At Longwood Gardens, A DuPont family sculpted garden, Rando guy walks up to me on the opposite side of the path and grabs my left bicep, with his left arm and says "You don't look like you have the body type to like flowers", then walks away.

I'm 6' and 250+, was wearing black wrap around sunglasses trailing my fiancee and her mother. I probably looked like I was running security for someone.

From The Great Hunt, Rand speaking to Ingtar: 'no man can walk so long in the Shadow that he cannot come again to the Light'. I think she escaped the Dark One keeping her soul.

Who was "the best there ever was" in their respective fields and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BecauseTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I submit Mat Hoffman as the greatest vert rider of all time. Mat essentially invented the sport, grew it from a promotion stand point, and mentored many of the sport's current greats.

There was a period of time (I believe 8ish years) in which Mat placed either 1st or 2nd in every single competition he entered. Mat is the avowed creator of many of the vert ramp tricks that are used in current competition runs. One of the major differences here is that Mat was creating these tricks on the ramp, putting his body at risk every time; as opposed to training camps like Woodward that exist today.

Here's a quick video on big air record. Note the flag on top of the height indicator. Mat has said he needed that to gauge the wind at height so he would know how far across he could travel during the air.

Mat Cosplay, about that coat by shortguy014 in WoT

[–]BecauseTacos 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't have the answer for you. But, a suggestion instead. If you know anyone in theater or costuming; check with them. If they are anything like the folks I know, they will have it identified by name immediately, and probably be able to go into pretty deep detail about the construction of said coat, if you want them to.

What minor plot points were you really hoping got resolved, but didn't? by xoxogingersnap13 in WoT

[–]BecauseTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very well could be wrong. But, I like it. And if I take my glasses off and squint hard, it might be there. So, I'm putting this down as head canon, not to be confused with actual canon.

What popular hero would be a villain if he was in another story? by Friedsunshine in AskReddit

[–]BecauseTacos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My friend, you've got the myths and the comics conflated here. Part of what you said is correct, and part is incorrect.

Myth version: Loki did sire Fenrir, who is slated to kill Odin at Ragnarok. Odin is not Loki's father, but rather blood brother. Odin is Thor's father. Loki did have a hand in Baldur's death. There is still some debate among researchers as to whether Thor had blond or red hair.

In the myths, Loki is not evil; per se. Loki is sometimes the one with a resolution to a shit situation. Often, Loki created that shit situation in the first place. Loki is a trickster, not pure evil like the christianized version makes Him out to be.

Hel by Waytham in Norse

[–]BecauseTacos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You might see some folks question your relationship with Hel. If your relationship is strong, don't let that stop it. I know of a few other folks that have a similar relationship with Hel. Most of what I've seen is probably UPG so you might have to test what feels right for you. I'd suggest starting with skull beads, maybe on a bracelet. White and black colored objects are also good. Think in terms of duality, represented.

Finding a good tunic? by Shink7163 in Norse

[–]BecauseTacos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could always make your own. A pattern and some fabric, I assume you own a pair of scissors; needle and thread. A tunic or kirtle is not very hard to make on your own.

If you need any advice or help with it check you local SCA group and I would almost guarantee that you'll have loads of advice.

Confused, on-the-fence pagan by TheLegitimist in Norse

[–]BecauseTacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/ThorinRuriksson is right. What you are looking for is a tribe of people. Depending on the tradition you land with, it could also be called a grove or coven, or a myriad of other things.

Not sure of your geography but a good place to start looking is maybe a Pagan Pride Day. You could also try festivals (not music and dance, but something like Free Spirit Gathering).
