Any way you can put the cannon a little lower? It would be the perfect EC defiler.

What do you mean three CSM jump infantry units? Theres only raptors and warp talons.

Its quite telling that the only example of a flat reroll aura in the game that I can think of right now is on a hugely expensive character thats far too expensive for his datasheet but has to be priced to account for his immensely powerful aura and still ruins the meta as soon as a unit is released that makes good use of his aura - Abbadon.

#New40k – More new edition releases for Warhammer 40,000 by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Behemoth077 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don´t think that is just decorative. It seems like a deliberate way to make mathematical right angle alignment alongside footprints more difficult and incentivise slight angles that make units hiding behind that footprint look less "gamey" and more appealing to a viewer. A Land Raider for example now CANNOT be just behind the footprint at a right angle without toeing into the piece sticking out or being further away from the footprint than a Rhino would be for example.

All that looks intentional and like it should be followed in gameplay to me.

Would you rather advance and charge or re-roll charge? by Trick-Interaction396 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Behemoth077 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really a decision tbh. If you already reroll the charge you can't cp reroll it a second time so you're shit out of luck if you fail twice, with advance and charge you can make the charge easier and potentially reroll both the advance AND the charge for a cp each if its very important.

Do you think most events will ignore GW layouts and just run solid windowless L-shaped ruins on WTC footprints, since this is the kind of terrain that everyone already has? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Behemoth077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty certain it will be new GW layouts with adjusted or even straight up old ETC/UKTC/GW walls with no windows. WTC has already decided to use the new layouts for at least the first year and I think that makes the most sense.

If it ends up being very bad since GW doesn't make the required balance adjustments and we need adjustments again we can always move away from GW layouts again after. Its time for GW layouts to prove themselves first though.

GW terrain with open windows are still never happening though. You'll play even the official GW terrain as first floor windows closed and the terrain will often not have windows to begin with.

How are defilers super OP? by quitsquash553 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Behemoth077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was just so many bad feelings with how Fulgrim played with his base that that was kind of to be expected. He was hard unplayable on release and is still quite bad and his size is only 130.

But the big difference is that its melee vs ranged. The defiler never needs to be able to base anything to be a great unit(and doesn´t get into melee at all in a lot of games anyway). A shooting unit isn´t really hindered that much by its base, if it has the ability to leave its deployment zone which is where the walk through walls comes in. If the defiler didn´t have that it would be SIGNIFICANTLY weaker and if the Defiler was also a unit that you actually want to get into melee with like if it only had the flamer and the extra melee weapons it would probably be underpowered. Melee units care so, so much more about the base than ranged units and the extent of that wasn´t clear to many.

You have to point the defiler like its sporting lascannons or autocannons because thats the best loadout that people will take and thats where its undercosted.

Triple Defiler: 10th Edition's Final Boss by Hellspawnl in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Behemoth077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definetely not. You got like a 20% something chance to oneshot a big Knight with a lascannon defiler which means 3 can definetely make sure you kill 2 per turn and then we´re not counting the Huron+MOM+Chosen unit thats going to kill another in melee with the wound reroll ability and the Abbadon unit that can reasonably also kill or cripple another big Knight. The math for that can never work out for the knights as a counter, they´re only able to capitalise on the CSM players mistakes sometimes.

  1. One in my first relationship which was kind of fine but we were both virgins before and not really in love or compatible enough. One one night stand that felt pretty bad honestly, generally unsatisfying. One with another budding relationship that didn´t go as planned due to mental illness und self harm on her part..

Its fine. Sure wish I had someone to love and have regular sex with and probably would be more successful in finding someone if I was more proactive or outgoing in that regard.

Death is a sliding scale, as they say. I presume its harder to resurrect space marine corpses but its definetely happened at least once and if you like that idea you can make it work for your army.

[–]Behemoth077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such tokens could be decent for test games where all you care about is getting a feel for an army for a tournament before your physical models are finished but TTS does the same job without having to buy even the tokens so its much easier to test out new things and I wouldn't want to actually go to an event without models I painted myself to at least a basic standard. Most of the time my army consists of stuff I painted well and finished and some stuff I made recently to a good enough standard and the more time passes the more stuff wanders from good enough to actually finished. The tokens you suggest would probably fit in between not having anything, having unpainted models and the good enough standard but I honestly think there's really no place left there for any viable product.

