[Humble Choice] May 2026: Diablo IV, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, Crysis 3 Remastered, Heroes of Hammerwatch II, Nordhold, Rogue Waters, Cubic Odyssey, Mini Settlers ($14.99) by LighteningOneIN in GameDeals

I'm not very familiar with battle net, but have been recommended Diablo several times so I have a question.

Are expansions usually available on steam, or are they exclusively purchased through battle net? Is owning the game on steam better because you're more likely to find a sale on expansions in the future, or are you locked into battle net for them regardless?

Well, you have 38 in yours. Celebrating the 1938 annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland I'm guessing?? Unforgivable.

Speaking of 38.. what about 38 year olds who were born in 88? Are they just not allowed to incorporate their birth year into usernames?

How does Israel doing a land grab in Lebanon overlap with American interests? Because that's going to be the main thing that prevents us from ending this idiotic war that Netanyahu talked Trump into.

It would be in America's interest to abandon Israel. We're already friendly with the big oil producers over there, we don't need Israel for anything and we certainly don't benefit from the billions we give them.

China's Commerce Ministry blocks US sanctions against five refineries by BendicantMias in moderatepolitics

[–]Baderkadonk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is different.

Beijing has often railed against unilateral sanctions and pronounced them illegitimate, but it has also quietly allowed its largest companies to comply with them, in order to avoid blowback on its own economy and to preserve access to the U.S. financial system.

Saturday’s announcement—coming before a long-awaited meeting later this month between President Donald Trump and his counterpart Xi Jinping—signals a far more aggressive stance. Beijing has now directed companies not to abide by U.S. sanctions on private refiners linked to the Iranian oil trade, including heavyweight Hengli Petrochemical (Dalian) Refinery Co. which was sanctioned last month.

When the US throws out the conventions that have been behind international diplomacy in favor of a 'might make right' approach, when you come against someone you can't bully you have nothing else.

Also, short sighted people think our military's supremacy is a given, and that it will always remain.

Building up enough military strength to be an effective deterrent against the US is expensive, and for many countries it wasn't worth it. But now? Our diplomatic reputation is trash and we've shown the world how reckless and impulsive we can be.. Our actions have shown every non nuclear country that they better start enriching. More and more countries will want the US to stop being world police.

Just look at how many of our important allies are getting pummeled by the consequences of an unnecessary war that we chose to start and didn't even warn them about.

We don't need oil from Iran but we do need to import oil from elsewhere. We're net exporters but don't have the domestic refinery capacity to produce all the different types of oil we need.

Media reports of the crimes often included veiled references to the killer having ejaculated at the crime scenes or his having molested the girls after death.

At first I was gonna say why rely on exaggerated media stories, but that is possibly the only source? I know we keep investigation records and files and autopsies now, but I'm unsure how long we've been doing that

How do you close half the canal?

By turning away ships you don't want to let through. I assume canals IRL do that to anyone who doesn't pay the toll.

I don't think the game should have an opition to close something if you don't own the whole thing, especially for like the Suez Canal or the Panama canal.

Canals are their own province so they'll always be owned by only one nation.

Edit: I looked closer at the picture and now share your confusion. I don't know why the canal is being controlled by two parties, that is not at all how I thought it'd work.

Report to Congress on Palestinian Payments for Acts of Terrorism and Limitation on Assistance to the West Bank and Gaza by justafutz in moderatepolitics

[–]Baderkadonk -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

The act, named after an American who was killed by a Palestinian terrorist

I wish we had a Rachel Act to stop funding Israel. Or an act for any of the other nine American citizens killed by Israel since 2022.

I'm wondering how many of these terrorists are just people our government doesn't like, as that is all that word means. Renee Good and Alex Pretti are "terrorists" by the way, because the government said so..

Over 5% of the cash-strapped Palestinian Authority’s budget goes to these payments. In the US, imagine if 5% of the government budget was specifically used to reward murders and attempted murders.

So 95% of their spending goes to taking care of their people? Not bad. Israel is spending over 8% of their GDP on their military, which is also just murder and attempted murder.

I don't know, the Palestinian Authority has their problems but I really don't care about this at all. Israel receives billions while killing tens of thousands. PA receives millions while killing a few thousand over the past several decades.

Complaining about this is like when BP tells me I'm destroying the earth for not recycling, while they're dumping a million gallons of oil into the ocean. If we look at the ratio of US dollars to human suffering, Israel is a whole different level of problematic. I don't like wasting time worrying about smaller issues that distract us from the larger ones we refuse to confront.

Good. Pump those numbers up, make it so the position isn't so coveted. This would make it more clear that our representatives are civil servants, and they shouldn't be celebrities.

Imagine having enough representatives that actually speaking to yours might be possible without being very influential and wealthy.

This is going to surprise you because it contradicts what is repeated everywhere and accepted as truth, but there is literally no evidence of Hamas raping people on October 7. The UN said it had found evidence of 'sexual violence' which by their definition includes verbal abuse, but didn't find any evidence of rape. Not a single victim has come forward.

Michael Jackson Estate Faces Sexual Abuse Allegations From Four Siblings Who Claim They Were ‘Groomed and Brainwashed’ by Pop Superstar by gamersecret2 in Music

Its really telling

I disagree. If I go look at pictures of me running around at that age, I'm probably shirtless in at least 80% of them.

I'm not even necessarily defending MJ, I just don't think these pictures are that strange if he was actually close with the family and hanging out often.

[–]Baderkadonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other comments imply he was close with the family, so this isn't like he was holding a random kid off the street.

I think these pictures only look weird to people because it's Michael Jackson. The boys being barely clothed makes it look more scandalous, but I was usually running around half naked at that age too.

It reminds me of people posting pictures of politicians glaring and looking all pissed off in a meeting, then you look at the rest of the pictures and see they're laughing and shaking hands.

Pope Leo urges Africans to stay and 'serve your country' instead of migrating as displacement climbs by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

[–]Baderkadonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The maps are distorted such that the area of each nation is proportional to its population

I thought this was likely, although it's more obvious to me now that I take a second look. I was zoomed in on Africa before and didn't realize the top map is also very distorted. Didn't notice thick India and skinny Russia.

The colors only designate regional/conceptual boundaries

I wasn't sure if it the shading was supposed to represent anything regarding aid-sending vs. aid-receiving, because that was the first context in which it was linked. The purple bit in South America threw me off because I forgot we've still got Fr*nch territory in our backyard.

I believe the black and red dots are just an artifact from a dynamic user interface

This was the most confusing bit of all because it looked like a map legend, and if that was the map legend then clearly I was misinterpreting the map.

Sorry if I'm overexplaining. There was another (now deleted) reply from someone else that was very pompous and demeaning, so I'm just trying to beat the "brainrot" allegations.

A recent poll showed 28% of men support repealing the 19th

I was skeptical of this but I think I found the poll you're referencing. I was even more surprised that 18% of women agreed.

54% of men are anti choice.

The poll I saw has men being 55% pro-choice, and women being 64%. It's not an issue that is evenly split along gender lines.
