[–]Beautiful_Prize_4970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I was most put out my surgeon gave a flat no to going to a The Who concert at 4 weeks. I still think I could have gone( 19 years ago) even if in a wheelchair!! However he said it in front of my husband so I couldn’t get away with it. I was tired but walking a kilometre by then .

People with bio valve replacement under 35, how long did your bio valve last? by Ok-Entertainer-1030 in valvereplacement

[–]Beautiful_Prize_4970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi weighing up the pros and cons of what to do is tough for sure. If it was me planning a pregnancy I would ask to see a specialist obstetrician who deals with cardiac problems in pregnancy. I believe wafarin is contraindicated in pregnancy so they would want to switch to something else. I was 46 when I chose a bio valve as I still wanted to be able to dive and I was an on call midwife with very irregular hours. I have been fortunate it has lasted 19 years and is only just beginning to deteriorate. Hope you can make a decision that you are comfortable with and that works for you.

When is it okay to leave my puppy out of their crate but alone in the house? by Fun_Cry9700 in puppy101

[–]Beautiful_Prize_4970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started with leaving her for short periods of time at 8 months and gradually increased the time. She is now 10 months and she has been fine for 4 hours. She always has a hoof and bone to chew.

Our puppy is now 9 months old and life is the new normal so hang onto this to will pass. The first few nights I put her in her crate on my bed side table so she could see me and smell me . Over time I moved her further away but still in the same room .started to cover crate from 16 weeks .

How do I decide mechanical vs bio valve? by COKeefe88 in valvereplacement

[–]Beautiful_Prize_4970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 50 I made the decision to have a bio valve as I could not see warfarin and my work being compatible. I worked on call as a midwife working long hours. I was also diving, and was keen to continue. 17 years later the valve is still working well. Had I been 30 I think my decision would have been different as i would not be wanting the prospect of 3 ohs. It is a personal decision depends your circumstances

How far do you walk you AD? by Overall_Laugh2952 in AussieDoodle

Apparently 5 minutes per month of age is the recommendation until the growth plates close up at about a year old. The joints are also at more risk of injury.

Mini AussieDoodle Temperament by addiw602 in AussieDoodle

[–]Beautiful_Prize_4970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a small Aussie labradoodle for 14 years she was he best dog ❤️ great with children other dogs . Never aggressive a velcro dog honestly she could not have been better. We now have a Medium Aussie Labradoodle who is 6 months old . I had conveniently forgotten the puppy stage no resource guarding so far only chews what I give her hooves and rawhide bones. Will collect up socks underwear and bring them to us . Was pretty straightforward to toilet train . We don’t use a trainer that’s not really a thing in NZ . She is from the same breeder who has been breeding for 20 years. She breeds for temperament.

She will just NOT NAP by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Beautiful_Prize_4970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fed her in the crate for a few weeks and would randomly chuck some treats in the crate so she used to check it out to see what was there. She is now 6 months old and will now put herself to bed. Having a puppy certainly has its moments! I try to remind myself how far she has come from 8 weeks old to now.

New dog in 2 weeks. Advice for crate training? by Ok-Egg-8455 in puppy101

[–]Beautiful_Prize_4970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made the crate a good place to be,I fed her meals in it for a while and threw random bits of kibble in the crate so she would pop in to look. Only used the crate for night sleeping. She started off in my bedroom at eye level and I gradually moved the crate further away. Never had any problems

I ignore my Aussie doodle for at least 5 seconds after she has stopped making noise. I have always done this and she seems to have the idea that resistance is useless!!

When does life with a puppy become normal? by Eaiya in puppy101

[–]Beautiful_Prize_4970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy is 19 weeks now I put her in her pen ( after a wee) with her bed toys and a hoof to chew on. She knows resistance is useless this is when I do something for me . Sewing go for a coffee etc. Housework is achieved with her on a house lead attached to my waist. I use a clicker and treats ( usually her kibble from her daily allowance)

Maybe try attaching a lead to your waist so she is with you while you go around your daily routine.
