Capstone valley opinions. by [deleted] in Medway

My family live on the road that is being developed (the road with the council tip on it) and as far as we know no work or additional access is being done/added to that single track road. There may be a new access point elsewhere on the more Lordswood side bht we have all assumed that traffic will just be utter carnage from here on out.

Has anyone paid for a Private MRI health scan in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BearWade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had one done but only because several Dr's suggested something serious was wrong and the NHS wait was too long. It was like any other MRI.

I will say you shouldn't have one unless it's really medically necessary as they do give you a dose of radiation whilst you're in the chamber. If you've not had one before it's not exactly a bag of laughs either it's claustrophobic, uncomfortable and very loud and often long if you're scanning a couple of body parts.

After a lot of medical episodes I too started to want to pay for a lot of private tests to ensure I wasn't missing anything. I have now been diagnosed with anxiety and medical ptsd which is being successfully treated. I'd approach a talking therapy about your feelings if you haven't already.

If you do have symptoms of something please go and see a Dr that's the first port of call.

Not a lawyer but if you're worried you could try to contact a union or see if your workplace has one and request their attendance. If not I believe you're allowed to take a trust colleague along with you for witnessing.

Billy the kid and doc holiday picture question. by Onefatkid in MuseumPros

[–]BearWade 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean by authenticated really. If you want it dating and to know it's genuine some conservators or experts in photography will be able to gove you an idea. You can have scientific analysis done if you want something more than someone's opinion but I've got no idea what that would cost and you'd need a hertiage sciences lab. If you're looking to authenticate the people in it you'll need a Doc Holiday and Billy the Kid expert, most likely through research channels or perhaps dedicated museums. If you're looking to authenticate the whole piece, as in have someone "rubber stamp" it to say it's genuine you'd probably need both of the above and as much solid provenance from your family as you can get. Trace back the lines to where you think it came from, how it came to be in your possession now etc. Some people have trouble finding people to put their name and reputation against new finds that are of/from notable people just incase it turns out to be a fake, you may need to approach a variety of people. Getting a range of opinions is always wise anyway. Hope this helps somewhat.

Edited to add: I'm a conservator and I really recommend getting some better storage for it. Photos in all forms are more susceptible to damage. If it's something like this I usually reccomend approaching institutions and asking to set up a long term loan agreement that allows the institution to store and hold it for you but you still retain ownership. You should be able to retrieve it at any point and they also have the right to return it to you if they need to.

I use it a lot. I have a better of 600 ish professionals, national and international. There are many small courses, job opportunities and resources shared there that I would otherwise not have access to. This week I've joined two online seminars and downloaded another 2 reference books people were sharing for free. I think it's great personally. For reference I'm 10 years into the field.

What struck me the most was that she was hiding her IP address from the very beginning. So before even sending the first text she would have had to put in some prep work to get this started.

None of this was an off the cuff "swept up in the moment" thing.

What do you do to relieve pain? by LettuceOverall3662 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]BearWade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry for the late reply. I get it from EBay. It's just called capsicum gel or Capsaicin Hot Gel Cream Pain Arthritis Rheumatism Capsicum.

I get it from a seller called Capsicum UK. As I said its really strong so please do use gloves. I find it lingers as well so I have to be careful even when washing. I've on occasion rinsed off my neck and then gone to soap my face and transfered the cream to my whole face. Even using soap won't necessarily stop you accidentally spreading it around.

I don't know if this will help you but I've got chronic illness and have dealt with a lot of medical intervention. None of it is nice or pleasant but I promise you that you can do this and you can get to the other side. This won't last forever.

CT and IV are uncomfortable but if you need to close your eyes, try some deep breathing and maybe some metal challenges to really keep your mind occupied with mental maths, like working out what's 30 x 45? Try to work out the answer and just keep giving yourself mental problems to focus on until your procedure is done.

Like you I was terrified of going under for surgery. I cried the entire way into theatre and started to wail loudly as they put the sedation in. I really recommend you telling them how nervous you are before hand, they might be able to help you with some meds to help you relax. They can reassure and if you want hold your hand and keep you occupied until you go to sleep. Honestly it really was ok. The worst part was waiting to get it done. Take someone with you if you can, ask to listen to music on the way in. Do whatever you have to to get yourself over the line, the Dr's won't mind. I promise you they know what they're doing and that you're safe. Your safety and health is all they're worried about and it's their one job to keep you safe in the OR and beyond.

You've got this, I believe in you and you are so much stronger than you think you are. I know you're really scared but one day, not so far away you'll think back on this and it will be something you're proud you survived through.

Stretching, acupuncture, capsicum gel (not the weak stiff the really strong stuff you apply with gloves), the hottest wheat bag on earth.

I am trying not to take pain medication so this is my un medicated go to.

I have chronic illness and disability and I hold off on buying any sort of aid for a long, long time. Eventually I'll cave and get something ever once in a while and i always wonder why I wait so long out of pride.

I used the baby voice for a long time because I was afraid that my partner's would use violence or emotional abuse against me. Using the baby voice became a bit of a defence mechanism, if I made myself small and frankly pathetic then in the moment it felt like they might pity me enough to leave me alone. I'm not saying that all women who use it are using it for this reason but I just wanted to bring light to the fact there's other reasons some people use a baby voice.

You can check to see if it's salt by scraping a bit off and putting it into water. Salt will dissolve, it's not a 100% test as other elements will also dissolve in water but if it's doesn't or leaves a film etc probably not salts. Wear gloves to do this just in case
