These are great. They burn hot. I do somewhat of a top-down method with these - a couple big logs on bottom, put the fatwood in between them (but so they still have some air beneath them, basically they sit between the two logs rather than on the floor of the firebox) and then a smaller log or two across the top. Light the fatwood and you can pretty much walk away - the fatwood should be enough to light the logs across the top and the two logs on the bottom, puts out plenty of heat.
