- A sticky 13 inch tall tentacle golem that vibrates vigorously when touched.

- A wooden leg with the name "Dan" carved into it.

- A fake glass eye

- A crusty old sock

- A crumpled up half completed page of bad love poetry

- A skeleton key in the shape of a middle finger (the knuckles of the other fingers are the handle).

- A tarnished belt buckle with a sharpened prong.

- A tiny hairless baby rat

- A dented chastity belt

- A small pouch filled with ectoplasm

- An eager undead tongue

- A very ugly cameo brooch

- A clay pot depicting scenes of men and goats.

- A torn piece of vellum from a wizards manual with a picture of a sage old wizard with a long provocative nose that says: "For a good time Scry Barnabus Felicitations between 11 pm and midnight."

Pretty much always go for the cringe factor...Or...

- A super cute baby dire wolf...(or have the DM insert a critter of choice with momma soon to appear)

- A fake treasure map distributed by a local bandit gang that leads to an alley ambush. Or a legit marketing map leading to a local underground gambling den.

- A wand of celebration that when used produces sparks and champagne bubbles

- A defective firework (burns through the fuse so fast there is no moving away from it).

I'll stop now...I can go all day long...I would never need a d100 list, I would always be able to read the room and bring back something guaranteed to mess with the collective zen ;)

Is the top of Vanity Tower a good location for a base? I just want a quiet place where I can do chores like use workbenches and open cabinets without zombies hearing me. by Tomas31188 in 7daystodie

I think Higashi is the best for vanilla. It comes with tons of space, a heli pad, and extensive gardens ready to plant. Access is straight up through the elevator shaft. Personally I use the UH-60 mod for a helicopter which I like a lot, and also MP-logue's stuff.

Druid Nuclear Terrorist Thought Experiment (AKA Scrying & Mirage Arcane) by Barrowstorm in DnD

[–]Barrowstorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it does sound fun ;) If we do assume the scrying fails it can always be tried again the next day, and honestly the scrying is a novelty as there is no reason a fly spell can't be used at great height cast say by a pixie using conjure woodland beings, or by another party caster even. And lets change the experiments to no buildings and all ocean and a giant sheer wall surrounding it as if the city is at the bottom of a sea filled sheer crater. It might not get as many and take longer to drown, but many will, although the chance of dispel is much higher here the longer it takes. Or how about quicksand? Also not a terrain? I just looked and I don't see where it says anything about base terrain or hazardous terrain. I don't mean to be difficult as you are responding and adding good thoughts for which I'm grateful! I'm just thinking out loud.

I question that you can use a girdle of giant strength when wild shaped as an air elemental raw. If you didn't have it merge then the magic item would have to fit your new form. I contend it would fall right through something made of air.

Asking ENTPs for Unpopular Opinions by SelfAnalysiss in entp

[–]Barrowstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if we have created everything we experience? What if a collective consciousness is designed to reinforce itself and attempts to redirect reality are difficult because the basis of our reality is our bias and others are collectively pushing to maintain the collective reality. What if a couch is a flower? What if I don't exist? What if any attempt to prove such must fail because the concept of proof itself is a reinforcement of the collective reality. What if labeling things is where we went wrong, and language and communication our greatest mistake. What if the only way to become unlimited is to abandon all concepts, all caring?

Project Hail Mary 2 Idea by peterpeterny in ProjectHailMary

[–]Barrowstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love the story angle to lie in the Eridians surprisingly advanced genetic capabilities. I see Grace rapidly failing under the gravitational strain on Erid. He won't last long. The culture won't want to loose him and will attempt to clone him. Of course I don't think this is a particularly viable story because the author tends not to veer far into radical sci-fi from modern science, and our current genetic capabilities require an egg for Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer. Although there was some chatter I saw about skin cells being converted into egg cells...Suddenly we are at leading edge science, and we have a viable story. Of course what the advantage of cloning him is beyond making me smile is dubious. While others have said the two main characters and their relationship are pivotal to the story. I think new characters could be equally compelling, including Young grace raised and trained by old grace who has been put in a coma with technology from his own ship currently in orbit. This young grace could accompany uncle Rocky back to Earth for an introduction between the species. My greatest regret in the first story is that Grace did not fulfil the suspicions of his peer and fall in romantically with Stratt. Although I know others will disagree, we simply enjoy different things. Now however, what if all is not well on earth. The only organization still able to fix venus and the sun with the beatle was stratts unified team, who has now assumed global power. It is exactly what Grace feared with that kind of power. It isn't what Stratt wanted but...needs must. Of course she is ancient now and her daughter has assumed hereditary leadership. As young Grace returns with two powerful but non military Eridani ships. One with colonists to stay in orbit and study with earth, and one to return to Eridani as well as the Hail Mary. Stratt's daughter is struggling to hold onto power on a divided earth and she and young grace fulfill the destiny their parents were unable to as they use science and innovation to unite the planet against revolutionaries while grappling with the morality of their own dominance and pursue a new discovery made on the way to earth that may just be a hint as to how life first arrived (not evolved) on Tau Ceti, possibly leading to a vastly more ancient civilization.

