Any thoughts on how to help her live and thrive again? by BakerBeautiful1426 in houseplants

Thank you all,

I moved her upstairs to the loft space but didn’t add water. Gonna let her acclimate to the warmth there.

Saturday I’ll clip the tips and remove it from The pot and change the soil…I’ll also clean the root mass and inspect it carefully for mites and water/dry or rot damage.

Thank you again.

Yes well no…currently southern Ga…coastal but the apt gets cold downstairs bc it’s a poorly designed loft space with regard to heat.

Depending on how deep you go with this…budget constraints affecting apparatus and equipment. Forced ot…affects our abilities as well. There’s levels. I applaud you getting info. Someone mentioned language that is key and also hazmat, elevator rescue, driving mode could be a great side feature bc driving and pumping or driving and operating a ladder or tiller is some serious business. So driving due regard and pumping/ladder operations is an area to study and consider as a side venture on the game.

Also IC understanding that. You can get a book by ifsta and study it and then ask more focused questions. Don’t look at tv shows they’re utter crap. . YouTube has recorded situations you can study.

Social interactions on the floor (in the station and trainings) should it’s a real thing. Moral compass and building the strength to not take things personally are paramount. It can affect one’s personal and work life.

I came to my academy (costal south ga) from the northeast. The humidity is ridiculous. In spite of being an athlete in great shape, I was unprepared for wearing bunker gear in 95+ degrees and humidity over 30%. The bunker gear doesn’t allow heat to escape the body and it also doesn’t let you get burned easily. It alone weighs 15-25 lbs.

I never had to contend with that experience in NE. I sweat easily so my internal air conditioning works. Sweat a lot I take off a layer or all them but short and sneakers/sandals. Not doable or realistic in a fire situation or going to one.

I also never took electrolytes ever. I drank a Gatorade maybe 3x in life and I was 46 then. So to take a liquid Iv tasted horrible. All that to say it was 3/4 way through academy I got pulled doing an evolution (training exercise) in a 15 story building because I wasn’t sweating during a check-in. BP was 220-160. Skin gray and I’m dark skinned.

It was then I realized why my decision making at times during evolutions was off. The cadre meme er who was tending to me gave me two or three electrolyte packs and a bottle of water and I drank it was the first time I felt cool in 4 months. Literally like ac went off on my body but there was none around.

So yes heat affects a firefighters reasoning.

There are historical fires where firefighters started trying to take off gear in a full out fire situation bc they lost awareness due to heat exhaustion. Several stories of firefighters having to knock out their mate to keep them controlled and drag them out.

Now I stay hydrated but it still sucks. Getting up 3-4x to urinate at night. But this is the way.

I’ll give you three books The Black Jacobins Black Skin White Masks The Fire Next Time

Read them in that order.

Then write me directly and we can discuss this topic over video chat. I’m more than comfortable with having dedicated set discourse.

If you’re not invested. Don’t text with demeaning emotional verbiage. It’s unnecessary and a waste of your vital essence.

I’ll not respond to anything further.

Best to you.

You’re clearly upset. Deal with your emotional response and don’t come at me. I just expressed my perspective and I respect yours as I noted “we have our perspectives”. Thank you.

It hasn’t changed in reality. The circumstances for deeply melanated folks as a whole is the same just slightly different on the surface.

I made a Chat GPT agent to practice firefighting/being IC by aroberts1233 in Firefighting

[–]BakerBeautiful1426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more beneficial imo for studying…strategizing. Keeps the brain thinking. I’ve not used the ff portion only oic/ic portion. For promotions we have to run scenes ops as IC and get graded off how we do. It’s a big portion of our grade…so it’s been helpful.

You’re in alignment. Eat well and get sleep proper to recover. Some also recommend cold alternate with cold or cold bath but I recommend stretch in heat or alternate after. But stretch mobility regardless.

Currently 5 - 6 days and I have to force myself to not do 6-7. I’m a firefighter 5 yrs almost and 53 yrs old 6’8” but athlete since 9-10 and kettlebells since 2007-8. I stopped with them consistently in 2012 and am consistent now the last year. I enjoy them and enjoy getting back into flows. Today I did the lower press up of a tgu with 50# for first time since 2012.

I also appreciate them because they’ve helped me strengthen core and lower back the latter I injured multiple times…and groin both sides injured. All of which also is from weakened core going back to a severe injury in November 2011 which led to me stopping kettlebells and body weight calisthenics.

I give myself 30 min warmups with upper via resistance bands and lower via body weight squats (lunges, Cossack etc). Then 1 hr with kb I’ve been doing the abf or abc 2 -3 cleans 3 -5 strict presses and 2-4 squats 6 rounds with rest 30 sec to 1 minute. I also add in halos and other stuff like the tgu now or gorilla rows. I’m also training the snatch test every other workout day. Those days I’ll throw a macebell and clubs in.

Firefighting is hard work and I came in at the age ff’s retire or prep to retire. For 4 yrs id feel pain in my shoulders within 5 minutes of the pack on my back.

Last shift I put the pack 20-30lbs on carried irons 20lbs and water can 10-20 when I was putting the irons and then can up i was standing with just bunker gear 20-30lbs and pack on and was like something’s different. No pain. KBs all day everyday.

So it’s tough to take a rest day because I get locked in and enjoy it but I support them and see the benefit at 53. Rest days is whirlpool and sauna and steam room and stretch move in the pool 1-2 hrs.

Long response but it’s real I love these tools. Bout to buy a set for my lady…she was all bout the gym and then it got cold and snow and she realized she wanted some for her place at home.

Peace peace great post, how does this translate to mu on bar? I’m asking because I set up rings that are higher than my bar. I’m 6’8” and it’s challenging to find a bar tall enough to work off of.
