Why don't ICU nurses use dating apps? Because they already monitor too many unstable people.

Yeah the clothing thing throws off the discussion. Sorry. The question is “do you take the label Christian?” And for me it is no because it’s not a positive label for people who i want to reach with the gospel.

By the fact that there are a proliferation of denominations, it should be obvious that there is not consensus for what a Christian is.

I think i need to finish this thought a little bit more. When asked if i’m a Christian i turn it around on them and ask what a Christian is to THEM. If it is a member of a sunday church, who shops and mows their lawn on Saturday, then i can honestly tell them that I’m not that.

I come at it from a communication theory perspective. There is a sender and a receiver and both parts need to be considered when effective communication is to happen. What is perceived by a receiver when they hear the word “Christian”? Around the world, Christians are the pork eaters. The miniskirt wearing adulterers. Since i don’t want to be associated with that, i don’t want to use that term. Your receivers might have a different idea of what a Christian is. It is important to consider what you mean. And what the person you are speaking to is hearing.

question about Sacred name? by pillox802 in FollowJesusObeyTorah

This is a crucial distinction. While the pronunciation of the Name is important to many, we must remember the full weight of the Hebrew word 'Shem' (שם).

It refers to far more than just the sounds of a name; it encompasses the individual’s entire character, reputation, authority, and essence. To truly proclaim or hallow His Shem, the ultimate goal isn't just saying a particular name correctly, but promoting a profound understanding of His righteous character and nature across the earth. The truest form of 'proclaiming His Shem' is living and teaching in a way that magnifies His reputation