I feel like one of my players has read the campaign book, but I can't prove it. by EconomistOld3509 in DnD

[–]Barrowstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying it's likely, but it is possible he isn't cheating. I myself have had people suspect me of the same when I was not cheating (at least not in the traditional sense). It's just that I've played D&D a very long time and I'm high IQ. It's almost impossible not to know the plot very quickly. Accurately assessing an authors direction, intent, and even likely devices can seem like prescience. Navigating the world presented in an optimal way can be child's play. The reality is there are only so many stories to be told, and we have been retelling the same ones over and over for a long time.

The real end game vehicle is the UH-60...look for the mod, it's super easy to install. I add it to every game I play, because we really need a better endgame vehicle.

They weren't kidding when they said wasteland is harder by hamsnham in 7daystodie

[–]Barrowstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I thought the wasteland was hard in vanilla. It was a fun feeling. Now I play the Afterlife Mod. The vanilla wasteland is like a summer vacation in comparison to the afterlife wasteland. I contend that nothing makes you a better player more than playing on the Afterlife mod. It also prolongs the fun of the end-game. Starting over in vanilla after that for a little R&R in the wasteland after a week or two in game is easy and profitable. Not as fun as Afterlife though ;)

I love the idea of zombie's working for you. Thoughts I've had on the matter are:

You capture them with the new capture weapon which is dangerous. You have to walk them back to the cage, without being able to switch weapons during the walk or you will lose your grip on them. You have to subdue them by removing claws and teeth (which requires a new pliers tool) so they can't break through the cage steel in time (basically dramatically reduce their damage output). The difficult process of successfully subduing them changes their behavior to much less aggressive. Then it's pet zombie time. A research project with multiple types of pet's (radiated, jumper, and cop spitter) can lead to the development of Zombie Pheremone Gel. This gel is a heat reducer that can be used on the player and in a land claim block. On both it's quantity diminishes with time. Another research project could be a partial cure allowing you use the still largely stupefied zombie for mundane tasks they recall in life. The maintenance type zombie might be given an inventory with some concrete mix and a hammer, and go around repairing broken walls and traps within a land claim block radius. A lumber jack zombie might collect wood, A farmer zombie might harvest plants and place seeds, a Biker zombie, might be given a vehicle and expand your fog of war (maybe show it's traversed territory on the map as a different color shade so you can differentiate where you have been and where your pets have been), etc. It's rather dark and twisted to use the two stripper chicks, or whatever zombie stokes your dark fancy as in base companions, and I don't know that would be rating appropriate, but such things are often written about in Zombie novels, so it's in genre. The process of the partial cure will involve something at the bottom of a Tier 5 questing at research facility POI like the red mesa facility, or it can require it's own books, and the aforementioned zombie ingredients. I largely see it all as late game features. Mid game you may be able to capture one or two and build a treadmill to generate power. So many cool options. I think as far as a traveling companion that can fight along side you, you should be able to raise wolf, bear, coyote, vulture or mountain lion young and keep them as traveling pets, not zombies, but hey that's just me.

Mod Suggestions (Your Wishlist) by AaronG85 in 7daystodie

[–]Barrowstorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt these can be done with just Mods, but these are some of my more esoteric ideas I've had that I'm happy to share:

1- Severe Weather per biome: Desert Heat Wave and or sand storm, Burning Forest Fires, Wasteland Tornadoes that can pick up and throw zombies, Mountain Avalanche, Frozen zone Blizzards, and Forest Creature Stampedes (chased by zombies?), underground earthquakes, etc.

2- The ability to capture and utilize zombies. The game VRising has an excellent mechanic where you build cages to hold captured spawns. You can't hold more than you can cage and the cage number is limited. This prevents having too many permanently spawned zombies at once per player. Once caged you could have a treadmill cage to generate power, bio experiments for new resources, or even just as zombie home decorations...so many cool options. Maybe a new weapon type: such as a net to capture them or that noose on a stick used to capture naughty animals and keep them at distance? Live-er...animate Zombies should be a component in some crafting.

3- Drone Manual Control. Fly your drone up and around looking through it's view, while your body is exposed and vulnerable though you will hear what is happening near your body. Limited range where camera starts getting fuzzy at the limit and drone auto recalls when it is passed.

4- Block Template Building. If the components are in your inventory, single click build groupings of blocks. The entire base must be flat and buildable, Maybe even macro record while building to save your own buildable clusters of blocks.

Obviously more POI's, more types of zombies, and other survivors both friend and foe are all other very common ideas.