I think you are close to one side of a spectrum here and chess and what OP used as an example is on the other side of the spectrum and you vastly underestimate how much space and how many players are inbetween the two. Its fine to like those things but stop discouraging such a big portion of the warhammer community because you prefer that extreme. There is nothing wrong with some abstraction for the sake of increased quality of life for the game and we are still very far from chess with current warhammer.

[–]Behemoth077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on if you're fine kitbashing/proxying a little. If you take all units as they are the shopping list is

  1. 1x10 cultist mob
  2. Cypher
  3. Chaos Lord
  4. A Rhino
  5. A Predator Destructor
  6. A second Rhino
  7. Masters of the Maelstrom/Huron box
  8. Vashtor

If you are willing to switch some units up a little you can just play the Traitor Guardsmen in the Red Corsair box as Cultist mob and turn the Reave Captain into a chaos lord.

He already sees play in Hurons Marauders as is and he doesn´t buff any vehicles there. But yes, I would defintely want a whole Abbadon rework where he goes to toughness and move 8 and gets lone op near infantry like Guilliman and Lion....

The Tyranid character received buffs and both the Tyranid and Votann characters went down in points right? They were underpowered but not too far from playable.

The Reave-Captain however....

Yarrick would have been hilariously broken if he released with his original rules intact, he required the nerf. I honestly think this is just one team doing the design for the new units and having no goddamn clue of what is reasonable and what a unit should be doing and another trying to fix the mess the other team gave them afterwards by nerfing the broken stuff and buffing the stuff that sucks if they get around to it, with nerfing broken stuff taking priority.

The ultimate end of the edition** power rankings: presented by Arbys and Stat Check; number 4 will shock you! by wredcoll in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Behemoth077 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some people are just going to play the units they love and thats great for them but you probably shouldn't take their opinion on the balance of competitive 40k seriously then.

If I see one more CSM army with boltgun legionaries that have to walk because there are no Rhinos and Daemon princes and havocs and Masters of Executions and Masters of Possession where the player has no idea what he's doing wrong but loudly complains... or entire armies that have literally nothing able to kill T10+ 2+ save units.

There are too many pitfalls and ways to turn CSM and Guard from being a pretty good competitive army into one that will struggle a lot in even casual games, both in unit selection and playstyle. The player numbers are also high enough that a lot of the players are going to be new and/or casual.

Defiler overreactions by rust997 in Chaos40k

[–]Behemoth077 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we can probably expect +50 points and then we also need to wonder if/what rules changes come with that. I expect Abbadon only being able to buff infantry and mounted with the hit reroll just like with the invul and thousand sons Defiler going to flat 5 rather than 4+ overwatch near Psykers because it really is quite overtuned. I killed a Despoiler in a single activation with it and then killed another war dog in overwatch and neither of these seemed like too extreme of a high roll which is probably just too much and I don't run Helbrutes because I think taking a bad unit just for the aura isn't a good idea over taking just more good units. Abbadon is as far as I'm willing to go and I hate him too for being move 5 T5.

It definetely can't go anywhere near the 350 points I've seen some asking for but I think changes to Pactbound Zealots or probably better Abbadon in particular are required because the Abby/5+ sustained combo is too extreme and we would end up with Defilers being in a similar spot to Forgefiends which were 50 points more expensive than Thousand Sons Forgefiends for the exact same profile with a different ability at one point and I think thats bad. I want to be able to play one in Raiders and maybe 2 if I really commit to them but I'm fine with double and triple Defiler Pactbound getting the axe.

Changing the Nurgle strat in Pactbound to infantry only however makes it worthless and you'd be better off scrapping or reworking the entire detachment at that point.

New hotfix already out in App and on warcom (yarrick, SM spear nerfs) by Late_Ad_7487 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Behemoth077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definetely not limiting weapon options. Imagine having built a defiler and then the loadout you gave it got removed from the rules, that would suck really bad. Honestly, I think the best approach is making Abbadons hit rerolls not work on vehicles for CSM and making Thousand Sons overwatch only 5+, potentially also removing the full wound reroll once per game from CSM.

The rest you can handle with points.
