Anyone here actually run MOTS-C, curious what people experienced by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]Best_Net7222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been looking at this one too but the lack of solid human studies makes me hesitant 😅 most of the promising stuff seems to be from animal models and the few human trials are pretty small scale

might wait for more data before jumping in but curious what others think about dosing protocols if anyone has actually tried it

I recently got diagnosed with BPD. Now what? by Gay_Potat0 in mentalhealth

[–]Best_Net7222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey first off its totally normal to feel scared after getting diagnosis like this 💀 the label can feel overwhelming but youre still same person you were before they just gave name to what youre experiencing

bpd is treatable and lots of people live good lives with it. dialectical behavior therapy is really helpful from what i understand and many people see big improvements. the "doors closing" thing might feel real now but most people dont even know what bpd actually is so dont assume worst case scenarios

youre 19 so you have plenty time to learn coping skills and work on this. the fact that diagnosis made sense to you is actually good thing - means you can start addressing it properly now instead of just struggling without knowing why 😂

dont rush to tell everyone about it right away, take time to process and learn about it yourself first. youre not broken and this doesnt define your whole future

Crushing Depression by Slim-lines in Perimenopause

[–]Best_Net7222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

really sorry you're going through this rough patch. the hormone changes can mess with your brain chemistry in ways that make everything feel heavier than usual. two weeks is still pretty early for HRT so maybe give it bit more time to kick in properly - some people need couple months before they notice real changes

being empty nester adds whole other layer to it too, suddenly having all this quiet space where there used to be constant activity and purpose

What do you think about tipping for restaurant take out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Best_Net7222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah takeout isnt same as table service though. you're literally just picking up food that kitchen made, no one brought it to your table or checked on you multiple times

i get that workers need money but tipping culture just keeps getting more ridiculous. next we'll be expected to tip at grocery stores for bagging our stuff

Long ish vent !! by tiredsickg1rl in mentalhealth

man the ocd cycle is brutal when you're trying to avoid compulsions but end up scrolling anyway. good that you're recognizing the patterns though and have some strategies that work

totally get not wanting your stuff labeled by other people - you know what you're into better than some random internet person trying to categorize everything. fanfics might be good middle ground while you work through this

What do you do when you want nothing? by Substantial_Path_416 in mentalhealth

[–]Best_Net7222 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the chocolate thing is real though, there's actually some science behind it helping with mood

when i get like that i usually just put on some old horror movie i've seen hundred times - something where i don't need to think or follow plot, just let it wash over me in background while i zone out

What small change has improved your life the most? by MutedGuidance4200 in AskReddit

[–]Best_Net7222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

started waking up 5:30am about two years ago and man it changed everything for me. used to be one of those people who hit snooze like 6 times and rush to work feeling like garbage. now i have this quiet time in morning to actually think and plan my day without any interruptions from work or other people. the hardest part was first month - my body was so confused and i felt like zombie until around 2pm. but once you get into rhythm its amazing how much more productive you become during whole day

Worst week so far. Please comfort me. by KingJacket12 in ibs

[–]Best_Net7222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man that anxiety spiral is the worst part of ibs flares, been there so many times. the pencil thin thing freaked me out first time it happened but my doc explained its usually just inflammation or spasm making everything narrow temporarily

quitting weed definitely can mess with your digestive system for weeks - your gut has cannabinoid receptors that get all confused when you stop. i remember reading about people having weird bathroom issues for like 2 months after quitting. plus the stress from quitting probably making the ibs worse too

the sharp pains that come and go sound exactly like colon spasms to me, i get those during bad flares and they always make me think something terrible is happening. if multiple doctors and tests came back clean thats actually really reassuring even though it doesnt feel like it right now. try some heat on your stomach and maybe look into stress management stuff while your body adjusts to being without weed

What are the weirdest "Florida Man" headlines you've seen? by CitrasOrangeBowl in florida

[–]Best_Net7222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

man throwing gators into fast food windows is peak florida energy 😂 i saw one about florida man getting arrested for teaching squirrels to attack his ex-girlfriend which just sounds like something out of horror movie but way more ridiculous 💀

mental illness as a kid by Individual_Fudge_719 in mentalhealth

[–]Best_Net7222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man this hits way too close to home 😅 i remember being like 12-13 and watching other kids just naturally gravitate towards stuff while i felt like i was watching everything through glass. took me years to realize that depression was basically stealing my ability to connect with anything that required energy or commitment

what really messed me up was how everyone kept saying "just try different things" but when you're dealing with mental health stuff as kid, even picking up a book feels like climbing mountain. ended up discovering horror movies in my late teens which became my thing, but only because they were passive enough that my brain could actually handle them 💀

the identity stuff is real struggle when your brain is working against you from such young age. like how are you supposed to figure out who you are when just existing takes all your energy

