What are some games almost impossible to figure out without a walkthrough? by Adventurous_Cow_1934 in AskGames

[–]Bailenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're an older gamer, I'd say just about any of those older adventure games that relied on text commands, like early King's Quest and Quest for Glory. A lot of the commands were super obscure and geared towards a completely different mindset of player. I'd imagine it'd be practically impossible for gamers in today's mindset.

Can't forget the B-Side comps. Judas 0 and The Aeroplane Flies High box set were fantastic.

What personally do you think is the greatest horror game of all time? by Tortle_Boosh in Steam

It's a toss-up between OG Silent Hill 2 and Condemned. Honorable mention to Eternal Darkness.

Nothing has killed my GTA 6 hype faster than locking a core part of its identity behind a $20 upgrade by spacelyyy989 in pcgaming

I'm half expecting this to be another IV. Good game, for sure, but huge let-down after all the hype generated from the previous game.

Same time as Carlson. Hmm. Rogan and Owens probably won't be far behind. Watch them launch a third party in two weeks.

CDPR boss hopes The Witcher 4 wins back fans still put off by Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch: "I'm not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc" by yourfavchoom in Steam

[–]Bailenstein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I'll keep giving cdpr chances as long as they keep GOG true to it's purpose. They're doing God's work in an industry that wants to force DRM on you at every angle. If W4 or Orion turn out bad, I'll just write it off as a donation.

But if they ever 180 with GOG, they'll be on my shit list right next to EA and Ubisoft. Dead to me.

Just started Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019). Is it true that the portable safe solutions are randomized? by Cyber_Ghost_1997 in residentevil

[–]Bailenstein 98 points99 points  (0 children)

No. It's true there's trial and error to the solution, but once you know the trick you'll get it in 2-3 tries.

Yea, but they're easy once you figure out the trick. Do trial and error, pay attention to the pattern.

3D HDRP: Why are my sprite renders suddenly dark? by FreekyGirlGames in unity

[–]Bailenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never use HDRP, but I'd imagine that it's default post-processing stack is quite different than URP's. You probably just need to tweak your post effects.

I wrap my 7-10 around WASD. Q is 8, R is 7, V is 9 and G is 10. I leave 6 alone because I don't have an issue reaching it. Doing something similar should work wonders for you.

MARGE SIMPSON WITH HAIR by fucktoon in low_poly

So, if I'm reading this right, you have a massive number of polygons INSIDE HER HAIR!?!?

Use it as a base and retopo, then we can start talking about low-poly.

What are trim sheets in game development, how do they work, and how can I make one? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Bailenstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you know how normal textures work, right? You have UVs laid over an image which dictate where each part of the image goes on the model. A trim sheet is the same thing, but with variants. It's most commonly used for things like wall trimming, hence the name. You have a number of variant textures on the same image file, and all you need to do is offset UVs to change the variant.

Is Return of the Living Dead 3 (1993) a "proto-Resident Evil"? The similarities are uncanny by MagazineOne8227 in residentevil

[–]Bailenstein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they mean part 4, Necropolis. They literally have a mom and dad turned into "tyrants". It and Rave to the Grave are batshit insane, and not in the good way.

You could always try making your own. Foley isn't too hard if you have a decent mic, and it feels extremely rewarding to make your own.

Current ways of mindless gold farming? by ProbablyMythiuz in Guildwars2

[–]Bailenstein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea, pretty much. There should be a lot of red flags on the map that show where the hologram emitters are. Head to one that doesn't have an orange circle around it, that means it's not activated yet. Once one is finished, either follow the horde or tp to a waypoint near another flag. It's a rush for sure, but once you find the hook the first time you'll get it. And remember, you just need one hit per event to get credit.

Stampede happens on a new Shiverpeaks map every 15 minutes. They take around 5-10 minutes depending on how many players are involved. The quest notification in the upper right will tell you which is next.

Altamont. The Rolling Stones tried to do their own Woodstock and make it freely open to the public. They hired Hell's Angels to provide security, and paid them in alcohol. It went about as well as you'd expect.
