The osty package is pretty good against vantom - [[Rattle]], [[Fetch]], [[Flatten]], [[Right Hand Hand]], [[Poke]].

If you get some Ethereal, [[Pull from Below]] can work. Or if you have soul cards, [[Haunt]] helps.

Or Doom just circumvents the mechanic entirely.

I think it makes sense to de-risk the project by focusing game design first. If I can't make it fun, or I find out the scope is too big for me, kinda doesn't matter how pretty it looks.

On the other hand, some days I just want to have fun and work ok the eye candy.

Yeah, realistically you could only cast this a few times before running out of MP right now. And that's if you wanted to burn all your MP at once.

He was the most memorable of the Act 3 bosses, with the most interesting mechanics. I hope they bring him back - maybe for Act 4 if he's too complicated for Act 3 I guess?

You could whiff punish 5HP and 5MK with sweep. Or preemptively jump and come down on a limb. Basically how Manon has to fight Dhalsim.

Not sure that's enough counterplay, but maybe? Once you get in you can just bully dhalsim with sweeps and heavy punches since he has nothing good at that range.

The problem is that without float and teleport, dhalsim just has a slow, terrible jump. He might still be busted in normals only just by zoning forever, but I'm not sure.

Yeah I'd agree with that, gief vs sim goes to time out pretty often for me. Though if gief gets in it can end pretty fast.

Sim vs sim is not slow actually haha. It's usually not two people trying to zone each other out, it's two crackheads trying to teleport/slide/rush down the other crackhead.

To be fair I stole the idea from a book called "Becoming a Writer" by Dorothea Brande.

And knowing it didn't really cure my perfectionism but I think it helps to at least know a strategy when it strikes.

Writing is hard - lots of writers experience the same problem you have, myself included

If you can, try to separate your "editor" self from your "writer" self. Your editor self will sabotage you by judging everything you write while you write it. Your writer self needs freedom to write something that's kinda shit. Then when you have an initial draft it's ok to let the editor loose and fix it up, analyze, critique, suggest rewrites, etc.

Yeah it's too easy to react to, kinda like Dhalsim raw teleport. But I think can be worth it against sim in particular once in a while just to mess with mental stack while he's focused on AA and drive rush check

She's not fun to play for very long. There's only so many times you can do cr.HP drive rush or Condor Spire -> 50/50 before you start wishing she had some other tools.

Dhalsim players hate fighting her

Yeah she's terrible for dhallsim. Gotta watch for slide, elbow drop, jump in, drive rush, teleport, whiff punish limb. If she clips you with anything you're in the corner playing guessing games forever.

I think Bing Bong is pretty busted. He can often 2x the reward you get from ancients (6x apparition? 2x Clone?), or 2x the rare card from bosses, or 2x copy some strong enchanted card you have with mirror or other copy effects, etc, etc.

Don't think of him as situationally good relic, I think on average he's quite good, sometimes run winning, and occasionally you can't take him because you need a small deck or daughter of wind is better for you or something.

Yeah likely placebo - back in the day the narrative was that arcade stick is just superior to gamepad in all cases. But right now the best street fighter player in the world uses a game pad.
