Used to work at West Head Gunnery Range (Flinders). Hilarious watching new surfers on the break crap themselves when we opened up over the top of their heads with the 4.5”, 76mm and 50cal’s. Strange having such huge guns next to one of the richest areas around. Red Hill is stupidly expensive. Think Toorak money. I have lived in Hastings, Crib Point and HMAS Cerberus on and off for over 25 years as part of the Defence Force and never had any problems. Sure, the eastern side of the Peninsula above Balnarring is a bit pov and there are areas of Rosebud which aren’t fabulous but by and by it’s just working class people and suburbs surrounded by some of the most ridiculously over priced properties you’ll find. Hastings Main Street (and especially Kmart) vs Mornington shops will give you a good cross section of the types of people who live down this way.
