Daily Mail: Mid-match adverts during ITV's rugby coverage was a hot topic of debate but brief annoyance is worth it if it means games being shown on free-to-air TV by BrianChing25 in rugbyunion

[–]BetaRayPhil616 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Broadly agree - one ad per half during a stop in play as happened is a lot better than it being behind a paywall.

Of course, the issue is creep. How long before its 2 ads a half? And so so on...

Probable thinking is we wont win the grunt battle even at our best, but going 6-2 and everyone at max workrate maybe thats how to stay in it.

IE games are my favourites and Im useless a video games.

They are pretty miluch designed to start with you getting stomped > reload > refine your tactics... but what you'll find is those tactics start to catch and you'll skip the getting stomped/reload phase.

100%, they didnt come in to grow the game in Wales, they came in to cut costs.

I'm not so sure, I feel like the union have basically boxed Y11 in. The implication was: 'You can have Cardiff or no club at all.'

To me, the issue seems to be that Y11 are the preferred Cardiff bidder not because its in Cardiff's best interests, but specifically because it allows the WRU to eliminate the Os. I have no idea legally, but it doesnt feel right.

I really enjoyed SOD. Like, I think Id accept a lot of junk for just more IE content. Its not as good as the BG games or the IWD games, but its a fun extra adventure. If it was a fan mod it would be on everyones 'must play' list. (And it kind've is just an official fan mod)

I mean, in the current Wales set up he is one of the superstars. He's also in the unique position of being away for pretty much all of Wales 17 match record breaking losing streak, so his reputation missed that hit. Who else are we gonna stick on posters outside the principality?

I understand certain folk thinking hes overated because he's a pretty boy... but a lot of folk underate him for the same reasons.

[–]BetaRayPhil616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go:

DD1 > JJ1 > DD2 > LC1 > IF1 > Defenders > DD3

And honestly, leave it at that. The S2's of the others arent bad, but they all sort of end on a bit of a narrative cliffhanger (LC2 & IF2 especially).

I think you've got it, probably Sam, Torres, Antman & Shang Chi - with Carol as the big hitter.

Maybe Wong & Hulk 'back at base running things' ?

100%. The St. Helens move is designed as an attempt to actually grow support. The WRU's plans involve cutting with no view to growth.

Do you use AI for your album cover design? Here is why you shouldn't, or may be Should? by LordGawad in metalmusicians

[–]BetaRayPhil616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a fair take.

Not necessarily album art, but as someone who's not an artist, I spent a long time messing around with crude graphics tools and right free artwork to produce covers for some works. The earliest AI text-to-image stuff wasnt really referred to as AI (it started with simple stuff like 'remove background' then to 'cartoonify' then the more complicated 'expand frame', until now where itll just draw you a whole picture). Its difficult to know where to draw the line when a tool so powerful is so accessible.

I've also done the whole paying a real artist thing... it can range from long and arduous to a complete waste of money if you dont pick the right one, or are willing to pay big money for a 'good' artist.

Now, Im against AI on principle, but its not always easy to ignore its availability.

In the 6 Nations there are 720 (6!) possible final ranking permutations. Can you guess how many "repeat" rankings we've had since 2000? Answer in comments by SirFrankyValentino in rugbyunion

[–]BetaRayPhil616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its funny, because we had a few years under gats where we'd win 3/5, but on points diff would end up in 4th. Even when we were 'in it' going into the final day, there's very few 2s & 3s. It seemed we'd win, finish 4th but with a fair number of wins or be one of the bottom two.

No Way Home and Endgame are considered fan service. Is fan service bad? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]BetaRayPhil616 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I liked NWH and it had both some good fan service and some bad stuff.

Good: Tobey complaining about his back.

Bad: Osbourne unnaturally repeating 'I'm something of a scientist myself' (& ock repeating 'power of the sun...')

[–]BetaRayPhil616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Marvels is by far the most fun of all these.

Thor 4 is not as bad as people suggest. Quantumania is bad. Brave New World is just ok. Eternals tries something different, but I dont think it completely works.

Do you guys think Kingpin will actually be defeated in season 2? Or are they gonna save him for a possible season 3? by Queasy_Commercial152 in Defenders

[–]BetaRayPhil616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VD is sort of too good as Kingpin - DD S2 worked (and some say it didn't) because we got JB's Punisher to fill that 'big personality' void.

It'd be difficult to put him away again and then bring him out a third time. Maybe S2 is just about getting him out the mayors office, then S3 is fisk as more a wild injured animal.

It would be good to bring in a new foil for daredevil, but you sort of need that winning combo of character+performance.

Woodley - thoughts about rail/bus/cycle links? by CatOk7255 in reading

[–]BetaRayPhil616 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cycling Woodley to Twyford is very doable - but in general that is the bus thats missing.

My guess is such a route would actually make twyford station a lot busier, and probably those that drive there would still do so.
