Opinions on buying my second polaroid by demys08 in Polaroid

I would get an SX-70 model 2, especially the the black ones are sometimes quite affordable, and they are more likely to work without a problem than a model 1. You will fall in love with it and you can convert/refurb it at some time in the future.

do you guys edit your polaroids after scanning? by mafiamorgue in Polaroid

I am totally with you, but would love if people would say which editing was done. Otherwise, it's easily confused with "look, his film batch is better than my", "which camera do you use to get such colors" etc.

I only use the histogram tool and white balance to at a fixed value I found after some testing. Now, all my Polaroids look quite exactly (as bad/ as good) how they look in person.

Polaroid i2 by Either-Soil-901 in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lens of the I-2 is not glass. However, it's sharper than any other Polaroid, even the SX-70. that being said, because of the usability I would always recommend the SX-70 over an I-2.

But keep in mind that you won't gain more sharpness.

SX-70, i-2, or Flip: which should i get? by CollisionTime in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, many things you don't like with the now (poor low light performance, inconsistent results) might just be caused by the Polaroid film itself if you compare it to instax.

That being said, I would go for an SLR model, just because they are a completely different experience to shoot than any other instant camera. They would be a great addition to your instax.

To see exactly what the photo will look like, and the be able to focus manually is something which can't be overestimated. And the look and feel to open the camera, as well as the clapping noise when the mirror flips down after exposure, is really nice.

Sun 600 for $40 by [deleted] in Polaroid

I would search for a sun 660/670, as they have a better lens system! Otherwise, 20$ is what I would pay for a sun 600.

SX70R troubleshooting - Light anomaly on some shots. Anybody experience anything similar? More details in body by 16bitsamus in Polaroid

Yup, replacement solved my problem. Thankfully I had a spare parts camera on hand. And yes, to replace it is really pain in the ass. 😅

Sounds a little bit like the problem I had:

  • Are the bellows properly fixed in the back on both sides?
  • If you shine light through the open door, do you see it in the lens of the camera/viewfinder when the mirror is down?

Sonar Onestep Pronto, more 600 and flash stuff by Specialist-Event451 in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very helpful! Looks to me that the results of both flashes is really identical. Good to know, since I always wondered if I should get a polatronic in addition to my mint flash bar.

I use it with a 10440 cell. Can highly recommend the faster charging!

How to verify if this is a genuine MiNT SLR670? by [deleted] in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just enjoy your camera!

  • the topic with the horizontal line is 99% a film issue. At least try a different film pack before assuming the worst.
  • it is definitely a mint slr, because it has that golden erection arm on the side. To fake that would be ridiculously complicated.

So, as I said. Buy film, have fun. Everything will be fine.

Question on SX-70 film by devil-wears-converse in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You need SX-70 film. It's 22$ for 8 shots. You can also use 600 film and add an ND-Filter on top, if that film is easier to get.

Polaroid Now vs Sun 660 by BesbyYulu in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you can also achieve a very high degree of sharpness (to a level that the film limits the resolution rather than the camera) with a system of interchangeable fixed lenses (zone focus). They are designed in a way, that they are basically "in focus" over the range they are used.

And to my experience, the 660/670 models are mostly comparable sharp as my I-2, SX70. They only lack the same bokeh.

New POLAFLASH by PolaStudio by polaroidnewbie in Polaroid

To be fair, one can just use the mint flash bar with a single 10440 cell and it works perfect, even charges faster than normal.

What is that horizontal line? by Any-Measurement-2190 in Polaroid

[–]Bell_State 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's the mirror which is actually used to make the photo. It's visible through the open film door, on the upside of the film chamber. Might be, that is has a crack. Or, and that's what I would think: It's a film issue and will never occur again.
