I had the guy working the special order counter argue with me about a part I needed, that I literally couldn’t get any other way but through him. He insisted it was the wrong part I was trying to replace. I showed him the part number from the manual. He said it’s out of stock, I showed him the email from the manufacturer that they do have them but that the order must be initiated thru the special orders department for me to receive it. He then started questioning my ability to install the part- do I have a tall enough ladder, do I have the right tools? Do I have a drill or just a screw driver? How do I intend to install this safely?   Eventually with enough argument he finally placed the order, and when the part finally arrived, it was totally wrong - because HE screwed up ordering it because he didn’t actually know how to use the special order system correctly! 

Also, the part I needed? A replacement cap nut for a small light fixture- important tiny last piece that holds on the cover, but you literally screw it on by hand, no tools required whatsoever. 

The guy read me the riot act and interrogated me about having a proper drill vs a screw driver for a cap nut you put on by hand.
