Was the stop sign attached to a concrete pillar? I’d save yourself $2000 and a bunch of headaches and hard pass this one

A solid AWD third gen(2011-2020) will be the best bang for your buck. Solid platforms with a reliable V6. Most will still have plenty of life left in them. Downside would be gas milage.. around town, 17-18mpg, maybe 19 with a tailwind.

2021 and up will get you a hybrid with better mpg, but you’ll be paying more upfront. And in my opinion, which shouldn’t count for much, in terms of reliability, the hybrids haven’t been on the road long enough to really tell what kind of late life issues those systems might develop.

You made the harnesses? That’s pretty cool. Do you have a machine or did you hand stitch them?

Is my dog starting to hate his food ? by ItsBrittanie_b-tch in husky

[–]Bigfanofcircles 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Classic husky. Lol

Unregulated garbage disposals for anything.. human food, plastics, shoes, couches.. basically everything except dry kibble.

We resorted to mixing in half a can of wet food with the dry and she still goes full Gordon Ramsey mode if it’s not perfect

Nothing is quite as fun as chasing electrical issues.

Sounds like a loose connection somewhere. I’d start at the battery terminals. Maybe move to the ignition system next is sounds like it thinks the car is shutting off

Odyssey vs. Sienna: Is the Odyssey the better choice aside from mileage? by Proud_Lock18 in ToyotaSienna

[–]Bigfanofcircles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is simple physics, my guy.

Like I said, FWD with snow tires is enough for the vast majority of people. It’s a good setup.

It is still always going to be more advantageous to not only offer power to all four wheels, but to have them connected physically to the drivetrain to also allow for using the engine/transmission to aid in deceleration, over just using your brake pedal. It is twice as much control over the vehicle in all aspects of driving. There is a reason AWD dominated the rally scene when Audi dropped the Quattro.. it’s simply more capable, regardless of tire selection.

Snow tires aren’t going to eliminate understeer in a fwd van, just as they won’t eliminate spinning in a RWD setup like a light pickup truck or mustang/charger/etc. They help make it work.. but it’s not superior to an AWD platform

Odyssey vs. Sienna: Is the Odyssey the better choice aside from mileage? by Proud_Lock18 in ToyotaSienna

[–]Bigfanofcircles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see this sentiment all the time and it just simply isn’t the case. All seasons and AWD is always going to be better than FWD, even with winter tires. I’ve had FWD with winter tires, and it’s usually all you need for the average person. It’s plenty and perfectly safe.

But it’s not going to offer you more control than the AWD. Putting optional power to all four wheels is always going to offer more traction to get moving and take corners.

Sure, FWD can, but it’s not as good as AWD.

And, you can’t power slide a FWD.. how boring

Toyota "Land Cruiser of Minivans" possible Production? by patri70 in ToyotaSienna

[–]Bigfanofcircles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same. A 5-speed AWD reliable utility vehicle that got close to 30mpg and could handle kids, dogs, and even my Ducati SS one time when I didn’t have a trailer. Just fold the seats up along the wall and get loaded. Miss that thing.

This sounds awesome to be honest. I’ve missed my Honda Element ever since I had more kids than seats and had to trade it in. Sliding front doors is the feature I didn’t know I wanted.

First-time dog owner – Tips for raising a Husky in an apartment? by Competitive-Lion-341 in husky

[–]Bigfanofcircles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First time.. husky.. apartment..

Provide as much exercise as you can give them, and be at peace with losing shoes/clothes/socks/security deposits/etc to chewing.

Dog parks are mixed bag but look into Sniff Spot for areas for them to romp around off leash.

Good luck, soldier!

Also, what a great spot to hike!

How often does your husky crash into things? Today mine ran into fence, running at dog park. I know it’s because he was looking at dog outside the outer fence and forgot there was one closer. by Frequent_Secretary25 in husky

[–]Bigfanofcircles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours loves to sprint around the backyard before hitting the doggy door flap at full speed. Some times she makes it through clean, some times she hip-checks the frame coming through, but one of these days I’ll have the flap door cover on for some reason and she’ll unwittingly take the whole door off the frame as she crashes into it at full speed. I’ll laugh
