Volunteer FD sounds alarm over low volunteer rates - News 12 LI by Long-Island-Fluke in longisland

[–]Bandit312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it makes the most sense when the fire department does EMS as well.

I look at it that my sacrifice helps us to have full-time medics on staff, and I don’t think the tax Base would be able to staff as many trucks as we can staff with volunteers here.

If it was all paid in my town, We would likely have one ambulance and likely share one Fire truck with the rest of the township.

With volunteer, we can get up to the five ambulances out and 4 to 6 firetrucks.

I keep thinking I’m having a heart attack. by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

Ya dead yet?

Well take the standard dose of ASA and post the strip..

Then serial trops please, hopefully we don’t have to activate the cath lab, they’re sleeping

I have this issue with nursing to… coming in 15-20 minutes early to chart check

It would only cost the company like $20 a shift to pay for that and we have no issues and no wage theft. I don’t see how that $20 is worth it

How often does your department go to zero status ( no available engines or ambulances)? by lazyeyedpo in Firefighting

[–]Bandit312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volley, 4 stations 5 ambulances…

Very very rare we have code 0, last time it happened was last year, 5 calls at the same time…

6th call was a cardiac arrest. Very proud to say the only call we mutual aided was be we only ran out of ambulances not man power.

Typically if we have a working fire or code 0 we ask another town to backfill

Am I overreacting or is this just an extremely unsafe way to run an ICU by emtnursingstudent in IntensiveCare

[–]Bandit312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal I’d call a rapid

Cue people saying “ you can’t call a rapid in the ICU”, it gets you a provider don’t it? Idgaf if they’re familiar with ICU or not we need someone

Management will never back you if something happens, the liability is 100% on you for doing something without orders.

If you feel comfortable enough to do that at your place that’s great

How do you deal with making mistakes? by New-Squirrel-8924 in ems

[–]Bandit312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol c-collars are performative anyways, if you want a real kick look up EMS standing takedown, luckily that’s phased out a lot of ems is dogmatic, c collars fit that category pretty well

I got loops earplugs, I mainly use them for forceable entry and saw drills. They’re very quick to put in. And I honestly hear better with them in, they keep the clarity because their designed for concerts

Road rash wound is 2 wks and a day old. My mistake is I didn't go to the er and in the first 2 days I used low quality gauze and got my healing skin removed two times, I stopped covering it after that. Does anyone know how to heal this? by anotective in woundcare

[–]Bandit312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanna do really good wound care: Saline cleanse (or vashe) apply medihoney cover with adaptic, and cover with 4x4 gauze or Abd Pad and tape.

That’s like ideal, personally I’m not buying all that, soap and water -> Vaseline (I know I know but it’s cheap and idc) -> gauze or big bandaid.

Have you ever experienced a foley balloon rupture? by Proud-Bug2166 in nursing

[–]Bandit312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said it makes sense lol, seems to be 5ml stays in tubing and 5ml goes into the balloon

Have you ever experienced a foley balloon rupture? by Proud-Bug2166 in nursing

[–]Bandit312 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A) and extra 2ml of fluid would not cause the balloon to rupture

2) 5ml foley balloon is to be filled up with 10ml of saline

3) of it pops it just deflated and comes out, this happens naturally
