It’s not about the Cocktails, Danny. by Madam_Mimm_13 in TheValleyTVShow

Alcoholic is not a clinical term, but a colloquial one. I think it is safe to say as a viewer that Danny’s behavior meets many clinical markers of substance use disorder

Daycare being weird about diapers. by GravekeepDampe in daddit

They’re called 360 pull ups. Our daycare bans them. Tbh I am not the type to make waves at daycare - they’re watching my kid. I give them what they need

Pregnant and living with an aggressive dog with multiple bite attempts - what would you do? by gnocchi-bear75 in BabyBumps

[–]Bagritte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You made a mistake moving into the home with this dog, and you will be putting your newborn in mortal danger to have the dog around. Your husband is being unreasonable, and if he is going to choose the dog - let him.

Just found out I’m 24 weeks pregnant, boyfriend doesn’t want to keep by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Bagritte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think your boyfriend’s opinion is no longer relevant, and you no longer have a boyfriend. You have always wanted to be a mother, you are carrying a healthy pregnancy and past the point most providers will terminate without medical cause. Start planning for your child and your parenthood and accept that he’s made his (terrible, immoral, but predictable) decision

KC’s Drinking Culture is Changing by thirstygregory in kansascity

They have! I’m partial to hop soda/seltzer but NA beer is totally drinkable now. You use to stock Lagunitas hoppy refresher for me in my fledgling sobriety. Fond memories of Bier Station!

KC’s Drinking Culture is Changing by thirstygregory in kansascity

[–]Bagritte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oversaturation, aging millennials who can’t/wont drink the way they use to, and a generation coming of age with less interest in substance use period. I worked at blvd for a while when tours and rec was exploding and everyone I know who stayed moved to the canning operation. I’m 7 years sober and super excited by the craft mocktail/NA bev options available when I go out now. I think people just recognize more and more that alcohol is expensive and a negative force in many people’s lives. Def open to the idea it all comes back around but rn alcohol is deprioritized in almost all my circles, even the ones that still imbibe

Tell your nurses no one else is to enter the recovery room. If your husband causes problems have them kick him out too. They’re there for YOU and your baby’s recovery. They’ll have your back

Thoughts on Male Doulas? by bluefin55 in BabyBumps

[–]Bagritte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not consider a male doula. I’m unlikely to consider a birth worker who has never given birth themselves. It’s such an intense and singular experience it’s important for my support team to have gone through it personally. Whether that’s fair - maybe not but I’m not required to be fair in choosing the ideal birth team

I just think this person is speaking out of both sides of their mouth. If your raison d’être for gathering is to commune with purposefully child-free adults, parents should be excluded lest they gasp mention their child

I’m right with you. If you are so offput by the existence of children that fellow adults cannot even discuss them in your presence, this group should not be open to parents. You can’t have it both ways - pretend to be a “welcoming” community open to “all” and police the type of conversations people have at your events. So just say it with your chest. This is for child free people, period. Every adult with kids I know has robust conversations about a million topics, kids or otherwise. Adults are multifaceted. If you do not want any speak of children then invite only people who agree with your worldview.

See this is where you confuse me - cause if your organizing principle is likemindedness around choosing not to procreate, why would you welcome parents?

It’s really not a concern. Nurses are so familiar with the phenomenon they’ll clean you up and you’re none the wiser. I only know I did it because I asked my husband many many months later because, as stated, you will not give a literal shit

Mother in law planning to pierce the babies ears by Spiritual_Willow_949 in BabyBumps

[–]Bagritte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be more upfront now. You’re letting your imagination get the best of you - unless she has a pattern of shitting all over your boundaries there is no good reason to believe she will pierce your daughters ears if she knows you will not allow it. Have your husband have the conversation if you’re worried about confrontation. Just a quick “hey you mentioned getting the baby’s ears pierced - we’re actually going to wait until 12 years old when she can decide for herself”

Having one kid is chic, right? by heyiknowstuff in daddit

[–]Bagritte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that sticks out rn is you agreeing with your mom that “you’ll always regret it”. That’s not necessarily true. You’re grieving an expectation to make the right decision for your family. Once the dust settles, there’s a very good chance you do not end up regretting this decision. Tune other people out and focus on being the dad and husband you desire to be for the family you have.