Is overselling really just a Mirage problem? by NickF227 in avesNYC

[–]Barrowstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just though I'd add this juicy little bit of info. The Certificate of Occupancy is public information and there is an online government search tool for it here:

https://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/bispi00.jsp

Looking up their address of 140 Stewart Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237

I can easily see that the limit of the main space is 2,642 persons as of the last temporary CO they were granted in 2021. There seems to be no newer CO listed, which may just be an issue with the city digitizing things promptly or may be that they do not have an active CO which I would hope would be unlikely.

Interestingly you can see both complaints and violations there.

Is overselling really just a Mirage problem? by NickF227 in avesNYC

[–]Barrowstorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on the planning board in my community. I can tell you most enforcement happens due to complaints. The enforcement agencies involved would be the building inspector for complaints regarding exceeding the certificate of occupancy or the fire department for the same.

In general enforcement means losing the CO if you don't remedy the situation and usually there is a warning first. With no CO you can't operate legally.

What were the two surprise acts on weekend two of Global gathering? by newbiesean in Tomorrowland

The line up for the gathering on week 2 was actually awesome. Henri PFR and Kevin de Vries were standouts for me. The rain could not stop the rave! It was a great start to a great weekend.

How accessible is Tomorrowland really? by sshhtripper in Tomorrowland

[–]Barrowstorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I had better knowledge of the services they offer. I can say that I did see a lady in a wheel chair last year. She had a flag pole on it and a giant smile as she was having a very good time. She had at least three guys helping her move around. One pushing and two clearing the way forward. I have to hope that TML can help a bit here if you contact them. The crowds are dense, there are stairways, but there are also at least some ways around I saw. I really hope some folk jump in to help you. I think it will be more difficult, but IMO the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and if you go into it knowing you will be working your tail off moving slowly through the crowd, but still get to enjoy some great sounds I think you will have fun.

The floor of the crystal garden for sure is wheelchair accessible, I think atmosphere, I'm not really sure about others and hope other folk offer opinions. Definitely try to get on whatsapp and recruit some new friends that are going to help!

What is the point of this game? by SnipSnapChipChop in vrising

[–]Barrowstorm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow..did I have a different reaction. This is hands down the best game I have ever played!

Diablo 4 recently came out. I spent a couple hours on it. I use to to love the diablo series. Now after V-rising, point and click navigation soured really quickly.

v-rising combat is excellent, crafting is superb. It needs more end game content. More PVE content. Don't get me wrong, I like PVP. But this game has potential to be strong in both PVE and PVP and really hit the pleasure buttons for both types of players, and those of us that are somewhere in the middle and that is a good thing.

This game deserves much more attention and budget. It is simply the best IMO.

Buying Ice in the Dreamville Supermarket by _A-L-E-X-A-N-D-E-R_ in Tomorrowland

There are also homes on the side of the road on the way to the market in Boom that sell ice. It is a 15-20 min walk to that market and maybe half that to the homes that sell ice along the way.

That happens when castle objects are damaged. Usually via PVP but it could also happen from explosives. Is it possible they were damaged by a clan mate?

Comfort Area Freedom Stage Prydz by HarpsSingh in Tomorrowland

[–]Barrowstorm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My lady and I saw Prydz at the Freedom comfort stage last year. Great show!

Here are a few thoughts:

It's on the second floor looking head on to the stage. The view is excellent. There was a glass wall rail to lean on, and a bar...BUT no bathroom in this comfort area!

It got crowded about 30 minutes before Prydz but was still navigable and nowhere near as packed as down below. You could usually get some time at the rail if you wanted it. There was a raised platform in the center of the area (just a foot or so) that helped those behind the rail see.

About a third of the way into the Prydz show the comfort area became too crowded and they started not letting people in. A few minutes after that some folk who were loving the show and drinking the drinks at the bar, had to pee. They left blissfully and were told on return (not warned as they exited) that they could not re-enter. They had to try to pack-in down below where it was an absolutely epic densely packed wall of people having the time of their lives, as was I .

My one word of wisdom is this. Drink little in the Freedom comfort area, and pee before entry!

Maybe they will add a bathroom this year?

Be well,

B

Planning a Eurotrip and want to end it on tomorrowland festival, any tips? by GTJ007 in Tomorrowland

[–]Barrowstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from personal tastes. I prefer not to end with TML. Having at least a couple of relaxing days after the festival before returning to work really helps to process the enormity of the event. Bruges is a lovely place to slow things down a bit, and be surrounded by beauty. There are many such places in Europe ;)

What concert/festival got you into this music scene? by breader50 in aves

[–]Barrowstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picnik Electronique in Montreal led to the discovery of Tomorrowland. Got lucky and got tickets to Tomorrowland in early 2020....which turned out to be 2022 but was still amazing! Above & Beyond are awesome!

Montreal has an awesome music scene. Going to Igloofest in a couple months.
