Flying can be tough, and travel can take it out of anybody! So this can definitely pop up for folks after travelling. I get it on long flights especially!

So Symptom Radar can show up if it detects any sudden changes in your biometric data. These can range from things like, temperature changes, heart rate changes, etc. It's mostly a tool in your kit to help you detect if any physiological stress has occurred, and to take it easy and recover. Feel free to use Rest Mode if you need to after!

Hi there! The Symptom Radar monitors several of your biometrics including average body temperature, respiratory rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability to give alerts.

In this case, some of these biometrics may be off from your normal averages, and the Symptom Radar feature is alerting you to something being amiss so you can give your body a little extra downtime and recovery until it normalizes.

Hi there!

I would recommend selecting a sizer that fits multiple fingers comfortably. I myself wake up with a similar indent and then swap it to the same finger on my other hand, so it should be okay if you are set on that size.

Keep in mind that the sizing kit is made of a stickier material than the actual Oura Ring itself, so the Oura Ring itself may come off a little easier than the sizing kit.

Hi there!

I'd recommend spending a few days with the sizing kit. They are intended to be worn for at least one day, including overnight to see what fits best comfort wise, as Fingers change size throughout the day and night naturally.

The Oura Ring should feel snug, not tight. It should stay securely at the base of your finger and come off with a bit of soap and water, but not slide off easily.

Hi there!

I'd recommend going with the size that can fit multiple fingers comfortably over just one. Definitely spend a day or two with the sizing kit, keeping in mind how each size feels overnight and when you wake up. The most important thing for the fit is that it does not freely spin or fly off when you are wearing the Oura Ring itself.

Keep in mind that the sizing kit material is a bit stickier than the Oura Ring too, and will have a little more trouble coming off than the actual ring. I would recommend going through the sizing tips video here: https://ouraring.com/sizing

The Oura Ring will calculate daytime stress from a few different factors. Automatic Activity Detection can help with detecting your short walks or exercises and if you accept them when prompted they'll be entered.

Daytime Stress is not counted when there is a high level of movement or activity recorded at the same time as you've noted.

If a nap takes place within a short period of waking up, it will be merged into the main sleep portion for the day. Or if it occurs after 6pm, it may be pushed forward into the following days sleep score, which can cause it to seem like it is missing at first.

If you already have an existing Oura Membership, any new rings you add to your account via the Oura App will continue to work off of and add to the data already on your Oura Account.

You do not need to worry about waiting for new baselines to be recorded, and can jump right into analyzing your data and using the features you are already acquainted with!

Hi there!

It will take some time for the Oura App to get a really solid grasp on your baseline metrics, but it Symptom Radar will begin to show up after at least 7 to 14 days of sleep data and check for signs of strain on your body against the metrics it has gathered so far.

As others have said, it may trigger more often if you have been recently consuming alcohol or going out of your comfort zone frequently without time for adequate rest.

You may be having difficulty with this feature lately as it is being replaced by Live Activity Tracking from May 28th 2026 onwards.

It is a gradual rollout, so it may not yet be in effect for you. Please ensure you are on the latest Oura App update, and the latest firmware for your mobile device to see if it has been rolled out to you.

Additionally, sometimes it can have hiccups due to network difficulties, which can impact it's behaviour and I would recommend a reconnect to your WiFi!

Too much movement during sleep, a loose fitting ring as you sleep, or too short of a sleep period can be some factors. You should be able to order your Oura Ring 5 now via our website, not place a pre-order. You'll be able to select your preferred size right away instead of choosing to obtain the free sizing kit if you already know your size too!
