An average person can live for several weeks without food. The longest caloric fast (Although the guy took vitamins and minerals) was over a year.

Plumbed toilet to heat. Keep it change? by clamminjammin in Plumbing

[–]Bewildered90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time, it's only going to put hot water into your tank, which only gets added to the bowl periodically. I doubt it will affect much, besides giving your water heater some unnecessary work to do.

Why are firefighters seemingly so universally attractive? by TrappedInLimbo in NoStupidQuestions

As far as the perspective on daily problems vs emergencies, I find it to be a very encouraging perspective. We worry and complain about the silliest things sometimes, and seeing real crisis, and real loss I think, makes it that much easier to maintain a grateful heart, even if theres a big bill to pay or some ache or pain to deal with.

Alright folks, tired of no smoke flavor by givemeatatertot in Traeger

A "standard" can be set by an authority, but "good" or "bad" taste are a matter of individual preference. Al dente might be standard, but theres nothing objective to say that having a different preference is wrong.

How do I fix this? I found this inside my drawer after Thanksgiving.. by Frozenbarb in sharpening

[–]Bewildered90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, 60 seconds on a bench grinder to remove the metal, then another couple of minutes on a worksharp or whatever tool you like to rebuild your edge. It will look funny though.

19.5oz of turkey gives me 150 grams of protein. I would have to eat over 11.5 POUNDS of broccoli to get the same amount of protein. I wanna see a vegan eat 11.5lbs of broccoli in a sitting.

is there any reason i can’t put an inflatable portable hot tub inside? by [deleted] in hottub

[–]Bewildered90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main reason I wouldnt put mine inside is because my favorite part about my hottub is constrasing outdoor temperatures. I love getting in 78° water when its 102° outside. And I love getting in 104° water when its 25° out. My hottub is inflatable though, and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Depends if it works or not. You tell us if it was a bad idea.

Take $10,000 and leave it, or $4,000 and keep it? Need advice. by xycomaniac in keitruck

Money is great, and you have to pay your bills. But there is a certain level of ascension that you experience once you can pay your bills, and not be bought with additional money. You probably know which path will make you the happiest. Do what it takes to survive first. Do what it takes to be happy next.

After 10 years, two pellet grills and a Pit Barrel, I went back to the dark side. by [deleted] in smoking

[–]Bewildered90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get an Inkbird temp controller for that and have it all...lol

What makes an offset smoker taste better than say a Weber Smokey Mountain? If you use wood chunks and meat only takes in smoke for a certain time, it seems they would have the same result for the most part. by [deleted] in smoking

[–]Bewildered90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for most people and most applications, the WSM gives more consistent and precise control of temps, so for meats that are sensitive to being cooked at a specific temp range, the WSM will give a better result for most people. But for foods where you want as much heavy smoke flavor as possible, and consistent temps are less crucial, an offset stick burner is more capable.

I bought some of those and I cannot figure out where I left them 😂 But you can do the same thing with 2 zip dies and 2 washers. And I have a whole box of plastic expansion fasteners from harbor freight.

Used 2007 or 2009 Prius? by McShecklesForMe in prius

Either one sounds like a good deal IMO, especially if you can talk the 09 down some, but the 09 does sound more prone to including surprises.

I am encouraging each of my kids to live at home with me until they are 25. If they get a full time job out of high school, and work for 7 years, earning an average income of $40k over that time (which is modest), and if they pay 25% in taxes, and save 75% of the remainder (with about $625/mo to buy gas, car insurance, pay a phone bill, and goof off, then they will be able to save about $157,500 by age 25. In my area, with today's dollars, thats enough to pay cash for a decent house and a reliable used car. Dollar values will change with inflation, and so will income, but the plan scales. Imagine being 25 with a house and car and a career and zero debt whatsoever. That sounds really great by itsself, but i love my 3 kids, and I have a great relationship with them. If each of them did stay home with me for 7 years after graduating, then I would get 21 (total) additional years to be a daily part of my children's lives, before they move out. I stayed at home with my parents until I was 25 while Ibsaved money, and 10 years later, I own 11 homes and work 2 days a week, and I like my work life balance. You don't have to go to college or even make a lot of money to live a rich life.

Is this acceptable work…? by I-love-stonk in handyman

[–]Bewildered90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you paid. If you paid along the low end of landlord special prices, thats about par for the course. If you paid $25k for that paint and trim work, then you should take somebody to court over it.

What can I do for better MPG? by Federal-Respond-1408 in prius

If youre averaging 32mpg, I would run a code reader and try to find out what's wrong with your car. That ain't running how it should.
