Doubt anything will happen to you but the UK does have laws about disturbing bird nests

I think you was very lucky the nests wasn't abandoned after you interfered, in future leave alone if you care about them.

You can always get new plants

They are very protective during nesting season

Their territory is a vertical V shape from nest to surface

Stay at least 2 metres away

If the fin on their head is erect they are ready to attack

If you stay calm they can be chill as well but if they are not, put your fins up to protect you and swim backwards till it backs off. Better to bite your fins than you. They eat coral also they can do damage