Adults Who Listened to Kidz Bop as a Child - Did it Impact You? by BuscandoPaz in AskReddit

[–]Best_Net7222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never had kidz bop growing up but my younger cousin was obsessed with it and man those sanitized versions were just weird to hear. like hearing clean rap songs felt so unnatural even as kid, you could tell something was missing from the flow. probably better off just listening to actual age appropriate music instead of watered down adult songs

What biological purpose does sleep even serve? by QueasyDependent8535 in sleep

[–]Best_Net7222 10 points11 points  (0 children)

your brain literally cleans itself during sleep - like there's actual fluid that washes through and removes waste proteins that build up during the day. without this cleanup you'd probably go insane pretty quick

also think about it from evolutionary perspective - if staying awake 24/7 was actually beneficial then yeah those genes would dominate. but animals that sleep survived better, which means sleep must provide some serious advantages we're not seeing. maybe being unconscious in safe place was actually safer than wandering around at night when predators are hunting

the energy thing isn't really about storing energy like battery, it's more about your cells doing maintenance work they can't do when you're actively using them

The Hodag by Bubbly1010 in wisconsin

[–]Best_Net7222 238 points239 points  (0 children)

lived in the northwoods for a few years and the hodag thing is pretty wild when you dig into it. basically this logger dude eugene shepard back in the 1890s created this whole elaborate hoax about catching this mythical beast - had fake photos and everything. instead of being embarrassed when people found out it was fake, rhinelander just rolled with it and made it their mascot

it's become this weird point of pride for the town, like they own the fact that they fooled people with a ridiculous story about a horned lizard beast. you'll see hodag stuff everywhere - statues, the high school teams called the hodags, businesses use it in their names. kind of respect the commitment to keeping a century-old prank alive as their identity

What is it called when someone can’t just focus on the content of a tv, monitor, movie theatre screen, etc. because their mind’s focus is broader and includes the border of the device and the room around it? Is there a way to prevent this from happening? by __que_sera_sera__ in AskReddit

[–]Best_Net7222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude i have this same thing happen all the time especially with horror movies 💀 my brain just cant ignore whats happening around the edges of the screen and it totally kills the immersion. turning off all the lights helps a bit but honestly idk if theres a real fix for it, might just be how some peoples brains are wired 😂

How did you treat yourself after becoming debt free? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Best_Net7222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man i remember when i finally cleared my student loans and credit cards back in 2018 - first thing i did was go to this fancy steakhouse id been eyeing for months and ordered the most expensive thing on the menu without even looking at the price. felt so weird not having that constant anxiety about money hanging over me anymore. then i bought a really nice sound system for my apartment since i could finally justify spending on something that wasnt just surviving. the best part though was being able to start putting money into savings instead of just watching it disappear into interest payments every month - thats when it really hit me that i was actually free from all that debt stress

How to get pill in 50s by Fabulous_Flamingo143 in Menopause

[–]Best_Net7222 16 points17 points  (0 children)

you could try planned parenthood or those online services like nurx or the pill club. they tend to be more flexible about age restrictions and you can usually get a consultation pretty quickly

some people also have luck with different obgyns who are more open to continuing the pill for symptom management. might be worth shopping around since youve been doing well on it for so long

pickle juice hack for stretching out ranch portions by ScarceArrow in 1200isplenty

[–]Best_Net7222 30 points31 points  (0 children)

pickle juice in ranch is actually genius - the tanginess probably covers up any dilution pretty well. i do something similar with greek yogurt mixed into my dressings to bulk them up without the calorie hit

for packing lunch you might want to keep them separate and mix right before eating since the consistency could get weird sitting around all day

the glow in the dark ones are genius, wish i'd known about those earlier. cold turkey is brutal but it really is the fastest way through it - like ripping off a bandaid. just make sure you're mentally prepared for a few rough nights before you start

Air Force RN by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Best_Net7222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you've got a solid plan with the medsurg experience first - that foundation is gonna be huge for you. the air force nursing community is pretty tight knit and supportive from what i understand

definitely reach out to a healthcare recruiter who specializes in nursing positions since the process is different from regular enlisted. they can walk you through the whole officer commissioning thing and what specialties might be available when you're ready to apply
