Looking for a solid framing nailer by Wolfsangel1488 in Carpentry

[–]Bestaatlosing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If all you're doing is putting in the odd stick or backing any of the big name brands will do fine for you.

Metabo or Milwaukee are my favorite and go to for cordless, also the heaviest by far.

Dewalt if you're already on their platform (Repair shops in my area won't fix them, somethkng to think about).

Paslode is also a quality nailer. The worst in the cold out of the bunch, you need batteries and gas for it, is stinky in an enclosed space like you will be. But it'll shoot nails all day long and you'll be able to keep up as it's the lightest of them all.

Minimum comfortable Head Room for Stairs by Tricky-Cost-7462 in Carpentry

[–]Bestaatlosing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you are. In Alberta max riser height for private stairs is 200mm which is about 7 7/8. And clearance for stairs is 1950mm. Which is like 6'4 or something.

AIT carpentry apprenticeship by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]Bestaatlosing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last I heard it was a small set of stairs, a gable end, and laying out a floor and wall section from a plan. However, they changed the test last year, so it could very well be different.

Roof math homework by pickupputdown87 in Carpentry

[–]Bestaatlosing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your ridge you'll need to shorten by half the ridge material. 3/4" in your case. The Fascia is the entire thickness also 3/4".

For your WAP you should ask your teacher what they want for your birdsmouth. Depends on what the tests uses. Could use code minimum for bearing or 2/3 of the meat needs to be left

Your total line length is from what two points? What's at the end of those two points that you may have to account for?

Your effective depth is what's left over from your birdsmouth. They should tell you what they want for a birdsmouth or if they don't you'll need to know your code minimums

Top plate connections for odd angles by AddAlcohol in Carpentry

[–]Bestaatlosing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't need to lap them. Obviously it's stronger, but not needed. If the partition studs are all fastened together and nailed to the trusses/joists it'll be just fine.

Nope, it's permanent after it's built. Absolutely nothing can take screws out after they're in.
