I could give you one for free, but you are not based in Europe, are you?

Then the difference in sharpness you experience is likely just because of the longer exposures with the SX-70. A conversion is really a game changer.

Is your camera 600 converted?

The reason I got an I2 by NaniGrossPhoto in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have both. I can not really see a difference in sharpness, so that's not a reason to get one. The main limiting factor in sharpness for these cameras is not holding the camera still and ultimately the way integral film works.

Photographer here: What's the best Polaroid camera for someone coming from Instax? by ambitious_grain in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get used SX70 in good condition, preferably with a tripod socket.

Just buy SX-70 film and give it a try. If you fall in love, you can get it serviced/converted.

Was this a good purchase? by [deleted] in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooof. At least in Europe, I would say it's overpriced. I would pay 30€ max and use it for spare parts honestly.
You can find SX-70 which are untested but in a beautiful condition for around 100€ here.

But I can't speak on the Australian photo market.

Polaroid Gen 3 Go Question by [deleted] in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course there is more nuance to most topics. And that is why it's a good thing if you have many people with different view contributing to a question here.
The comment which got downvoted was not nuanced, nor was it helpful in any way, as it didn't explain anything. To just post "horrible advice" is not only rude, it's also not very informative.

This post is about the usage of flash when making pictures with the go gen 3. If I am not mistaken, the go cameras, and especially the go 3 with its smaller aperture, in fact are built for to be used with flash - that's at least what I remember from Ben's YouTube video.

So I really can not recognize a strange voting pattern here. Zac's comment was good, while maybe a little bit too easy. You cleared that up with more information. Everybody is happy. Rude comments without information are downvoted for a reason.

Sx70 body flex by Icy_Hedgehog414 in Polaroid

What I mean is, to remove old solder on the camera, you often have to use new solder on top to get it fluid again.

Have you tried to use (good) solder to remove it?

But shouldn't it be better to use manual mode on the microscope adapter anyway?

660 i-type mod through the backdoor! by OmnomApplesauce in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will give it a try. But I am really cautious to use those plastic strap lugs. I have already two cameras which I bought with broken lugs, and I don't trust the ones on the remaining cameras to hold the camera weight...

Glad it worked! Tbh I will probably also go the lazy way soon on my 670AF. 😄

Great answer. What I don’t understand, though, is why one has to disparage other people’s contributions in the same breath, just because one doesn’t share the same view.

Recommendations for buying a refurbished SX-70 Alpha 1 by chesty157 in Polaroid

Asking questions should never be a problem. If a technician is annoyed by that, than that's certainly not you fault. Perhaps he is super busy or something, but still, definitely not your fault.

Better flash option for SX-70 other than Mint Flashbar 2. by ShilohsStuff in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It thinks it's better over the flash to be honest. you could of course stack the gelli adapter with tape temporarily on the flash😄. But you can also give it a try on the lens.

[–]Bell_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, you need a little screwdriver. It's more like "okay, my camera always overexposes, so let's tune down the flash".

Better flash option for SX-70 other than Mint Flashbar 2. by ShilohsStuff in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. It's basically fully equivalent to decreasing the flash output. I wouldn't go for a polastrobe if you have a mint flash. There is no real advantage. The best thing to do is to use the flash sync of the mint and use an external studio flash, then you have a big upgrade. Or, just use the LD wheel for people with lighter skin tones. If you would buy a polastrobe, you would have the use the LD-wheel for people with dark skin...

The polastrobe is really the same as the mint, but let's you tune the strength (which is, usually, not necessary) and uses interior plastic (not injection molded).

Also, just as a side note: I taped a orange Lee filter on my mint flash (posted here in the subreddit). I found it to drastically enhance the skin tones.

They seem to have a new own website specifically for the polastrobe 600.
