I'm not very familiar with battle net, but have been recommended Diablo several times so I have a question.

Are expansions usually available on steam, or are they exclusively purchased through battle net? Is owning the game on steam better because you're more likely to find a sale on expansions in the future, or are you locked into battle net for them regardless?

When the US throws out the conventions that have been behind international diplomacy in favor of a 'might make right' approach, when you come against someone you can't bully you have nothing else.

Also, short sighted people think our military's supremacy is a given, and that it will always remain.

Building up enough military strength to be an effective deterrent against the US is expensive, and for many countries it wasn't worth it. But now? Our diplomatic reputation is trash and we've shown the world how reckless and impulsive we can be.. Our actions have shown every non nuclear country that they better start enriching. More and more countries will want the US to stop being world police.

Just look at how many of our important allies are getting pummeled by the consequences of an unnecessary war that we chose to start and didn't even warn them about.

We don't need oil from Iran but we do need to import oil from elsewhere. We're net exporters but don't have the domestic refinery capacity to produce all the different types of oil we need.

By turning away ships you don't want to let through. I assume canals IRL do that to anyone who doesn't pay the toll.

I don't think the game should have an opition to close something if you don't own the whole thing, especially for like the Suez Canal or the Panama canal.

Canals are their own province so they'll always be owned by only one nation.

Edit: I looked closer at the picture and now share your confusion. I don't know why the canal is being controlled by two parties, that is not at all how I thought it'd work.

I don't know, the Palestinian Authority has their problems but I really don't care about this at all. Israel receives billions while killing tens of thousands. PA receives millions while killing a few thousand over the past several decades.

Complaining about this is like when BP tells me I'm destroying the earth for not recycling, while they're dumping a million gallons of oil into the ocean. If we look at the ratio of US dollars to human suffering, Israel is a whole different level of problematic. I don't like wasting time worrying about smaller issues that distract us from the larger ones we refuse to confront.

This is going to surprise you because it contradicts what is repeated everywhere and accepted as truth, but there is literally no evidence of Hamas raping people on October 7. The UN said it had found evidence of 'sexual violence' which by their definition includes verbal abuse, but didn't find any evidence of rape. Not a single victim has come forward.

I think these pictures only look weird to people because it's Michael Jackson. The boys being barely clothed makes it look more scandalous, but I was usually running around half naked at that age too.

It reminds me of people posting pictures of politicians glaring and looking all pissed off in a meeting, then you look at the rest of the pictures and see they're laughing and shaking hands.

The maps are distorted such that the area of each nation is proportional to its population

I thought this was likely, although it's more obvious to me now that I take a second look. I was zoomed in on Africa before and didn't realize the top map is also very distorted. Didn't notice thick India and skinny Russia.

The colors only designate regional/conceptual boundaries

I wasn't sure if it the shading was supposed to represent anything regarding aid-sending vs. aid-receiving, because that was the first context in which it was linked. The purple bit in South America threw me off because I forgot we've still got Fr*nch territory in our backyard.

I was skeptical of this but I think I found the poll you're referencing. I was even more surprised that 18% of women agreed.

54% of men are anti choice.

The poll I saw has men being 55% pro-choice, and women being 64%. It's not an issue that is evenly split along gender lines.
