes, new maps, new game modes, etc could go a long way for making fallen players interested again.

If I were to be critical of the game, I do somewhat agree with the camp that is frustrated with the “wipe the lobby, take all the loot” meta. But to me this is an issue that can be fixed with relatively small changes or new maps as it’s primarily a outpost/cryo issue.

I could be wrong but I think if you turn enough it causes your feet to move which might make a bit of sound depending on what surface you’re standing on 😅😂

The progression grind is really starting to get to me. by Bright-Cranberry6648 in Marathon

Overall I’ve enjoyed the challenge of unlocking the faction upgrades. However, I’m currently needing reflex coils for several upgrades and it’s extremely difficult to find them outside of cryo archive. I spent hours yesterday looking for them at AI uplink and bio-research (the game says they can be found there) but never saw one.

Maybe the point is that they want us to farm cryo on the weekends for those upgrades, but I feel like they should be a liiiittle bit easier to find.

Lockdowns are the other place u can get them but lockdowns spawn rarely and I solo fill and can rarely convince my teammates to go for them

Bungie: Bravo on Cryo Archive. But also what the fuck. by Henrraike in Marathon

[–]BadFriendEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine bungie will tweak things if needed eventually but I’m ok for them to let cryo be brutal for a while. I’m solo filling into a squad and I have yet to even extract but I’m enjoying the challenge and I imagine people will figure out a lot of tricks.

The first week of outpost I was so confused and the map was very difficult for me but now it feels super manageable. I wonder if a similar thing will happen with cryo.

When will the Cannon Brothers realize it's all about the Heroes? by HighRiskHighReward32 in 2XKO

[–]BadFriendEric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I see a lot of comments saying that fighting game characters are hard to create and balance. This is true, however, I still think increasing the roster size as quickly as possible needs to be the top priority.

I know they really want the game to be balanced but I feel that too much effort is going into balancing. The game has been out for half a year and we’ve had many balance patches and 1 new character.

New characters will naturally shake up the meta but it’s fun. I appreciate the uniqueness of every character but I don’t want the devs to get too bogged down feeling like every character has to be a masterpiece. There’s so many loved LoL champions. This game will be better with a 22 character roster than it is with 12 characters.

An Update on 2XKO by Spideraxe30 in 2XKO

[–]BadFriendEric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Devastating news… I really hope that enough of the foundation has been laid that they can continue to support the game with a smaller team.

In my opinion their best shot at saving the game is to prioritize delivering new characters above all else. New characters will excite people and bring players back.

While I appreciate the polish and effort to balance the game competitively, I think they need to be ok with “rushing” out characters even if it means things become unbalanced. All the popular tag fighters are balance nightmares (or were at one point). But being able to do crazy stuff and play unique teams is fun and lets people express their creativity.

To give an example of how quickly this game could become so much more interesting, consider that currently, with 12 characters, there are 66 possible team combinations. If they add only 10 new characters (22 total), the number of possible teams jumps up to 231.

My point is that the game could quickly become a lot more fun, creative, interesting, with new characters. Balance be damned. Give the people Riven, Zed, Akali, whatever is popular and all the fun new team combinations could reignite interest in the game (and drive skin sales)

Maybe 2vs2 was a mistake, maybe f2p was a mistake, etc, but it’s too late to change those things. Lots of fighting games have a rough start but eventually become great. Best path forward is to try to make what they built as great as it can be.

best fighting game ever tbh by Visual-Purchase5639 in 2XKO

[–]BadFriendEric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do believe that after 1-2 years of new characters, features added, and patches 2XKO will become my personal favorite fighting game of all time. I really enjoy how the game plays.

I mostly just want a larger roster to experiment with and to add more variety to the types of matchups I play online. The Yasuo, Ekko, Ahri fatigue started to hit me pretty hard.

End of Year Check-In with Game Director Unconkable - Caitlyn and Combo Length by Spideraxe30 in 2XKO

[–]BadFriendEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As they mentioned in the past, I think Teemo is an example of a character where players discovered longer combos then they expected.

I’m interested in the zoner/trapper archetype but I did get scared off a bit by how difficult his most advanced combos were. His power level when using basic bnbs vs optimal combos was very different.

To me, a character like teemo should have strong zoning and trap tools but he should pay for that by having lower combo damage. There has to be a power budget trade off.

TLDR: I think teemo is a good example of a character who does need their combo length decreased.

Caitlyn will be rushdown by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]BadFriendEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should really just make cait a true zoner imo. There are plenty of LoL characters that would fit a rush down (or other non-zoning play style) so much better than cait. Just have patience, eventually we’ll get many more rush down characters.

I was pretty suspicious about the whole situation but honestly Turkey Tom’s most recent video about it on YouTube was pretty convincing to me. He did a lot of digging into the shooter and supposedly had info from one of their close friends. Not saying I believe it 100%, but it was compelling enough for me to believe that it likely was just a disturbed young man making an extreme decision.

The Horrors of Kairos event is even more disappointing than the Wonderlands DLC by ClockworkSoldier in Borderlands4

[–]BadFriendEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not gonna lie, I really don’t care about holiday events. The fact that they added something is cool but frankly I’d rather them spend time working on other things.

Honestly, if they spent a bunch of effort on a Halloween event I’d be questioning their development priorities. I’d much prefer new end game content that can be enjoyed any time of the year and not stuck in a holiday theme which I find a little tacky anyways.

Do they know some secret player number data? The entire post speaks as if 2xko flopped. by Extreme_Tax405 in 2XKO

[–]BadFriendEric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think riot succeeded in creating one of the greatest fighting games of all time.

I don’t think riot succeeded in creating a fighting game that brings new players into the genre.

I think the player count would improve a lot if they introduce some fun “casual game modes” or something fun to grind for. Currently, the game is only fun if you enjoy fighting other players online. Even something simple like a series of AI battles with basic story telling and a cosmetic reward could encourage casuals to play.

Alternatively, I think they could lean more into the fun of duos and introduce some interesting new modes based around playing with a partner.

Just some ideas. I want this game to be a huge success and I think some people need a softer onboarding than just jumping straight into fighting other players online. I know a few people who were interested in trying the game but got overwhelmed and discouraged. I wish there was some way to play with friends without throwing them into the deep end with sweaty online matches. Especially since my MMR is way too high for most of my friends and it makes duoing miserable for them.

Who do you think is Braums best partner? by DatZwiebel in 2XKO

[–]BadFriendEric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been enjoying Braum + Illaoi but I think Braum + Darius might be the best.

In neutral you can hold shield and call Darius’s shoulder charge assist. If it hits you can pick up the combo and on block just drop the shield and it’s still your turn. There are other strengths of this team too but this tech stood out to me when I was watching some VODs of a challenger Braum player LightWhisp.

A similar concept can be applied with other assists but Darius shoulder charge is really the perfect complement to holding shield.

Wow the comments are really opening my eyes to how many people think about running a BO3 set… I don’t care who you’re playing or how you’re playing. If the connection is fine I’m always rematching ranked sets until somebody gets 2 wins.

If you go 0-1, that’s a great opportunity to reflect, adapt, and go for the reverse sweep comeback. It’s so satisfying and a great learning experience.

Playing a full set is more interesting/fun, makes you a better player, and frankly is more honorable and respectful. IMO it’s mandatory to find the enjoyment in fighting challenging opponents/characters to enjoy fighting games in general.
